Although the understanding of English tense system is a crucial factor for communicative English learning and teaching for EFL students, it has been neglected over the years. As with other areas of the grammar, difficulties may arise from the nature of the system itself or from differences between time, tense and aspect. Consequently, many learners face a considerable difficulty with the English tense system as they are more often unable to grasp the basic conceptual differences of present/present continuous, past/present perfect, will/be going to along with many others. More concerning fact is that lots of instructors or so-called native English teachers seem not to be aware of the importance of teaching English tense system. The purpose of this study is to review and examine various theories and practical usages of tense in order to establish and/or present better methods for teaching tenses. This paper is focused on comparatively exact distinction of time, physical notion from tense, grammatical category as well as sequences of tenses in view of school grammar and communicative function. At the end or middle of each chapter, efficient teaching and learning techniques or strategies on tenses are suggested to help instructors or learners who relentlessly face confusions in understanding tense and its usage for communicative English learning and teaching. This study attempts to influence learners' ability to recognize and write tense in authentic contexts not to mention spoken English.

A video-work story analysis system based on emotional state measurement includes a content provision unit which provides story content of a video-work, a display unit which displays content provided by the content provision unit, an emotional state measurement unit which measures a tense-relaxed emotional state of a viewer viewing the displayed story content, a story pattern analysis unit which analyzes the tense-relaxed emotional state measured from the emotional state measurement unit according to a scene in the story content provided by the content provision unit, and a story pattern display unit which prints out an analysis result or displays the analysis result as an image. The emotional state measurement unit measures a tense or relaxed emotional state through one or more analyses among a brainwave analysis, a vital sign analysis, or an ocular state analysis. A writer may obtain support in an additional scenario modification work, and an investor may obtain support in making a decision through the above description. Furthermore, the video-work story analysis system and analysis method based on emotional state measurement may extract a particular pattern with respect to a change in an emotional state of a viewer, compile statistics, and analyze a correlation between a story and an emotional state.

This paper is the study on the automatic discrimination of the Korean alveolar stops. In Korean, it is necessary to discriminate the asperate/tense plosive for the automatic speech recognition system because we, Korean, distinguish asperate/tense plosive allphones from tense and lax plosive. In order to detect acoustic cues for automatic recognition of the [ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ], we have experimented the discrimination of [ㄷ,ㄸ,ㅌ]. We used temporal cues like VOT and Silence Duration, etc., and energy cues like ratio of high frequency energy and low frequency energy as the acoustic parameters. The VCV speech data where V is the 8 Simple Vowels and C is the 3 alevolar stops, are used for experiments. The 192 speech data are experimented on and the recognition rate is resulted in about 82%-95%.

본 논문에서는 Reichenbach(1947), Partee(1973, 1984) 및 Klein(1994)이 발전시킨 지시적 시제 이론 (Referential Theory of Tense)을 의미/통사론적으로 형식화 함으로써 이 이론의 의미론적, 통사론적 응용 가능성을 보여준다. 또한 이 논문에서는, 의미/통사론적으로 형식화된 지시적 시제 이론을 종속 문장의 시제와 상의 의미 및 구조 해석을 위하여 도입함으로써 이 이론의 장점과 문제점을 구체적으로 보여주려고 시도한다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure of consumption emotions that consumers experienced in the process of consuming apparel products. Data was collected from 144 female college students living in Busan, and analyzed by salience, diversity, H-index, Clamor's V, and multi-dimensional scaling. The results showed as following; 1. The consumption emotions related to apparel products appeared three dimensions; ‘Relaxed-tense’ dimension, ‘Pleasant-unpleasant’ dimension, and ‘Outward-inward’ dimension. Considering elements of consumption system, the dimensions of consumption emotions in relation to apparel performances were 'Pleasant-unpleasant' and ‘Outward-inward’. The dimensions of consumption emotions experienced in usage situations were ‘Relaxed-tense’ and ‘pleasant-unpleasant’. The consumption emotions related to specific products were composed of ‘Pleasant-unpleasant’ dimension and ‘Outward-inward’ dimension. 2. As the multi-dimension map of this study has much space, it suggested that the scope of consumption emotions related to apparel products was more limited than those related to general situations and products. 3. The structure of consumption emotions in relation to apparel performances appeared to be bisected, while those related to usage situations showed relatively to be dispersed. 4. Although Pleasant-unpleasant dimension was consistent with results of prestudies, the dimensions of ‘Relaxed-tense’ and ‘Outward-inward’ were newly confirmed as the dimensions of consumption emotions related to apparel products. Therefore, consumer's consumption emotions of apparel products were composed of three dimensions, tended to be more limited than those of general consumption situations and products, and differentiated across apparel performances, usage situation, and specific products.

