Comparison of Performances refer to Magnetic and Fluid Analysis of Magneto-Rheological Flow Damper (자기점성유체 댐퍼의 자기장 및 유동 해석에 따른 성능비교)

  • The magneto-rheological fluid expresses different cohesiveness according to the strength of the external electric current. To manufacture the magneto-rheological fluid damper that uses such characteristics of the fluid, a flow analysis of the inner damper was conducted to forecast the damper's capacity. In addition, using the finite element method software, analysis on the characteristics of electromagnetic field around the coil operation unit inside the damper. Based on the result of the analysis, a single core damper and a double core damper were built and tested for their dynamic function. Based on the result of the experiment, the propriety of the flow analysis was demonstrated, and the proposed model was verified.

  • This paper aims at showing firstly, that the parameterized Universal Grammar is also accessible in second language acquisition based on the data found in the English Agreement acquisition by Korean speakers and secondly, that the theoretical claim that the acquisition of Agreement is related to the Subject Drop phenomenon can be supported by the second language acquisition data. The functional category AGRP which is crucial here can be parameterized according to its features with Korean of - Agr and English of + Agr. Two groups of 40 each were tested and the result shows that the parameter resetting is possible in terms of the Agreement feature. In addition to Agreement test, three more tests for the distribution of Subject Drop, Subject Raising and NPI (Negative Polarity Items) were conducted in order to find the correlation among those grammatical phenomena. The result is that the acquisition of Agreement and the Subject Drop possibility are correlated but that they are not related to the obligatory Subject Raising process. Finally, NPI distribution test which is supposedly related to the Subject Raising turned out to carry little information since the average grades from both groups were very low.

  • To develop the natural antibacterial agents which don't have any toxicity against man, collected several species of medicinal plants were tested for their antibacterial activity from dental caries bacteria Streptococcus sanguis. The result of using paper disc method and the result of viable cell counting method, Phellodendri Cortex was selected as antibacterial agent. The high antibacterial activity was acquired at high extraction temperature and long extraction temperature. The antibacterial of Phellodendri Cortex was not effected by the concentration of ethanol.

  • In this paper, a new offset algorithm for closed 2D lines with islands is introduced and the result is illustrated. The main point of the proposed algorithm is that every point is set to be an offset by using bisectors, and then invalid offset lines, which are not to be participated in offsets, are detected in advance and handled with an invalid offset edge handling algorithm. As a result, raw offset lines without local invalid loops are generated. The proposed offset method is proved to be robust and simple, moreover, has a near O(n) time complexity, where n denotes the number of input lines. In addition, the proposed algorithm has been implemented and tested with 2D lines of various shapes.

A Study for Development of a Tool Measuring Organizational Characteristics in Nursing (병원간호조직의 특성을 측정하기 위한 도구개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a ratio scale measuring organizational charateristics in nursing. 599 staff nurses working at 10 educational hospitals in Seoul were participated during the period from July 1 to July 31, 1985. Subjects were instructed to rate at one to five points likert type scale according to the level of positive characteristics affecting the nursing organizational effectiveness. As a result of factor analysis given to 50 items with varimax rotation and rearrangement on the asis of factor loading 0.3, there are 4 factors consisted of 33 items presented: factor 1 : leadership of head nurses and interaction(11 items) factor 2 : leadership of supervisors and top managers(11 items) factor 3 : interaction with supervisors(5 items) factor 4 : organizational climate(6 items) Reliability of the factors were tested by Cronbach's Alpha, and the result was α=0.67∼0.84 Further studies are needed to identify the relationship between this tool and the effectiveness of various organization in nursing.

  • In this paper, we developed HPF (high pass filter) consists of lumped LC components to decrease the noises that are detected in PD (partial discharge) measuring test, and adapted it to field test. We tested it under laboratory circumstances like the fields, and measured the phase change properties of detected signal in UHF sensor with Lemke Probe and oscilloscope (TDS-3054, Tektronix). As a result, we obtained available data showing the decrease of noises in the experiments with the developed HPF from the joint box of 22.9kV distribution line. The result can be adapted to prevent the degeneration of the XLPE power cable, and to observe and diagnosis the underground power transmission cable at the ultra-high voltage.

  • The use of high-temperature superconducting materials for transmission cable application is being realized in prototype situation. HTS cable systems have been installed in laboratories and tested successfully around the world. In korea. the first step in development of superconducting cables is distribution system. In this paper. it is proposed the HTS distribution system modeling using ATPDraw and EMTDC programs. In the multilayer conductor, the inner layers have higher impedance than the outer layers. As a result, the current concentrate$ in the outer layers. This paper presents the result of the current distribution in EMTDC.

Prediction of Arc Welding Quality through Artificial Neural Network (신경망 알고리즘을 이용한 아크 용접부 품질 예측)

  • Artificial neural network (ANN) model is applied to predict arc welding process window for automotive steel plate. Target weldment was various automotive steel plate combination with lap fillet joint. The accuracy of prediction was evaluated through comparison experimental result to ANN simulation. The effect of ANN variables on the accuracy is investigated such as number of hidden layers, perceptrons and transfer function type. A static back propagation model is established and tested. The result shows comparatively accurate predictability of the suggested ANN model. However, it restricts to use nonlinear transfer function instead of linear type and suggests only one single hidden layer rather than multiple ones to get better accuracy. In addition to this, obvious fact is affirmed again that the more perceptrons guarantee the better accuracy under the precondition that there are enough experimental database to train the neural network.

  • In this study, to evaluate the performance of leachate collection and removal system, the clogging of geotextile filter was tested and simulated for HELP. As a result of clogging test, the all permeability of geotextiles were decreased rapidly in several day. Also, $Ca^{2+}$ and CODcr concentrations were decreased during test. In model simulation for HELP, Daily discharge volume was shown insignificant change with the filter clogging. however, this result may effect on increasing of the hydraulic gradient in waste layer.r.

  • A study to determine a proper sensor placement was developed to improve force identification. Improper selection of response position cause erroneous result in force identification problem. This paper presents two methods to improve the conditioning of the system's FRM(Frequency Response Matrix) which affects the accuracy of result. The basic strategy of the two methods in selecting the response position is to let the smallest singular value be as large as possible by maximizing the orthogonality of FRM. The suggested methods are tested numerically with a fixed-fixed beam model. The test results show that the proposed methods are very effective in dealing with the force identification problem.
