  • Capstone design is a creative and comprehensive educational program requiring practical adaptation skills for the industry. The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of design development, lectures and curriculum satisfaction for textile fashion products based on four years of capstone design curriculum from 2015 to 2018. The curriculum consists of 26 groups of 72 students and a total of 26 final results were obtained via industry-university cooperation. The materials for product design development included differentiated clothing, leisure goods, bags, dog goods, smart goods, interior goods and recycled products based on textiles. The degree of satisfaction with lectures involving the capstone design class was very high, with 4.2 out of 5.0 when the number of students was less than 10. However, when the number of students was 20 or higher and the number of students was large, the level of satisfaction was below 3.88. Therefore, the capstone design class comprising less than 10 students was better at individual teaching and teamwork. In terms of satisfaction with capstone design curriculum, the respondents indicated that the teaching method addressing the needs of industry and academia facilitated practical learning. It was very helpful in improving competency related to the design and development majors and future employment. The capstone design curriculum was effective in the training for practical design development and planning.

  • The 7th Curriculum emphasizes that in mathematics classes, mathematical concepts be understood and mathematical problems be solved through student's own exploratory activities including the use of data, manipulatives, andtechnological devices. Following the main idea of the Seventh Mathematics Curriculum, this paper dealt with instructional methods applied suitably and effectively in mathematics classes, and focused on the 'exploratory learning in groups' method in mathematics education. For this purpose, this paper reviewed and summarized theories related to general pedagogy and of mathematics education. Based on the results, it investigated appropriate instructional methods in mathematics education. In particular, this paper focused on studying the exploratory learning method while investigating its properties and understand- ing the relationship between the 'exploratory learning in groups' method and the discussion-centered method. Finally, in order to show the usefulness of the exploratory learning method, this paper developed an example of a teaching module using the exploratory learning method in addition to discussion and lecture-centered methods by the use of manipulatives. The main goal of the module was to make students understand the principle of multiplication of integers.

  • It is important to know science terminology when learning science. In terms of linguistic and psychological perspectives, the context of encountering a terminology for the first time is critical. If a student has not learned the terminology properly the first time, it might cause misconceptions or be a barrier in following learning. This study aims to identify how careful science terminology are used in science textbooks, and the relationship of using science terminology between science curriculum and middle school science textbooks in the 2009 National Curriculum. In addition, the educational need, the importance of science learning, proper time for teaching, & difficulty of the terminologies have been surveyed among teachers and students. As results of study show, only 25% of terminologies in science textbooks have appeared in the curriculum, and about 10% have been used in middle school science textbooks prior to science curriculum. The survey results suggested that many of those terminologies could cause problems in teaching and learning situation. The solution for them have been divided into the following: avoiding usage in textbook prior to curriculum, using earlier in textbooks, using earlier in curriculum, and reflecting curriculum precisely in the textbook. In general, the curriculum needs to state performing objectives concretely. And it is needed to examine science terminology advertently when writing textbooks.

  • This work aims to investigate mathematics teachers' knowledge and belief on the high school probability and statistics. For this aim, two research questions are estabilished as follows. (1) How is mathematics teachers' knowledge on the main contents of the high school probability and statistics in the 7th mathematics curriculum? (2) What is mathematics teachers' belief on the high school probability and statistics? Survey and interviews were carried out to answer the above research questions. Subjects of the survey were 2 7mathematics teachers who were answered to questionnaire. Among them, 3 volunteers were chosen by provinces for in-depth interview. Research findings in mathematics teacher's knowledge are as follows. Firstly, mathematics teachers do not have much of mathematical knowledge on the newly added and changed contents of the high school probability and statistics in the 7th mathematics curriculum. Secondly, mathematics teachers do not change their teaching-learning method for probability and statistics. Thirdly, many teachers think that the use of technology and reconstruction of the textbooks are required in teaching and learning of the high school probability and statistics. But, they stick on their own way. Research findings in mathematics teachers' belief are as follows. Firstly, many mathematics teachers view the nature of statistics as a branch of the applied mathematics and put the value of high school probability and statistics on the practical usefulness, Secondly, many mathematics teachers think that understanding concepts and improving problem solving ability are the best method of the teaching and learning. Thirdly, many mathematics teachers think that high school probability and statistics textbooks should cause motivations and interests in order not to give up studying probability and statistics. It is expected that the above findings can be used to change teachers' teaching and learning methods and to improve teachers training program.