Commercial machine translation systems have been announcing recently, However, there are problems that the systems have shown mistranslations, yet. Among these mistranslations, this paper is interested in the mistakes of tense processing. The paper compares Korean tenses with 12 English ones: present. past, future, present perfect. past perfect, future perfect. present progressive, past progressive, future progressive, present perfect progressive, past perfect progressive. future perfect progressive. Next, we perform the meaning analysis of Korean tenses. Then we describe the structure of the tenses based on Conceptual Graph(CG). In the experiment. the paper implements the program that translates sentences included in the tenses into CG.

The ground anchoring has been utilized over 40 years. It is growing the application of the removal ground anchor with tension force for holding earth retaining constructions in the city. It transmits tension stress of prestressed steel wire through grouting to fixed the ground that is of great advantage adjacent ground stability. Nowadays, we can find the compression dispersion anchor on many site. But, it has some problems in behavior of anchors because of impossible to tense p.c strand uniformly under the existing equipment due to different length of p c strand. Hence, motive of this research was to study the application of the newly developed tension system, that analyze and compare with the current anchoring method build on the data of in-site test and laboratory test. As a result, in case of auto back tension system, it became clear that tension pressure was equally distributed among the steal wires but the existing tension system showed sign of instability by indicating stress deflection of about 30% compare with design load. This can cause an ultimate failure of the concentrated p.c strand and a shear failure of ground.

We have studied the effect and application of CST which is the function and disease of the autonomic nerve system based on recovery of flexibleness of the autonomic nerve. CST purpose to keep sustenance of human body by recovering joints have limitation of mobility and controlling autonomic nerve system by diminution tense of the sympathetic nerve. CST makes well flowing of CSF by pressure the fourth ventricle of the brain or relaxation of soft tissues of the base of a cranial bone. There is no result of studies about CST in Korea yet. It will bring a benefit if it prove the effect of CST in countries depend on drugs way high such as Korea. It needs positive approach and definite research for the improvement.

We propose a system that automatically recognizes the tense or relaxed condition of scrolling-shooting game subject that plays. Existing study compares the changed values of source of stimulation to the player by suggesting the source, and thus involves limitation in automatic classification. This study applies SOM of unsupervised learning for automatic classification and recognition of player's condition change. Application of SOM for automatic recognition of tense and relaxed condition is composed of two steps. First, ECG measurement and analysis, is to extract characteristic vector through HRV analysis by measuring ECG after having the player play the game. Secondly, SOM learning and recognition, is to classify and recognize the tense and relaxed conditions of player through SOM learning of the input vectors of heart beat signals that the characteristic extracted. Experiment results are divided into three groups. The first is HRV frequency change and the second the SOM learning results of heart beat signal. The third is the analysis of match rate to identify SOM learning performance. As a result of matching the LF/HF ratio of HRV frequency analysis to the distance of winner neuron of SOM based on 1.5, a match rate of 72% performance in average was shown.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of the tablet PC-based Korean high-tech AAC(Augmentative Alternative Communication System) software. In order to develop an AAC software which is appropriate to Korean cultural/linguistic contexts and communication needs of the users, we examined the necessity and ease of use for the communication functions that are required in native Korean communication, such as polite expressions, tense expressions, negative expressions, subject-verb auto-matching, and automatic sentence generation functions, using a scenario-based user testing. We also investigated the users' needs, preferences, and satisfaction for the tablet PC-based Korean high tech AAC using a semi-structured and open questionnaires. The participants of this study were 9 special education teachers, 6 speech therapists, and 6 parents whose children had communication disabilities. The results of the usability testing of the tablet PC-based Korean high-tech AAC software presented positive responses in general, by indicating overall scores of above 4 out of 5 except in tense and negative expressions. The necessity and ease of use in the tense and negative expressions were evaluated relatively low, and it might be related to the inconsistent interface with the polite expressions. In terms of the user interface(UI), there were users' needs for clear visual feedback in the symbol selection and display, consistent interface for all functions, more natural subject-verb auto-matching, and spacing in the text within symbols. The results of the usability testing and users' feedback might serve as a guideline to compensate and improve the function and UI of the existing AAC software.
