The writing brush, ink stick, paper, and ink stone were the four precious things of the studying and recording in oriental world until even nowaday. The oriental paper was comparatively well evaluated in many papers and reviews, but it is difficult to find some scientific reports or reviews about the ink stick. In this paper, the scientific aspect of ink sticks of oriental maine three country(Korea, China, Japan) were evaluated by the physical, chemical and microscopic analysis. The result could summarized as fellows; 1. The Korean lampblack ink stick contains more carbon and less nitrogen and the Chinese ink sticks contain less carbon and more oxygen. 2. The Korean lampblack and cowhide glue contain relatively higher amount of sulphur. 3. The particle size distribution of carbon in the ink stick was not change after grinding in the ink stone. 4. The particle size of carbon and the pore size in the charcoal ink sticks of three country were larger than those of the lampblack ink sticks. 5. The ink solution of the charcoal ink sticks shows high roundness on Hanji while the ink solution of the lampblack ink sticks is spread readily to Hanji surface. 6. The change of whiteness in printing of the ink sticks is notable in thermal treatment.
Background: We measured productivity changes of regional public hospitals using both global Malmquist productivity index-based on global production possibility set over all the periods-and the traditional Malmquist productivity index and analyzed the factors of productivity change. Methods: The data used in this study is two annual inputs and two annual outputs of 32 regional public hospitals in Korea from 2005 to 2009 and the results such as distances and Malmquist productivity index and global Malmquist productivity index are obtained by an R program written for this study. Results: The results can be summarized as follows. Firstly, technical efficiencies of regional public hospitals are affected largely by scale efficiency than pure technical efficiency. Second, productivity progressed and technological change has more significant influence on productivity advance over the period between 2005 and 2009. Third, the circularity problem of the traditional Malmquist index is confirmed, and so the global Malmquist index without this problem are valid for the analysis. Conclusion: Though this study also has some limitations with the data of regional public hospitals with a short time span, it is the first study of hospitals using global Malmquist productivity index and later it can be expanded to private hospitals and longer time periods.
Paper is easily damaged by physical and chemical deterioration under several factors. Damaged paper cultural heritage is usually restored by Lining. A traditional method of Lining is attaching the lining paper behind the original paper cultural heritage using starch and water. It supports the weakened quality of paper. In Japan, paper cultural heritage is restored with "Washi" which is made from mixture of Paper mulberry and Japanese cedar. In the west, the lining paper made from Paper mulberry, which has extraordinary excellent conservativeness, is usually used as a restoration material for paper. But Japanese Washi has dominated the demand for restoration materials as the most preferred restoration paper, and most kinds of paper made from Paper mullbery have been called as 'Japanese paper'. Result showed that the strength of the Korean lining papers was generally higher than that of the Japanese ones. As a result from measuring the rate of dimensional change after water-immersion and drying, sample B of the Korean lining papers and sample E of the Japanese lining papers showed the highest stability.
In this study, the nominal wake field of a semi-displacement type high-speed vessel was computed at full scale by using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and GEOSIM-based approaches. A scale effect investigation on nominal wake field of benchmark Athena vessel was performed with two models which have different model lengths. The members of the model family have the same Fr number but different Re numbers. The spatial components of nominal wake field have been analyzed by considering the axial, radial and tangential velocities for models at different scales. A linear feature has been found for radial and tangential components while a nonlinear change has been obtained for axial velocity. Taylor wake fraction formulation was also computed by using the axial wake velocities and an extrapolation technique was carried out to get the nonlinear fit of nominal wake fraction. This provides not only to observe the change of nominal wake fraction versus scale ratios but also to estimate accurately the wake fraction at full-scale. Extrapolated full-scale nominal wake fractions by GEOSIM-based approach were compared with the full-scale CFD result, and a very good agreement was achieved. It can be noted that the GEOSIM-based extrapolation method can be applied for estimation of the nominal wake fraction of semi-displacement type high-speed vessels.
High-rise buildings often can accommodate the population of small horizontal cities. The investment in high-rise buildings is considerable and therefore a rapid return on investment is necessary. The immediate availability of high-rise buildings can be achieved by automated prefabrication of highly finished modules and their instant on-site assembly by robotic and automated construction sites. A high-rise building as a vertical city can be considered as a sophisticated organism that can constantly change throughout its lifecycle in response to economic growth, demographic change, and environmental pressures. To date, many new urban high-rise developments claim to be "vertical cities", yet few represent this important characteristic. This article analyzed the technological readiness and innovations in the field of construction automation and robotics including single-task construction robots, automated on-site construction factories, and ambient assisted living. These technological advances enable the realization of future vertical cities that are able to continuously grow and transform in terms of form and function. Finally, the article proposes a visionary archetype of vertical city in the name of "dynamic vertical urbanism" that is easy to expand vertically and horizontally in order to achieve instant availability and full life cycle resilience thanks to advanced building technologies.
