  • The method for enhancing the edges from medical images is described. The various methods are tested for the medical Images contaminated by noises, such as weighted averaging based on local probabilities, unsharp masking techniques, and proposed combined techniques. As a result, the combined technique using the median filtering and edge masks in six directions is well suited to remove the noises as to as to preserve the edges. Experimental results and computational procedures are presented.

  • This is a thesis that a quarter-brick size of 100W class open-frame type on board power module comprising telecommunication application is reported. The input voltage is established between 36 and 75 in range in order for power module to be utilized for the telecommunication application, and output were set at 3.3V and 30A. A number of parts used for transformer, inductor, and hit sink are composed of PCB in order for DC-DC converter to be lowered below 8 mm. A constant current control circuit was annexed to the system as well as basic protection prototypes such as over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature were well considered to enhance more credibility, and were tested. As a result, high circuit performance and credibility turned out to be significant.

  • A new design method for the LCL filters of three-phase voltage source PWM rectifiers is presented in this paper. Based on the single-phase harmonic equivalent model, the harmonic voltage of the rectifier side is calculated to design the LCL filter parameters by an iterative algorithm, in which the resonance frequency $f_{res}$ and the ratio r between the grid-side inductance and the rectifier-side inductance are selected as known constants. The design criteria and process are introduced and the influence on the design result by the value of the resonance frequency $f_{res}$, ratio r is analyzed. Finally an example (600V, 500kW) is tested by simulation and experiment to verify the validity of the new design method.

  • This paper presents the result of driving performance analysis of PMSM type AC servo motor based on control system using a microprocessor. The experiment using the microprocessor is tested with a 120[v], 200[w] PMSM type AC servo motor. The PWM signal generated in the microprocessor for the servo motor voltage is chapped by power transistor modules to change the AC servo motor speed. The torque of the AC servo motor with a permanent magnet can be easily controlled over a wide range by changing the AC servo motor current.

  • In this paper, back commutation phenomena for iron chute chamber in AC low testing. For this experimental we used high speed camera and carried out with same prospective currents up to 10kA RMS. Hybrid arc quenching chambers which are composed with iron plate and insulating materials tested for reducing back commutation phenomena in interrupting process. It is shows that hybrid chambers which are various narrow slot path width reduces back commutation. As a result, a new type arc quenching chamber is to force the arc rapidly into a narrow insulating slot with iron plate. By this means the arc is lengthened and squeezed between insulating walls. Using this model, the behavior of the arc squeezed in the hybrid chamber and characteristics of arc voltage are also investigated.

  • To provide more noiseless upstream service on the HFC(Hybrid-Fiber Coaxial) Access Network, we should conduct upstream band analysis and have related operation skill. In this paper, we studied the upstream signal measurement to get goof transmission quality, effective operation and maintenance, also showed the method of noise analysis and that of upstream band frequency selection. Finally we tested the signal in the field and showed the analyzed result.

  • This paper presents a reliability evaluation method for considering the voltage quality. The proposed evaluation methods are contained the sustained interruption, momentary interruption and voltage sag. For momentary interruption, evaluation indexes are divided the duration based index and the interruption cost index. For voltage sag, the final result of evaluation method represents the magnitude for customers' risk due to the voltage sag. The proposed method is tested using the RBTS model and a reliability data in KEPCO's system.

  • A microgrid is a new type of power system which is formed by the interconnection of small generator to distribution systems. Microgrids are able to supply electric power to their loads independently, which is called with islanding operation, even if they're separated from the power system. As a result, microgrids must be equipped with specific islanding detection schemes for the islanding operation of microgrids. This paper studies an islanding detection method considering reactive power. The proposed method is dealing with the reactive power of the cable which connects between a microgrid and a power system. To show the validity of the proposed method, many islanding operation cases are tested by varying the load conditions of microgrids.

  • In this paper, Via hole pore were investigated during PLAS (PessureLess Assisted Constrained Sintering) process of LTCC. Ag and Ag-Pd paste mixture were tested for via paste. Ag paste with 10~25% Ag-Pd paste showed no via hole pore, but further increase of Ag-Pd contents in via paste increased via pore. From shrinkage curve, 10~25% Ag-Pd paste showed expansion behaviors before shrink and this phenomena result in the reduction of via hole pore during PLAS process.

  • A Voltage Instability Predictor(VIP) estimates the proximity of a power system to voltage collapse in real time. Voltage Instability Index(Z-index) from VIP algorithm is estimated using LS(Least Square) method. But this method has oscillations and noise of result due to the system's changing conditions. To suppress oscillations, a larger data window needs to be used. In this paper. I propose the new other method which improves that weakness. It uses RLS(Recursive Least Square) to estimate voltage instability index without a large moving data window so this method is suitable for on-line monitor and control in real time. In order to verify effectiveness of the algorithm using RLS method, the method is tested on HydroQuebec system in real time digital simulator(HYPERSIM).
