  • In a Vehicle, Safety is the most important factor for drivers. It is well known that tire pressure lower than normal reduces the safety of the vehicle. In a consideration of active safety, tire pressure monitoring system is absolutely required. Tire pressure monitoring using in-tire pressure sensors with an RE data link have proven to be best approach to measuring tire pressure over the widest range of operating conditions. In this paper, we describe the parameters of TPMS, the characteristic of tire pressure and temperature compensation. These are the main factors to design the decision logic. We will show the guidelines for TPMS logic development considering environment variables and vehicle conditions.

  • The air data system(ADS) was developed for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) in this paper. Generally, the ADS helps flight control computer(FCC) to control the UAV above the stall speed and to hold the given altitude. The accurate measurement of airspeed and altitude of UAV is important because it indicates a flight performance and assures a safe flight. The ADS consists of MEMS pressure sensors, a lowpass filter, a micro controller unit and a pitot-tube. The ADS errors were reduced by pressure and temperature compensation of MEMS sensors. Finally, the altitude and airspeed data of the ADS was compared with GPS data in the flight test.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a computer operated automatic drip irrigation system for application in vinyl-house cultivation. The results can be summarized as follows: 1) The T-type ice compensation wire was used to measure the temperature. The voltage level measured up to 0.02 volt was used as input to an 8-bit A/D converter. 2) A specially devised tensiometer was used to content the watering system. When the needle of the pressure gauge reaches the lower threshold position it turns on the pumping system and turns off when it reaches higher threshold position. 3) In order to use the multiple gypsum blocks for one transducer, reed relays and a D/O board were used to make the sequential switching possible. 4) It was possible to automate the trickle irrigation system for the whole growth period of vinyl-house crops with the help of microcomputer. 5) In terms of furrow irrigation, the irrigation water consumption was the smallest, 2.8 times less than conventional method of surface trickle irrigation, 3.4 times less than subsurface trickle irrigation method. 6) In terms of productivity of cucumber, there was a drop in productivity when compared to furrow irrigation method, 7.2% for surface trickle irrigation, 27.4% for subsurface irrigation method.

  • Clutch torque control is the key to the ride comfort improvement of a vehicle equipped with AMT (automated manual transmission). For such control, the torque transfer starting point, known as the "kiss point," should be indicated or at least estimated to compensate for the clutch torque. The kiss point changes due to wear, high temperature, and fatigue; as such, it should be estimated while the vehicle is being driven. In this study, the method of kiss point active estimation for an AMT vehicle with a dry-type clutch was devised. The kiss point is learned while the engine is in an idle state and while the transmission is at a neutral gear position. It is determined when the input shaft of the transmission starts to rotate by slowly engaging the clutch. The noise of the shaft speed signal during the slow engagement process is filtered for accurate control. The kiss point estimation at various clutch engagement speeds was analyzed via a vehicle test.

  • The satellite propulsion system provides the required thrust to insert a satellite into the desired orbit after separation from the launch vehicle and to control orbit inclination or compensate altitude loss due to drag after inserted into the desired orbit. The on-orbit performance of LEO satellite propulsion system according to operation mode was verified based on the results analysis for early on-orbit operation. The temperature trends of components and tubing were checked and the resultant trends were within the normal range as well.

  • The speed and position control of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) needs the encoder or resolver to obtain the rotor position information. These position sensors can be affected by the EMI, dusty, and high temperature surroundings. Therefore the speed and position sensorless control has been studied widely In this paper, the binary observer of the SRM which has two feedback compensation loops to control the speed of SRM is proposed. One loop reduces the estimation error like the sliding mode observer, and the other removes the estimation error chattering occurred in the sliding mode observer. This observer is constructed on the basis of variable structure control theory and has the inertial term to exclude the chattering. This method has a good estimation performance in spite of nonlinear modeling of SRM. The advantages of the proposed method are verified experimentally.

  • This paper presents a novel simple filter design method based on a parallel short-ended coupled-line structure with capacitive loading for size reduction and ultra-broad rejection of spurious passbands. In addition, the introduction of a cross-coupling capacitor into the miniaturized coupled-line can create a transmission zero at the second harmonic frequency for better frequency selectivity and attenuation level. The aperture compensation technique is also applied to achieve a strong coupling in the coupled-line section. The influence of using the connecting transmission line to cascade two identical one-stage filters is studied for the first time. Specifically, such a two-stage bandpass filter operating at 2.3 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 10% was designed and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology for application in base stations that need high power handling capability. It achieved attenuation in excess of -40 dB up to $4f_0$ and low insertion loss of -1.2 dB with the size of 10 mm ${\times}$ 7 mm ${\times}$ 2.2 mm. The measured and simulated results showed good agreement.

SAH in KARI is built to simulate the total temperature of the supersonic ground test facility which has a wide flight envelope from altitude 0km, Mach 2 to altitude 25km, Mach 5 and operates up to 1300K, 3.5MPa. In this paper, we introduces the SAH in JAXA which is model of SAH in KARI and summarizes the design process and manufacture of ours.

  • Ultrasonic sensors are widely employed in detecting range to a target by the virtue of their low cost and simplicity. However, the sensor's measurements are corrupted by systematic errors due mainly to the dependency of sound speed upon surrounding conditions and random errors of uncertain origin. In this paper, we present the results of research carried out to reduce these errors for increasing the reliability of an untrasonic sensor system to be used in orbotic or other automated system's range finding. The sensor system designed herein is in a peuliar structure having a reference target and two receivers. Echoes from a small reference target placed at a known distance are used for compensating the variations of sound speed according to the changes of sensing conditions. Unlike existing ones, the technique proposed can compensate the effects of temperature or any other physical parameters without an additional sensor dedicated to the compensation. The measurements by two redundantly employed receivers are fused to reduce random errors in a statistical sense. The correlation of the signals from the receivers sharing a hardware in part is considered in the fusion process. The methodology desicribed in this paepr is conceptually simple, easy to be implemented, and effetive to increase the accuracy of the sensor measurements as experimental results confirm.
