  • Applying an accurate parametric prediction model to identify abnormal or false pressurizer water levels (PWLs) is critical to the safe operation of marine pressurized water reactors (PWRs). Recently, deep-learning-based models have proved to be a powerful feature extractor to perform high-accuracy prediction. However, the effectiveness of models still suffers from two issues in PWL prediction: the correlations shifting over time between PWL and other feature parameters, and the example imbalance between fluctuation examples (minority) and stable examples (majority). To address these problems, we propose a cost-sensitive mechanism to facilitate the model to learn the feature representation of later examples and fluctuation examples. By weighting the standard mean square error loss with a cost-sensitive factor, we develop a Cost-Sensitive Long Short-Term Memory (CSLSTM) model to predict the PWL of PWRs. The overall performance of the CSLSTM is assessed by a variety of evaluation metrics with the experimental data collected from a marine PWR simulator. The comparisons with the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model and the Support Vector Regression (SVR) model demonstrate the effectiveness of the CSLSTM.

  • Heavy metal contents and parasite egg examination for the safety evaluation of dropwort(Oenanthe javanica) from the inside of Chonnam province(5 regions) and suburbs of Kwang-ju(1 region) were investigated. The contents of heavy metals(Hg, Pb, As, Cd, Mn, Zn, Cu) were determined by the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and parasite eggs were examined to various internalparasites(F. hepatica, C. sinesis, G. lamblia, Cryptosporidium, A. lumbricoides and A. duodenale). First, Hg and As were detected in trace level and $0.003{\sim}0.01\;ppm$. Pb was not detected in all samples and Cd contents of dropworts were detected $0.014{\sim}0.087\;ppm$. The contents of 4 kinds of heavy metals(Hg, As, Pb and Cd) in dropworts cultivated in various regions(6 regions) were not detected or trace levels. Therefore, dropworts cultivated in Chonnam province and suburbs of Kwang-ju were free from contamination of heavy metals. Moreover, the result of parasite egg examination(Trematoda, Protozoa and Nematoda) was not detected in all samples.

  • Purpose: This study investigates dental health and chewing ability of patients hospitalized in geriatric hospital, and compares the chewing ability for each factor that can be used as data for dental healthcare of senior citizens and basic data for denture insurance for the elderly. Methods: The 101 subjects of this study were selected from 178 patients hospitalized in a geriatric hospital located in Daegu Metropolitan City, excluding 77 patients who were being treated in the intensive care unit and who were unable to communicate. The chewing ability of the patients were measured using an evaluation scale based on foods consisting of 10 different hardnesses. Results: Patients with less than 21 teeth, those with dentures and patients who were less than satisfied with their dental conditions had difficulties in chewing hard food such as dried squid and radish kimchi, and the Chewing ability increased proportionally to the number of remaining teeth(p<0.001), appropriateness of the maxillary and mandibular dentures(p<0.005) and the level of dental satisfaction(p<0.001). Conclusion: This study is limited as the subjects were selected from a single hospital and the authors estimate that various studies will be necessary to investigate the Chewing ability of patients hospitalized in long-term hospitals. The subjects of this study did not receive any dental treatment while staying in the hospital and many of the subjects had bad fit denture or didn't have dentures or did not use dentures, although they have dentures, which calls for denture construction and prosthetics through dental treatment.

  • It is well known that stiffness of composites depends on layup sequence of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastics) laminates because the layup of composite laminates influences their properties. Ultrasonic NDE of composite laminates is often based on the backwall echoes of the sample. A pair of such transducers was mounted in a holder in a nose-to-nose fashion to be used as a scanning probe on composites. Miniature potted angle beam transducers were used (Rayleigh waves in steel) on solid laminates of composites. Experiments were performed to understand the behavior of the transducers and the nature of the waves generated in the composite (mode, wave speed, angle of refraction). C-scan images of flaws and impact damage were then produced by combining the pitch-catch probe with a portable manual scanner known as the Generic Scanner ("GenScan"). The pitch-catch signal was found to be more sensitive than normal incidence backwall echo of longitudinal wave to fiber orientation of the CFRP composites, including low level porosity, ply waviness, and cracks. Therefore, it is found that the experimentally Rayleigh wave variation of pitch-catch ultrasonic signal was consistent with numerical results and one-side ultrasonic measurement might be very useful to detect the defects.

  • An electromagnetic acoustic transducer(EMAT) is a non-contact transducer which can transmit the ultrasonic guided waves into specimens without couplant. And it can easily generate specific guided waves such as SH(shear horizontal) or Lamb waves by altering the design of coil and magnet. In this study, the SH wave, which is generated by EMAT, has been applied to estimate the thickness-reduction in a steel plate. Especially, the interesting feature of the dispersive behavior in selected wave modes is used to detect the thickness-reduction. Experimental results show that the reduction-level can be quantified by the measurement of the group velocity of the wave which passes though the thinning area.

