  • Armed aircraft of a basic trainer class installs external stores under wing box by using pylon and performs an operation such as weapon delivery and jettison, and should be designed to withstand all kinds of loads applied to external stores. The static strength test of pylons and wing box was performed to assess the static strength of pylon and their support structures for substantiation. Based on the test, the structures were verified to fully satisfy a given design requirement. In this paper, methods of test load generation of wing box and pylon, evaluation of test result data and design result of test set-up were presented. Comparing the FEM analysis with the same test data can lead to good match and reasonable deviation between both. Finally, based on the test and the analysis, the static strength of test article was substantiated and the reliability and effectiveness of analysis math model were obtained.

  • In this research, bending shear test of HPFRCC beams is conducted to obtain the shear strength of HPFRCC beams. Parameters are ratio of volume percentage of fibers. Also, the uniaxial tensile test of HPFRCC is conducted to obtain the tensile cracking stress of each parameters. From the uniaxial tensile test result, the shear strength of HPFRCC beams can be calculated by using the preexisting shear analysis model. Then, the shear strengths of bending shear test result and analysis result are compared.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate durability of platform safety step system in railway. Method: We performed finite element analysis & durability analysis of platform safety step system with VPD (Virtual Product Development) techniques and examined the durability standard & qualification life through the rig test during no failure test time in reliability qualification test. We continued to test 1 million cycles in KRS (Korea Railway Standard) for system's robust design performance. Result: FEM analysis results are 14.9MPa & 14.7MPa of pin-joint, pivot and durability analysis result is above 1 million cycles. we calculated theoretically no failure test time 855,000 cycles and through the 1 million cycles durability rig test in KRS standard we confirmed product quality. Conclusion: This platform safety step system was designed very safe in terms of a mechanical strength & durability.

  • In this study a relationship between SP curves and tensile properties was investigated by FE analysis on SP test with various assumed tensile properties. For the accuracy of FE analysis, SP test and tensile test were performed and those results were compared with FE analysis results. The yield load(Py) defined from the intersection point of two lines tangent to the elastic bending region and plastic bending region. And it was related specifically with yield stress(${\sigma}_0$) in FE analysis result curves. The slopes of FE analysis result curves normalized by yield stress(${\sigma}_0$) reflected the change of tensile properties regardless of yield stress(${\sigma}_0$) variation. Empirical relations were derived from these results. Tensile properties from these relations showed good agreement in FE analysis curve and tested curve.

  • The main purpose of this study is to compare the bird strike analysis result of the radome composed of composite laminate and sandwich structure attached to aircraft with test result. First of all, we generated bird model which has water properties through SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) method. And then bird strike analysis was conducted with initial velocity of bird measured from bird strike test. From analysis result we investigated whether structural failure occurred or not onto the radome and compare maximum displacement of the radome structure with test result. Also reliability of numerical analysis model was confirmed through time-dependent pressure trend on this collision process matched existing research result. Furthermore, we confirmed that failure behavior of the radome can be affected by density of the particles in the bird model.

  • This study aims to quantitatively evaluate failure pressure of wall-thinned elbow under combined load along with internal pressure, by conducting real-scale burst test and finite element analysis together. For quantitative evaluation, failure pressure data was extracted from the real-scale burst test first, and then finite element analysis was carried out to compare with the test result. For the test, the wall-thinning defect of the extrados or intrados inside the center of 90-degree elbow was considered and the loading modes to open or close the specimen maintaining a certain load or displacement were applied. Internal pressure was applied until failure occurred. As a result, when the bending load was applied under the load control condition, the intrados of the defect was more affected by failure pressure than the extrados, and the opening mode was more vulnerable to failure pressure than the closing mode. When the bending load was applied under the displacement control, it was hardly affected by failure pressure though it was slightly different from the defect position. The result of the finite element analysis showed a similar aspect with the test. Moreover, when major factors such as material properties and pipeline thickness were calibrated to accurate values, the analytical results was more similar to the test results.

  • In this study, finite element modeling and material property tests are performed for the finite element analysis of rubber isolator parts which support the engine and isolate the vibration. As a result of the P direction analysis of the rubber isolator parts, the static stiffness in the P direction was 44.2 kg/mm, which is well within the error of 5% as compared with the test result of 46.1 kg/mm. The static stiffness of the rubber isolator parts in the Q direction was calculated to be 7.9 kg/mm, which is comparable to the test result of 8.6 kg/mm, with an error of less than 8%. As a result of the analysis on the Z direction, the static stiffness was calculated as 57.7 kg/mm, and the test results were not available. Through this study, it is expected that the time and cost for prototype development can be reduced through nonlinear finite element analysis for rubber isolator parts.

  • Corestone rock mass has complex characters because it is made up of stronger and stiffer corestone in a weaker and softer matrix. Physical model corestone rock mass made up of stiffer corestone in weaker matrix were tested in uniaxial compression and numercal modelling analysis The result of the uniaxial compression tests showed that increasing the corestone proportion generally increased the modulus of deformation. And the strength decreased in the lower corestone proportion, but it increased in the higher proportion(45%, 65% corestone by volume). The strength and the modulus of deformation were not affected by different size coretone on the same proportion. The result of the numerical modelling analysis showed similar trend compared with the result of the result of the uniaxial compression test. But though the result of th uniaxial compression test is similar to the result of the numerical modelling analysis, it's unreasonalble to apply the results of this paper to in situ corestone rock mass. So mere laboratory tests including triaxial test and the other numerical program analyses are necessary to apply the results to in situ corestone mass

  • Purpose: In this study, FEM(Finite Element Method) and bending strength test was conducted using normal implant and porous implant for the mechanical estimation of porous dental implant made by SLM method. Methods: Mechanical characteristics of PI(porous implant) and NI(normal implant) applied distributed loads(200N, 500N) were observed through FEM analysis. And each bending strength was gotten through bending test using MTS(Mechanical Test System, Instron 8871). Results: The result of FEM analysis was observed that stress difference between upper and surface of PI was 12 times, while NI was 2 times. The result of bending test was observed that bending strength of PI was lower than NI. we made a decision about this result that cross-sectional area of NI was larger than the PI. Conclusion: The stress shielding ability of porous implant was better than normal implant through result of FEM analysis. And bending strength of porous implant was lower than NI. We think that cause of this result was difference of cross-sectional area.

  • Web-based analysis programs for reliability assessment of machine tools were developed in this study. First, the reliability data analysis program was developed to search for failure rate using failure data and reliability test data of mechanical part. Second, failure mode analysis was developed through performance tests like circular movement test vibration test for machine tools. This analysis program shows correlation between failure mode and performance test result. Third, tool life was predicted by correlation between flank wear and cutting time, using the extended Taylor tool life equation in turning data and the equivalently converted equation in order to apply ball endmill data to Taylor tool life equation in milling data. All the information related to input and result data can be stored in theses programs.
