Video Based Tail-Lights Status Recognition Algorithm (영상기반 차량 후미등 상태 인식 알고리즘)

  • Automatic detection of vehicles in front is an integral component of many advanced driver-assistance system, such as collision mitigation, automatic cruise control, and automatic head-lamp dimming. Regardless day and night, tail-lights play an important role in vehicle detecting and status recognizing of driving in front. However, some drivers do not know the status of the tail-lights of vehicles. Thus, it is required for drivers to inform status of tail-lights automatically. In this paper, a recognition method of status of tail-lights based on video processing and recognition technology is proposed. Background estimation, optical flow and Euclidean distance is used to detect vehicles entering tollgate. Then saliency map is used to detect tail-lights and recognize their status in the Lab color coordinates. As results of experiments of using tollgate videos, it is shown that the proposed method can be used to inform status of tail-lights.

Distribution and Composition of Dietary Fiber in Various Parts of Ginseng Root (인삼의 부위별 식이섬유소 분포 및 조성)

  • Six-year-old ginseng roots were divided into rhizome, main root (epidermis, cortex and xylem) and lateral root (big tail root, mid tail root and fine tail root) and the concentration levels of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) in each part of the ginseng were investigated. The amount ratios of SDF to IDF (SDF/IDF) in various parts of the ginseng root were also compared. The concentration levels of SDF and IDF in the ginseng root were 6.56% and 15.41 %, respectively, where the level of SDF in main root was a little higher than that of lateral root. However the amount of IDF in main root was lower than that of lateral root. The SDF/IDF was highest in main root, 0.513, which was higher than that of lateral root or rhizome. The SDF/IDF was 0.704 in xylem, 0.478 in cortex, and 0.099 in epidermis of the main root and the SDF/IDF was 0.576 in big tail root, 0.463 in mid tail root, and 0.255 in fine tail root of the lateral root. It has been reported that SDF might have preventive effects on diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, colon and rectum cancers, while IDF might have preventive effects on constipation. Therefore, main root of six-year- old ginseng root is thought to have a little different physiological activity from lateral or fine tail roots.

  • The Pareto principle, also known as the 80/20 rule, describes this common pattern of sales concentration. But long tail principle, that expose the power of majority which had been put aside for a long time, rise as a new business strategy in web 2.0 era. In digital and online environment, as created the conditions that satisfy the need of diversity, long-tail effect has been relevant to all social cultures. This paper consider the long-tail effect from a library service point of view and develop library's long-tail strategies. For the more, suggest practical plan about library long-tail based on library 2.0.

  • It is very important to find out causes of strip pinching for the high quality of products and for the stable operation of hot roiling system. We have examined the strip pinching from three points of view to find out the causes of strip pinching in hot rolling system: strip shape, rolling operation conditions, and behavior of strip. Wedge, off center, and difference of rolling force through CMD are found to possibly provide major initial causes of strip pinching. Generally strip pinching occurred in the tail of strip. Thus, computer simulations by using a FEM code were also carried out to find out the initial mechanism of strip pinching depending upon the force and geometric boundary conditions at the time of strip tail rolling. The strong compression force effect due to the sudden release of strip tail from the work roll and non-uniform strip tail shape (ex. Tongue tail) across the CMD were found to provide possible major causes of strip pinching.

  • This document illustrates the way to control of coiling temperature(CTC) of stip tail part in minimill process. The coiling temperature (CT) is very important fact in hot rolling process because the mechnical properties of strip depend on it. In mini-mill pocess, the speed pattern of rolling is different from that of conventional hot rolling. We have a lot of difficulties in controlling the coiling temperature at strip tail part, because after the strip tail is passed out the final stand, it's impossible to control the coiling temperature by using coiling speed. So we have CT deveiation in this gauge, about 160$^{\circ}C$ below in comparison with target CT. It's clear that deviation of mechanical properties(tensile strength, vield ratio etc) of strip to direction of length is so large, so we could not produce middle carbon steel, like this temperature condition. New coiling temperature control of strip especially in strip tail was developed.   • According to the aviation statistics, tail strike incidents and accidents are cyclic. Although many tail strikes occurred during takeoff, these are less than during landing cases. Many cases are related on human factors. In my opinion it is possible to analyze the causes of takeoff tail strikes to some extent. There are major casual factors of tail strike during takeoff such as; (1) Mis-trimmed horizontal stabilizer (2) premature rotation prior to $V_R$ (3) Excessive pitch up rate during rotation (4) Improper use of the flight director. Among these causes improper use of flight director is excluded in this paper because it is recommended that pilot should use flight director after airborne. So I analyzed the other three causes as following. Firstly, because mis-trimmed stabilizer is related to center of gravity(CG), the relationship between stabilizer and CG is reviewed. Secondly, concerned premature rotation prior to $V_R$ I reviewed the background of rotation speed($V_R$) establishment and analyzed theoretically what speed leads to tail strikes. Thirdly, concerning excessive pitch up rate during rotation I analyzed what excessive pitch up rate can decrease ground clearance while using FDR data.