The proper functioning of critical points on transport infrastructure is decisive for the entire network. Tunnels and bridges certainly belong to the critical points of the surface transport network, both road and rail. Risk management should be a holistic and dynamic process throughout the entire life cycle. However, the level of risk is usually determined only during the design stage mainly due to the fact that it is a time-consuming and costly process. This paper presents a simplified quantitative risk analysis method that can be used any time during the decades of a tunnel's lifetime and can estimate the changing risks on a continuous basis and thus uncover hidden safety threats. The presented method is a decision support system for tunnel managers designed to preserve or even increase tunnel safety. The CAPITA method is a deterministic scenario-oriented risk analysis approach for assessment of mortality risks in road tunnels in case of the most dangerous situation - a fire. It is implemented through an advanced risk analysis CAPITA SW. Both, the method as well as the resulting software were developed by the authors' team. Unlike existing analyzes requiring specialized microsimulation tools for traffic flow, smoke propagation and evacuation modeling, the CAPITA contains comprehensive database with the results of thousands of simulations performed in advance for various combinations of variables. This approach significantly simplifies the overall complexity and thus enhances the usability of the resulting risk analysis. Additionally, it provides the decision makers with holistic view by providing not only on the expected risk but also on the risk's sensitivity to different variables. This allows the tunnel manager or another decision maker to estimate the primary change of risk whenever traffic conditions in the tunnel change and to see the dependencies to particular input variables.
The purpose of this study is to identify influencing factors for successful introduction, implementation and management of HMRPS through assessment of the employees attitude toward HMRPS in technical, administrative, and organization behavioral areas. Data were collected from 157 HMRPS employee members' self-reporting questionnaire in three university hospitals in the city of Seoul and Kyonggi Province from November 5 to November 10, 1997. Relevant literature on industry company MPR system theory was reviewed to develop the theoretical framework. The results were as follows: The employee's recognition of tangible benefit were more significantly influenced success than intangible benefit for successful operation relating the HMRPS. Concerning the employee's recognition of the successful HMRPS and the factor of influenced success was significantly positive correlation between tangible and intangible benefits and success factor in technical, administrative, and organizational behavior area. This study showed that major factor affecting the employee's recognition of tangible and intangible benefit for successful HMRPS. For tangible benefits; Success factors in the technical areas were quality of the data and information, efficiency of inventory management and rescheduling of operation plan. Success factors in the administrative areas were: role of top management. Success factors in the organization behavioral areas were; simplicity of the HMRPS, human resistance to change. For intangible benefits; Success factors in the organization behavioral areas were; user involvement, simplicity of HMRPS, human resistance to change. Futhermore as the exact evaluation of successful factors of HMRPS implement is needed, research for the development of systemic variables of physical distribution system control, methods, capacity of system, duration and other environment in many of 30 hospitals or more, and for the empirical study for HMRPS.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the process and the effect of pre-service teacher's scaffolding in environmental camp program about global climate change. For this study, developed the environmental camp program based pre-service teacher's scaffolding and applied to 78 $5^{th}$ students. We analyzed the role of pre-service teacher in the process of scaffolding. In the result, the pre-service teachers conducted cognitive scaffolding like as "Focus", "Hint", "Tell or Summarize" and "Technical Help". They carried out the emotional scaffolding like as "Create Cheerful Atmosphere", "Encourage", and "Help in Living". Teaching and learning about global climate change, the theme of the camp, was regarded uncertain and complex. So, pre-service teacher's scaffolding was effective to promote environmental literacy about climate change of primary students (<0.05). The student teachers understanded the characteristics of the children through emotionally close relationships. The primary students were learned easier about global climate change through cognitive and emotional scaffolding. They experienced environmental practice with communal living in camp.
Automatic land use and land cover change (LUCC) detection via remotely sensed imagery has a wide application in the area of LUCC research, nature resource and environment monitoring and protection. Under the condition that one time (T1) data is existed land use and land cover maps, and another time (T2) data is remotely sensed imagery, how to detect change automatically is still an unresolved issue. This paper developed a land use and land cover class knowledge guided method for automatic change detection under this situation. Firstly, the land use and land cover map in T1 and remote sensing images in T2 were registered and superimposed precisely. Secondly, the remotely sensed knowledge database of all land use and land cover classes was constructed based on the unchanged parcels in T1 map. Thirdly, guided by T1 land use and land cover map, feature statistics for each parcel or pixel in RS images were extracted. Finally, land use and land cover changes were found and the change class was recognized through the automatic matching between the knowledge database of remote sensing information of land use & land cover classes and the extracted statistics in that parcel or pixel. Experimental results and some actual applications show the efficiency of this method.