  • Proper and precise embedding of commercial ads within Webpages requires Ad-hoc analysis and understanding of their content. By the successful implementation of this step, both publishers and advertisers gain mutual benefits through increasing their revenues on the one hand, and improving user experience on the other. In this research work, we propose a novel multi-level context-based ads serving approach through which ads will be served at generic publisher websites based on their contextual relevance. In the proposed approach, knowledge encoded in domain-specific and generic semantic repositories is exploited in order to analyze and segment Webpages into sets of contextually-relevant segments. Semantically-enhanced indexes are also constructed to index ads based on their textual descriptions provided by advertisers. A modified cosine similarity matching algorithm is employed to embed each ad from the Ads repository into one or more contextually-relevant segments. In order to validate our proposal, we have implemented a prototype of an ad serving system with two datasets that consist of (11429 ads and 93 documents) and (11000 documents and 15 ads), respectively. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques, we experimentally tested the proposed method and compared the produced results against five baseline metrics that can be used in the context of ad serving systems. In addition, we compared the results produced by our system with other state-of-the-art models. Findings demonstrate that the accuracy of conventional ad matching techniques has improved by exploiting the proposed semantically-enhanced context-based ad serving model.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of rheological and sensory characteristics of the low-calorie layer cake. It was made with different levels of hydrolyzed oat flour based on the weight of shortening. The specific gravity of cake batter by increasing of hydrolyzed oat flour was decreased. The viscosity, however, was increased. The microstructures of cake crumb observed by the scanning electron microscope showed the decreased number/size of air cells, and the fat particles were also decreased. The texture profile analysis showed statistically significant differences according to the different levels of hydrolyzed oat flour based on the weight of shortening. The hardness, gumminess, and chewiness gradually declined by the increasing hydrolyzed oat flour level while springiness, cohesiveness, and resilience increased. Although taste, texture, and flavor decreased by the addition of hydrolyzed oat flour, it was increased in the appearance, color, and overall preference of the layer cake. Taken together, our results suggest that a 45% addition of hydrolyzed oat flour could be the best replacer for the low-calorie layer cake.

  • This study was carried out to evaluation the recycled waste soils from construction site for planting soil. For this purpose, the concentrations of polluted materials and the physico-chemical properties were measured at recycled soil samples of an industrial waste treating company in the Metropolitan landfill area. The concentrations of polluted materials did not exceed to the standard critical levels of soil pollution in all analyzed items. The measures of the samples soil texture (loamy sand), bulk density (1.09~1.32g/$cm^3$), saturated hydraulic conductivity ($1.6{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}1.8{\times}10^{-3}$cm/sec), solid phase distribution (0.4~0.5$m^3/m^3$), porosity (0.5~0.6$m^3/m^3$), Ex. $K^+$ (1.0~1.2cmol/kg), Ex. $Mg^{2+}$ (0.2~0.6cmol/kg) were identified as not worse than those of conventional planting soil. But the sample soils have serious problems for planting soil such as high levels of pH (9.6~11.5), EC (0.78~1.84ds/m) and Ex. $Ca^{2+}$ (25.6~34.5cmol/kg), low level of organic matter (0.2~0.3%). It is required to improve pH, EC and Ex. $Ca^{2+}$ of sample soils. Consequently, the results suggested a high potential of recycling of the wastes soils for planting soil.

  • Urban sprawl has been the limits of traffic accommodate and the supply road. Thus, Light Rail Transit(LRT) has been proposed as the best alternative. Owing to landscape damage from construction of LRT, landscape planning should be considered seriously in the urban planning step. This paper therefore seeks to determine landscape improvement direction of LRT pier. First, the methods in this study shared landscape improvement direction type of LRT pier through previous studies such as planting of surface(30%, 60%, 90% planting of surface), graphic(character, commercial advertising, symbol), and surface treatment type(exposed concrete, white painting, pattern dies). Next, respondent evaluated 3D simulated landscape image accordingly shared types by preference and landscape adjectives using in streetscape evaluation. As a result, visual preference was the highest in planting type of surface and the lowest in the surface treatment type. Covering 60%(4.48) in planting type of surface was the highest. Because it is similar to the golden ratio considering the visual principle, we will need to take advantage through the result of this paper. Also, most landscape improvement direction which satisfied with significant level showed a positive effect from landscape improvement. Comprehensively based on these results, it suggests desirable landscape improvement direction of LRT pier in the city for solution of landscape inhibition problem.
