A status survey on satisfaction and career plan of students majoring in agricultural machinery in technical highschool was measured. The survey results showed that the selection motivation for technical high school was mainly due to the academic score obtained during middle school, and an academic major for agricultural machinery was mainly based on personal interest and aptitude. About 90% of the students answered as "normal" or "satisfied" to the questions asking satisfaction level for agricultural machinery major and education. For career plan, 68.5% of the students answered as "entrance into academic schools for higher level education" and 31.5% answered as "employment". Most preferred higher level education area was "engineering" (30.8%) and "agricultural machinery" was only 12.6%. • Purpose: This study was done to develop and test a structural model on smoking cessation intention in technical high school men. The conceptual model was based on the theory of reasoned action and health promotion model. Methods: From May 29 to April 13, 2015, 413 technical high school students who smoked completed a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed to calculate the direct and indirect effects of factors affecting smoking cessation intention. The SPSS WIN 20.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs were used. Results: The hypothetical model was a good fit for the data. The model fit indices were $x^2/df=2.36$, GFI=.95, AGFI=.92, NFI=0.97, and RMSEA=.05. Self-esteem had direct and indirect effects on smoking cessation intention. Attitude, subjective norm, and self-efficacy had direct effects on smoking cessation intention. Smoking knowledge and environmental factor had indirect effects on smoking cessation intention. This model explained 87.0% of the variance in smoking cessation intention. Conclusion: These results indicate that technical high school students' intention to stop smoking can be improved through an increase in self-esteem, negative environmental factors, attitude toward smoking cessation, subjective norm about smoking cessation, and self-efficacy for smoking cessation.

  • This study was designed to investigate actual conditions of textile design education at technical high school in Korea, and to present possible solutions for improving its effectiveness. Inchon Girl's Polytechnic high School was selected as sample of case study because it was the only school which has textile design major. Survey was done through questionnaire and telephone interview. 100 students, 25 graduates, 8 teachers, and 8 managers of textile industry were involved in survey. The data were analyzed by using frequency, t-test, correlation. Statistical analysis resulted in the following suggestions to be considered for maximizing the effectiveness of the textile design education at technical high schools: First, the curriculum should be flexibly reorganized to come up with trends in the market and demands from industry, and also to stimulate and motivate students into the biggest achievements possible. Second, more weight should be given to practical design subjects which have proved to be preferred by students and industry by reducing class hours for non-design subjects or theoretical subjects. Third, equipments and facilities for practical exercise should be open to students anytime needed so that students can improve their practical skills without any restrictions. Fourth, new teachers having majored in textile design at the university should be employed and the existing teachers should be periodically re-educated to keep abreast with new knowledges and technology. Fifth, The solidarity and the connection between schools and companies should be reinforced, not only to provide graduates with more chances to get a job, but also to make education at schools refreshed and updated.

  • In this paper, project based learning model using on-line thinking tool was designed and implemented, and the model is reflected in the instructional design on the IT ethics part included in 'General Computer' subject. This instructional design was applied to the class of the technical high school students. In-depth interview on the consciousness of IT ethics reveals that the positive changes occur in the consciousness of IT ethics, especially netiquette, Internet communications languages, copyright, and so on. Also, the result of the quantitative researches represents that a proposed model have a positive effect on academic self-efficacy of the technical high school students.
