  • The purpose of the study of multi-robot system is to realize multi-robot system easy for the control of robot system in case robot is adapted in the complicated environment of task structure. The purpose of the study of multi-robot system is to realize multi-robot system easy for the control of robot system in case robot is adapted in the complicated environment of task structure. To make real time control possible by making effective use of recognized information in this dynamic environment, suitable distribution of tasks should be made in consideration of function and role of each performing robots. In this paper, IHMA (Intelligent Hybrid Modular Architecture) of Intelligent combined control architecture which utilizes the merits of deliberative and reactive controllers will be suggested and its efficiency will be evaluated through the adaptation of control architecture to representative multi-robot system.

Technology Requirements for Wearable User Interface

  • Objective: The objective of this research is to investigate the fundamentals of human computer interaction for wearable computers and derive technology requirements. Background: A wearable computer can be worn anytime with the support of unrestricted communications and a variety of services which provide maximum capability of information use. Key challenges in developing such wearable computers are the level of comfort that users do not feel what they wear, and easy and intuitive user interface. The research presented in this paper examines user interfaces for wearable computers. Method: In this research, we have classified the wearable user interface technologies and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages from the user's point of view. Based on this analysis, we issued a user interface technology to conduct research and development for commercialization. Results: Technology requirements are drawn to make wearable computers commercialized. Conclusion: The user interface technology for wearable system must start from the understanding of the ergonomic aspects of the end user, because users wear the system on their body. Developers do not try to develop a state-of-the-art technology without the requirement analysis of the end users. If people do not use the technology, it can't survive in the market. Currently, there is no dominant wearable user interface in the world. So, this area might try a new challenge for the technology beyond the traditional interface paradigm through various approaches and attempts. Application: The findings in this study are expected to be used for designing user interface for wearable systems, such as digital clothes and fashion apparel.

  • XML is a standard markup language for exchange and storage of formed or well-formed information in World Wide Web. Because the source data of XML message for exchange of information in World Wide Web is stored in legacy database, it is necessary for the easy connection between XML application and database system. In Oracle8i, 9i, Informix and SQL2000, DBMS vendors make upgrade to DBMS for using XML. This method of upgrade between XML application and database system is Platform-dependent and DBMS-dependent. Also It is necessary for the method of the platform- and DBMS-independent connection between XML application and database system. The methods for the connection between XML DTD and RDB schema are studied for the easy connection between XML application and database system. But the study for the easy connection between XML DTD and ORDB schema is a little. For multimedia application, we use the extended DBMS from RDBMS. It is necessary for the study to the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema. In this paper, for easier connection between XML application and database system, we propose the method of the transformation from XML DTD to ORDB schema using Object Model.

Boundary Method for Shape Design Sensitivity Analysis in Solving Free-Surface Flow Problems

  • An efficient boundary-based optimization technique is applied in the numerical computation of free surface flow problems, by reformulating them into the equivalent optimal shape design problems. While the sensitivity in the boundary method has mainly been calculated using the boundary element method (BEM) as an analysis means, the finite element method (FEM) is used in this study because of its popularity and easy-to-use features. The advantage of boundary method is that the design velocity vectors are needed only on the boundary, not over the whole domain. As such, a determination of the complicated domain design velocity field, which is necessary in the domain method, is eliminated, thereby making the process easy to implement and efficient. Seepage and supercavitating flow problem are chosen to illustrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method.

인텔 비휘발성 메모리 기술 동향 (Trend of Intel Nonvolatile Memory Technology)

  • With the development of nonvolatile memory technology, Intel has released the Optane datacenter persistent memory module (DCPMM) that can be deployed in the dual in-line memory module. The results of research and experiments on Optane DCPMMs are significantly different from the anticipated results in previous studies through emulation. The DCPMM can be used in two different modes, namely, memory mode (similar to volatile DRAM: Dynamic Random Access Memory) and app direct mode (similar to file storage). It has buffers in 256-byte granularity; this is four times the CPU (Central Processing Unit) cache line (i.e., 64 bytes). However, these properties are not easy to use correctly, and the incorrect use of these properties may result in performance degradation. Optane has the same characteristics of DRAM and storage devices. To take advantage of the performance characteristics of this device, operating systems and applications require new approaches. However, this change in computing environments will require a significant number of researches in the future.

An Activity-Centric Quality Model of Software

  • In this paper, software activity, software activity instance, and the quality of the activity instance are defined as the 'activity which is performed on the software product by a person or a group of persons,' the 'distinctive and individual performance of software activity,' and the 'performer's evaluation on how good or bad his/her own activity instance is,' respectively. The representative values of the instance quality population associated with a product and its sub-population are defined as the (software) activity quality and activity quality characteristic of the product, respectively. The activity quality model in this paper classifies activity quality characteristics according to the classification hierarchy of software activity by the goal. In the model, a quality characteristic can have two types of sub-characteristics : Special sub-characteristic and component sub-characteristic, where the former is its super-characteristic too simultaneously and the latter is not its super-characteristic but a part of its super-characteristic. The activity quality model is parsimonious, coherent, and easy to understand and use. The activity quality model can serve as a corner stone on which a software quality body of knowledge, which constituted with a set of models parsimonious, coherent, and easy to understand and use and the theories explaining the cause-and-relationships among the models, can be built. The body of knowledge can be called the (grand) activity-centric quality model of software.

  • An autoinjector allows a single use medical device serving for automatic intramuscular injection to deliver a dose of a particular emergency drug through an intuitive activation mechanism. By design and structure, autoinjectors are easy to use and are intended for self-administration by patients or untrained personnel. Depending on the number of drugs filled in the cartridge, autoinjectors are divided by one-chamber type and multi-chamber type. Most autoinjectors may have a special structure including spring-loading syringes and needle which is specially designed to ensure strength due to the necessity of penetration through layers of clothing. The purpose of this study was to introduce the design technology of autoinjector of multi-chamber type that could be released into the two drugs sequentially. Additionally, we verified performance of the prototype developed by applying the design.

Traffic Accident Detection Based on Ego Motion and Object Tracking

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to detect traffic accidents in video from vehicle-mounted cameras (vehicle black box). We use the distance between vehicles to determine whether an accident has occurred. To calculate the position of each vehicle, we use object detection and tracking method. By the way, in a crowded road environment, it is so difficult to decide an accident has occurred because of parked vehicles at the edge of the road. It is not easy to discriminate against accidents from non-accidents because a moving vehicle and a stopped vehicle are mixed on a regular downtown road. In this paper, we try to increase the accuracy of the vehicle accident detection by using not only the motion of the surrounding vehicle but also ego-motion as the input of the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN). We improved the accuracy of accident detection compared to the previous method.

  • This study uses MATLAB as a programming tool and applies the bootstrap method to process capability analysis. The advantage of using MATLAB in bootstrap method is to make the bootstrap method much easier to implement and apply particularly in process capability analysis. An example is provided to further illustrate the easy use of MATLAB in bootstrap method.

  • This paper describes an expert system for soldiers psychology diagnosis. In the field warfare, platoon leaders or company commanders have to diagnose his soldier's condition correctly. The expert systems, a field of artificial intelligence, can be appropriate approach for ill-structured paradigm. This use an UNIK system. This UNIK system is composed of UNIK-FRAME, UNIK-BWD, UNIK-WBI, UNIK-INDUCE and UNIK-Interface. Especially, UNIK-WBI system is very useful to display soldiers psychology diagnosis and so easy to use it. Any leader or commander can easily do this. This paper data is based on DSMIV. Through This expert system, combat power can be kept and accidents be protected.
