  • SMBA (Small and Medium Business Administration) and TIPA (Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs) have operated the Business Innovation Platform for SME Informatization based on cloud computing technology with the cooperation of seven industry cooperatives since 2013. This project will evolve into the open market platform where service providers and users voluntarily participate and transact. This research conducts the literature review about the concept of open market and the empirical analysis through survey for the software providers and the future users regarding the future operation methods. The policy about how the open market strategy for the business innovation platform needs to be designed and implemented are organized as the three differentiated government support strategies. The first is to provide free IT services including specialized core operation support S/W which is developed only for the small or home office group of firms which lack minimal informatization capability and budget. The second is to augment IT platform service through incorporating ERP supplier initiated commercial S/W sales window for those firms having medium level informatization capability. This includes to provide IT support for customization and system integration with existing government subsidized S/W. The third is to provide upgrading services of existing S/W functions to facilitate better system utilization. The results provide useful insight for government role to enhance SME competitiveness using IT.

  • This study aims to analyze the effect of absorptive capacity on technology collaboration performance and the moderating effect of innovation intermediaries. We set absorptive capacity (potential, realized) as independent variables and technology collaboration performance (relative technology level, development period, cost savings, new product development, collaboration satisfaction) as dependent variables, with innovation intermediaries as a moderating variable. We conducted a survey of 145 ICT companies that experienced technology collaboration and analyzed the data using 101 valid responses. The results show that potential absorptive capacity has a significant effect on new product development and collaboration satisfaction, while realized absorptive capacity has a significant effect on relative technology level, cost savings, and new product development. Furthermore, innovation intermediaries have a moderating effect between realized absorptive capacity and new product development. The contribution of this study to academia and industry is that it highlights absorptive capacity as a key factor influencing technology collaboration performance. The limitations of this study include the lack of accurate measurement of absorptive capacity and innovation intermediaries, as well as a lack of control over external factors. These limitations should be addressed through more in-depth research by systematically defining and measuring them in future follow-up studies.

  • The study developed the ideas of innovation resistance attitude in view of innovation delay, rejection, and objection. Authors developed the idea of innovation resistance attitudes of customers in view of innovation diffusion process. The study categorized the idea of resistance such as delay, rejection, and objection. The study hired the structural equation modeling to evaluate the relationships among the consumers' subjective variables such as incongruence, uncertainty, perceived performance, peer usage, and tradition orientation those were factored out by the survey test. These measured variables were analyzed into the innovation resistance related latent variables. The study provides the basic treatment to introduce new technologies and products to the superficially resisting customers. Those resisting customers might be future late adopters. The research results provide the basic arguments for prerequisite treatment to introduce smart phone in the global market place.

  • This study empirically examines the relationship between technology licensing and licetnsee firms' profitability. A significant positive effect of licensing on profitability is generally demonstrated in both the short run and the long run. Further, the magnitude of positive effect is bigger in the long run than that in the short run. The paper suggest that, for firms, aggressive management strategy of collaborating with technology holders through licensing agreements is beneficial. It also argues that transferred technology requires time to be implemented, modified and mastered better by companies.

  • Many technology innovations fail. Only a few of them are successfully implemented. Most of the remaining are discontinued before long or fail to be routinized. Although employees attempted to adopt the innovation for some legitimacy reasons, they have not reached the stage of internalization in which they believe in the real value of the innovation and become committed to the innovation. The deficiency of internalization was utilized in many studies as an important factor for explaining the failed innovation cases. However, few empirical studies examine the role of internalization in technology adoption. This study aims to investigate a mediating effect of internalization on technology adoption.