  • The interior noise reduction of construction equipment is concerned for improving the driver comfort in this study. From the baseline test, the exhaust noise gives a big contribution to the interior noise of construction equipment. And the detail noise contribution analysis of the exhaust system, the tail pipe, which is for ventilation an engine room hot air to outside, amplify the exhaust noise around operating engine RPM associated with tail pipe structural and cavity resonances. To remove the noise amplifying effects, the tail pipe has to be shorted its length. Even the noise can be attenuated the ventilation flux when using the redesigned tail pipe is reduced than the original one. Thus, a shape change of the tail pipe is additionally needed for increasing the ventilation flux and attenuating the exhaust noise using CFD technique. The CFD results of the tail pipe give a meaning full information what obstructs the ventilation flex in the current design and how changes the tail pipe.

The Causes of Bolt Breakage During the Tightening of Impellers in Water Jet Propulsion Systems (워터제트 추진기 임펠러 체결용 볼트파손 원인 분석 연구)

  • A water jet propeller is a key component that generates propulsion during the start of a naval vessel. When failure or breakage occurs, the vessel cannot operate. Recently, a flow analysis and structural analysis were conducted to understand the cause of damage to a bolt on a water jet. In particular, the stress and strain acting on the fastening bolt (impeller shaft and tail shaft) were examined to determine the extent of misalignment between the impeller shaft and the tail shaft of the water jet propeller. The study determined that stress and strain were concentrated on the impeller shaft and the tail shaft bolt. The alignment of the propeller impeller shaft and the tail shaft increased significantly in response to the tail shaft bolt. Failure of the tail shaft bolt fastening can lead to misalignment between the impeller shaft and the tail shaft.

Liquidity and Skewness Risk in Stock Market: Does Measurement of Liquidity Matter?

  • Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between stock liquidity and skewness risk-tail risk (stock price crash risk) in an emerging market, in which problems on liquidity are more severe than in developed markets. Research design, data, and methodology: Based on the Thai market stock exchange over the period of 2000 to 2019, our sample include 13,462 firm-period observations. We employ a panel regression models regarding to five liquidity measures. These five liquidity measures cover three dimensions of liquidity namely the volume-based, price-based, and transaction cost-based measures for the liquidity-tail risk relationship. Results: We find a positively significant relationship between stock liquidity and tail risk in all cases. The finding here shows that the higher the stock liquidity, the larger the tail risk is. Conclusion: As the prior studies show inconclusive effect of stock liquidity on stock price crash risk, we demonstrate that mixed results found in prior studies are probably driven from the type of liquidity measure. The stock liquidity-tail risk association is present in the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The results remain the same regardless of the definition of tail risk and liquidity factors. An endogeneity issue is addressed by employing the two-stage least squares regression.

Anatomical and Functional Comparison of the Caudate Tail in Primates and the Tail of the Striatum in Rodents: Implications for Sensory Information Processing and Habitual Behavior

  • The tail of the striatum (TS) is located at the caudal end in the striatum. Recent studies have advanced our knowledge of the anatomy and function of the TS but also raised questions about the differences between rodent and primate TS. In this review, we compare the anatomy and function of the TS in rodent and primate brains. The primate TS is expanded more caudally during brain development in comparison with the rodent TS. Additionally, five sensory inputs from the cortex and thalamus converge in the rodent TS, but this convergence is not observed in the primate TS. The primate TS, including the caudate tail and putamen tail, primarily receives inputs from the visual areas, implying a specialized function in processing visual inputs for action generation. This anatomical difference leads to further discussion of cellular circuit models to comprehend how the primate brain processes a wider range of complex visual stimuli to produce habitual behavior as compared with the rodent brain. Examining these differences and considering possible neural models may provide better understanding of the anatomy and function of the primate TS.