  • Researchers and curricula continue to call for proof to serve a central role in learning of mathematics throughout kindergarten to grade 12 and beyond. Despite its prominence and recognition gained during past decades, proof is still a stumbling block for both teachers and students. Research efforts have been made to address issues related to teaching and learning of proof. An area in which such research efforts have been made is analysis of curriculum material (i.e. textbook analysis) with a focus on proof. This study is another research effort in this area of research through investigating the guidance offered in curriculum materials with the following research question: What is the nature (e.g., kinds of content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge) of guidance is offered for teachers to implement proof tasks in grade 8 geometry textbooks? Results indicate that the guidance offered for proof tasks are concerned more with content knowledge about the content-specific instructional goals than with pedagogical content knowledge which supports teachers in preparing in-class interactions with students to teach proof.

  • Teachers should be able to reorganize the curriculum according to the student level, reorganize textbooks freely, and distribute them to students. However, current paper-textbooks are difficult to modify or edit some contents and distribute them to students, also current digital textbooks are grouped into units, so the order or educational resources cannot be reconstructed. In addition, The digital textbooks are difficult to update external links or the latest resources, and to contain various multimedia materials or high-definition realistic content due to capacity limitations. Therefore, this study presented functions: teaching and learning and evaluation functions, resources search and sharing functions, learning records and analysis functions, screen showing and printing functions, so that teachers can provide customized learning by level to students using digital textbooks. Through the expert Delphi survey, detailed functions for each area were divided into teachers and students. We proposed expanding and developing digital textbooks to various subjects, and distributing various teaching and learning models using digital textbooks.

  • Residents serve as educators who teach patients, medical students, fellow residents, and other medical personnel while being trained as learners. The purpose of this study was to review the literature on the competencies, perceptions, and educational status of residents as teachers, and to suggest appropriate competencies and curricular components. A literature review was conducted and resident-related institutional homepages were searched. Many countries are developing the educational competencies of residents as teachers and implementing educational programs. Residents most often taught clinical knowledge and clinical skills to patients, medical students, fellow residents, and other medical professionals, and recognized the importance of education, the joy of teaching, and the role of teachers; however, the task of teaching was burdensome. Based on these findings, competencies and educational programs for the resident as teacher are proposed. The competencies consist of the five stages of ACCESS (active learner, clinical teacher, curriculum developer, educational scholar, social communicator, supervisor/leader), and specific teaching content, methods, and assessment methods are suggested to develop these competencies. Educating residents to develop their competencies as teachers is very important as a way to foster lifelong learning skills, help others, and assist in leadership roles.

  • Mathematical creativity is essential in school mathematics and mathematics curriculum and ensures the growth of mathematical ability. Therefore mathematics educators try to develop students' creativity via mathematics education for a long time. In special, 2011 revised mathematics curriculum emphasizes mathematical creativity. Yet, it may seem like a vague characterization of mathematical creativity. Furthermore, it is needed to develop the methods for developing the mathematical creativity. So, the goal of this paper is to search for teaching and learning models for developing the mathematical creativity. For this, I discuss about issues of mathematical creativity and extract the factors of mathematical creativity. The factors of mathematical creativity are divided into cognitive factors, affective factors and attitude factors that become the factors of development of mathematical creativity in the mathematical instruction. And I develop 8-teaching and learning models for development of mathematical creativity based on the characters of mathematics and the most recent theories of mathematics education. These models make it crucial for students to develop the mathematical creativity and create the new mathematics in the future.
