  • The failures such as flaking, wear, crack and seizing caused by the high contact pressure accompanied with sliding motion between inner or outer ring and ball are potential failures of ball bearing. In this research, we have qualitatively selected the efficient test items through the analysis of the life and potential failures of ball bearing. The bearing's failures are related closely to the whole system in using the bearing. So, the bearing itself requires an estimation of life in order to opreate the system safely. We have tested ten ball bearings. Our research has applied both radial and axial direction force of maximum torque conditions simultaneously for the accelerated life testing. The result is established by employing the weibull plot and compared the predicted life of ball bearing to the experimental result.

  • In this study, we extend the application of the interface-matrix(IM) method for reflector modeling to Analytic Flux Expansion Nodal (AFEN) method. This include the modifications of the surface-averaged net current continuity and the net leakage balance conditions for IM method in accordance with AFEN fomular. AFEN-interface matrix (AFEN-IM) method has been tested against ZION-1 benchmark problem. The numerical result AFEN-IM method shows 1.24% of maximum error and 0.42% of root-mean square error in assembly power distribution, and 0.006%Δk of neutron multiplication factor. This result proves that the interface-matrix method for reflector modeling can be useful in AFEN method.

  • The purpose of tis study is to analyze the effects of job embeddedness on job burnout related with social worker's turnover. This study suggests some implications for decreasing the level of social worker's job burnout. In this study, embeddedness is composed of three sub-variables like fit, links, and sacrifice. Job burnout is also composed of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decrease of personal accomplishment. Thereafter, research model is established, and study hypothesis is tested through the survey. As a result, it showed that the components of job embeddedness have significant effects on the components of job burnout. Based on the result of this empirical analysis, this study suggested some theoretical and political implications.

  • Aluminum/Freon22 grooved hat pipes which have 26 axial grooves in a cross-section were manufactured and tested. The performance test was conducted by varying filling ratio and tilt angle. Operation limit, thermal resistance, overall heat transfer coefficient were investigated. The experimental result was compared with previous study which conducted in the case of a heat pipe with combined wick. The experimental result shows that thermal resistance of this heat pipe is twice smaller than that of the heat pipe with combined wick and operation limit is increased about 75%, comparing with that of heat pipe with combined wick.

  • In this paper, we would like to develop the bending collapse specific equation of aluminum members which are usually used in light-weight vehicle or electromobiles. The result of the developed equation are compared with that of test and finite element methods as the moment-rotational angle curves. Three types of aluminum members are tested with the pure bending collapse test rig. PAM-CRASH and ABAQUS program are used for finite element analysis. As the result the developed bending collapse governing equation is accurate in estimating the yield moment and the maximum moment. Especially, in the case of the local buckling and the delayed buckling, the developed equation is better effective than F.E.M.

  • In this study, to investigate shrinkage and cracking behavior of 120MPa UHSC, free and restrained drying shrinkage test were performed. Three strength levels(50MPa, 80MPa, 120MPa) were used and the effect of mineral admixtures(fly ash, slag) on free and restrained shrinkage was investigated. From comparing the result of pin -penetration test with the result of ring test, Time-Zero was determined as initial set. Shrinkage test results show that autogenous shrinkage of UHSC was much higher than that of HSC, VHSC and fly ash delayed cracking age in UHSC by decreasing autogenous shrinkage. Additional free concrete rings(with restraint removed) were also tested to check the influence of the geometry of the specimens on free shrinkage. And then the relationship between free shrinkage and restrained shrinkage was investigated.

  • Nowadays, the stripping work of form has generated some problems such as increasing total constructing cost result from delayed work schedule by the stripping work of form and environmental issues by wasting the debonded form. According to recent research for form work, it has studied about permanent form to solve economic and environmental problem which is commented above. In this study, high performance permanent form method was developed and tested by adopting COM and TEN specimens adopted on the Compression and Tensile section then the structural behaviour was investigated. In the test result, the specimen adopted the form showed better structural performance than control specimen in the point of ductility, failure mode and ultimate load.

  • Fuzzy clustering has been playing an important role in solving many problems. Fuzzy c-Means(FCM) algorithm is most frequently used for fuzzy clustering. But some fixed point of FCM algorithm, know as Tucker's counter example, is not a reasonable solution. Moreover, FCM algorithm is impossible to perform the on-line learning since it is basically a batch learning scheme. This paper presents unsupervised learning networks as an attempt to improve shortcomings of the conventional clustering algorithm. This model integrates optimization function of FCM algorithm into unsupervised learning networks. The learning rule of the proposed scheme is a result of formal derivation based on the gradient descent procedure of a fuzzy objective function. Using the result of formal derivation, two algorithms of fuzzy cluster analysis, the batch learning version and on-line learning version, are devised. They are tested on several data sets and compared with FCM. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms find out the reasonable solution on Tucker's counter example.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present the dynamic test method developed for measuring the elastic modulus of sound insulating coat. The test setup was devised based on the theoretical natural frequency of a simply-supported beam subject to free transverse vibration. A stainless steel beam was tested and the result showed a good compliance with the standard value listed in literatures. The result indicates that the test set up can serve as a quick, economical and suitable scheme to test non self-supporting materials.

  • A numerical investigation was performed to determine the effect of airfoil on the optimum flap. height using NACA 0006, 0009, 0012, 0015, 0018, 0021 and 0024 airfoils. The six flaps which have 0.5% chord height difference were used. A Navier-Stokes code, FLUENT, was used to calculate the flow field of the airfoil. The code was first tested as a benchmark by modelling flow around a NACA 4412 airfoil. Predictions of local pressure coefficients are found to be in good agreement with the result of the experimental result. For every NACA 00XX airfoil, flap heights ranging from 0.0% to 2.5% chord were changed by 0.5% chord interval and their effects were also studied. Representative results from each case are presented graphically and discussed. It is concluded that this initial approach gives a promise for the future development of wind turbine optimum design.
