Compatibility and Properties of SIS Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (SIS계 점착제의 상용성과 점착물성)

  • Compatibility and viscoelasticity in non-solvent type pressure sensitive adhesive of styrene-isoprene-styreno(SIS) block copolymer with tackifier resin were investigated. In the isoprene phase of SIS block copolymer, it was found that it's compatibility with $C^5$ petroleum resin was good, but that with Coumarone-indents resin was not so good. The magnitudes of peel strength, tack, and holding power were as follows : $C^5$ petroleum resin>rosin ester resin>coumarone-indene resin. The tackifier resin with good compatibility in rubber phase was also effective. However, with plateau modulus value of $1{\times}10^6-3{\times}10^6dyn/cm^2$, the effect of pressure sensitive adhesives was excellent.

  • In this study, the properties of acryl emulsion with adjunction procedures of tackifier resin and tackifier emulsion were investigated. Glass transition temperature of acryl emulsions was increased with the content of tackifiers. The initial strength showed the maximum value when the contents of tackifier resin and tackifier emulsion were 10 phr and 15 phr, respectively. Additionally, the strengths on heat and water resistances were increased with the contents of tackifier.

  • In this study, solvent based polyurethane (PU) adhesives were prepared with the hydrocarbon resin and the acrylic modified hydrocarbon resin contents. The solvent based PU adhesive were increased with increasing tackifier concentration. The surface state of films showed good compatibility with increasing the PX-95 concentration but A-1100 series didn't present homogeneous phase more than 10 phr. Mechanical strength and peel strength were maximum at 5 phr tackifier concentration especially PX-95 series in solvent based PU adhesive.

  • In this study we synthesized low VOC-solvent soluble thermo plastic polyurethane, The effect of chain extender and NCO/OH ratio for properties of thermoplastic polyurethane was investigated. Also, we prepared low VOC-type primer by TPU and acrylic modified tackifier resin. When NCO/OH ratio was 2 or more, TPU was insoluble in low VOC solvent. And peel strength was higher value using polar type tackifier than non-ploar type tackifier.

  • A series of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) based hot melt adhesives containing different types and compositions of tackifier resins were prepared to investigate their rheological behavior and T-peel adhesion strength on polyurethane (PU) elastomeric sheets. C5 aliphatic hydrocarbon resin (C5 resin), C9 aromatic hydrocarbon resin (C9 resin), hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene resin ($H_2$-DCPD resin), and dicyclopentadiene and acrylic monomer copolymer resin (DCPD-acrylic resin) were used as the tackifiers for the hot melt adhesives. To determine the polarity of the tackifiers, their oxygen contents were analyzed, and the DCPDacrylic resin was found to contain an oxygen content higher than the other tackifiers. Only the DCPD-acrylic resin showed complete miscibility with EVA and the homogeneous phase of the hot melt adhesive blends at all compositions. The T-peel adhesion strength between the hot melt adhesives and polyurethane elastomeric sheets was mainly affected by the polarity of the tackifier resins in the hot melt adhesives, rather than by the storage moduli, G', of the hot melt adhesives themselves.

  • Hot melt adhesive which is solventless type has been widely used due to the possibility of automated adhesion process. The main purpose of this study is the development of polyamide based hot melt adhesive to improve the property of conventional ethylene-vinyl acetate hot melt adhesive, which has an inherent problem against heat resistance. In this study, it was found that the terpolymers of nylon 6, nylon 66, and nylon 12(CM831, 843P types) instead of nylon homopolymer were suitable base resins for hot melt adhesive, since the disruption of regularity in the polymer chains reduced the crystallinity, resulting in lower melting point and melt viscosity. According to the results, the optimum adhesion property could be obtained by the using 75/25~50/50 weight radio of CM831/843P resin as a base resin. Terpene resin was used as tackifier to improve adhesion and wetting properties. The best result can be obtained with the 10 wt.% addition of terpene resin. The terpene resin acted as proper tackifier in this system which decreased the melt temperature and viscosity, but increased the mechanical strength of adhesive itself. Also, the rheological property of the adhesive changed from typical non-Newtonian behavior to Newtonian behavior as terpene resin was added.

  • Hot-melt adhesive was solid phase in room temperature as 100% solid contents. So it has advantage which attach to substrate with the low pressure heat, fast adhesion speed and environment friendly. In this study, We studied about the effect of a kind of SBS resin and petroleum resin as a tackifier resin and their ratio for hot-melt adhesive on properties. The styrene and $C_9$ resin contents in hot-melt adhesive was increased with increasing viscosity, tensile strength, peel strength and thermal resistance.
