Initial Electrocardiographic Changes associated with Clinical Severity in Acute Organophosphate Poisoning (급성 유기인계 중독과 관련된 초기 심전도 변화)

  • Purpose: Various electrocardiogram (ECG) changes can occur in patients with acute organophosphate poisoning (OPP) and may be associated with the clinical severity of poisoning. The present study aimed to evaluate the extent and frequency of ECG changes and cardiac manifestations, and their association with acute OPP clinical severity. Methods: Seventy-two adult patients admitted to our emergency department with a diagnosis of acute OPP were studied retrospectively. ECG changes and cardiac manifestations at admission were evaluated. ECG changes between respiratory failure (RF) group and no respiratory failure (no RF) groups were compared. Results: Prolongation of QTc interval (n=40, 55.6%) was the most common ECG change, followed by sinus tachycardia (n=36, 50.0%). ST-T wave changes such as ST segment elevation or depression and T wave change (inversion or non-specific change) were evident in 16 patients (22.2%). Prolongation of QTc interval was significantly higher in the RF group compared with the no RF group (p=0.03), but was not an independent predictor for RF in acute OPP (OR; 4.00, 95% CI; 0.70-23.12, p=0.12). Conclusion: While patients with acute OPP can display ECG changes that include prolongation of QTc interval, sinus tachycardia, and ST-T wave changes at admission, these changes are not predictors of respiratory failure.

eRF1aMC and $Mg^{2+}$ Dependent Structure Switch of GTP Binding to eRF3 in Euplotes octocarinatus

  • Eukaryotic translation termination is governed by eRF1 and eRF3. eRF1 recognizes the stop codons and then hydrolyzes peptidyl-tRNA. eRF3, which facilitates the termination process, belongs to the GTPase superfamily. In this study, the effect of the MC domain of eRF1a (eRF1aMC) on the GTPase activity of eRF3 was analyzed using fluorescence spectra and high-performance liquid chromatography. The results indicated eRF1aMC promotes the GTPase activity of eRF3, which is similar to the role of eRF1a. Furthermore, the increased affinity of eRF3 for GTP induced by eRF1aMC was dependent on the concentration of $Mg^{2+}$. Changes in the secondary structure of eRF3C after binding GTP/GDP were detected by CD spectroscopy. The results revealed changes of conformation during formation of the eRF3C GTP complex that were detected in the presence of eRF1a or eRF1aMC. The conformations of the eRF3C eRF1a GTP and eRF3C eRF1aMC GTP complexes were further altered upon the addition of $Mg^{2+}$. By contrast, there was no change in the conformation of GTP bound to free eRF3C or the eRF3C eRF1aN complex. These results suggest that alterations in the conformation of GTP bound to eRF3 is dependent on eRF1a and $Mg^{2+}$, whereas the MC domain of eRF1a is responsible for the change in the conformation of GTP bound to eRF3 in Euplotes octocarinatus.

Dual Birdcage RF Coil for Leg MR Angiography (하지 MR Angiography를 위한 Dual Birdcage RF 코일)

  • A dual birdcage RF coil is proposed for MRI and MRA of the human leg. The proposed coil c can be used to cover the whole human leg by imaging upper and lower parts of the leg separately. In the conventional leg imaging scheme using a single RF coil, the leg has to be r relocated when changing the position of the RF coil thus causing problems in matching the i images from two sets of coils. When using the proposed dual RF coil, however, only the bed h has to be moved to select the imaging region while only one part of the dual coil is used each t time by using current switching and PIN diodes. The utility of proposed coil has been verified b by volunteer MRI and MRA and the imaging results show that the coil is useful for the clinical MRI and MRA of the leg.

  • The substantial improvement of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be achieved with small-size samples or low-field MRI system by high-temperature superconducting(HTS) RF coil. The typical HTS RF coil made of HTS thin film is expensive and is limited the coil geometry to planar surface coil. In this study, commercial Bi-2223 HTS tapes was used as RF coil for a 0.35T permanent MRI system. It has advantages of both much lower cost and easier fabrication over HTS thin film coil. SNR gain of the image obtained from the HTS RF coil over a conventional Cu RF coil at room temperature was about 2.4-fold and 1.9-fold using the spin echo pulse sequence and gradient echo pulse sequence respectively.

  • Diamond film was deposited on Si wafer using $\textrm{H}_2$ and $\textrm{CH}_4$ mixed gas by RF PACVD. Prior to deposition, mechanical scratching was done to improve density of nucleation sites with diamond paste of $1\mu\textrm{m}$ The microstructure of deposited film was studied at various methane concentrations. The deposited film was characterized by XRD(X-tay diffraction), SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) and Raman Spectroscopy The deposited diamond film showed that the crystallite was increased at the lower methane concentration.

  • 본 논문에서는 저전압에서 구동 할 수 있는 압전구동 방식의 RF MEMS 스위치를 설계하였다. 설계는 유한요소기법(FEM)을 지원하는 시뮬레이터 (ConventorWare)를 사용하여 수행하였고, 이를 바탕으로 deflection, contact force, stress 등 기계적인 해석을 함으로써 최적화된 설계를 할 수 있었다. 이번 설계에서는 적절한 contact force를 유지하면서 hinge에서 받는 stress를 최소화하기 위하여 구동기를 2개 사용한 듀얼형식의 모델을 제안하였고, hinge의 모양은 'ㄷ'로 하여 deflection을 향상시켰다. 이 듀얼형식의 최적화된 모델은 signal line과 contact pad 간의 gap이 3.4${\mu}m$일 때, 최초 2.8V에서 contact이 이루어졌으며, 5V에서 12.4${\mu}N$의 contact force와 116MPa의 stress를 얻었고, 차후, SP4T나 SP6T 등의 설계시 공간 효율이 높은 다양한 형태의 구조를 설계할 수 있다.

Ginsenoside Rf inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 induction via peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma in A549 cells

  • Background: Ginsenoside Rf is a ginseng saponin found only in Panax ginseng that affects lipid metabolism. It also has neuroprotective and antiinflammatory properties. We previously showed that Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) inhibited the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) by hypoxia via peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma ($PPAR{\gamma}$). The aim of the current study was to evaluate the possibility of ginsenoside Rf as an active ingredient of KRG in the inhibition of hypoxia-induced COX-2 via $PPAR{\gamma}$. Methods: The effects of ginsenoside Rf on the upregulation of COX-2 by hypoxia and its antimigration effects were evaluated in A549 cells. Docking of ginsenoside Rf was performed with the $PPAR{\gamma}$ structure using Surflex-Dock in Sybyl-X 2.1.1. Results: $PPAR{\gamma}$ protein levels and peroxisome proliferator response element promoter activities were promoted by ginsenoside Rf. Inhibition of COX-2 expression by ginsenoside Rf was blocked by the $PPAR{\gamma}-specific$ inhibitor, T0070907. The $PPAR{\gamma}$ inhibitor also blocked the ability of ginsenoside Rf to suppress cell migration under hypoxia. The docking simulation results indicate that ginsenoside Rf binds to the active site of $PPAR{\gamma}$. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that ginsenoside Rf inhibits hypoxia induced-COX-2 expression and cellular migration, which are dependent on $PPAR{\gamma}$ activation. These results suggest that ginsenoside Rf has an antiinflammatory effect under hypoxic conditions. Moreover, docking analysis of ginsenoside Rf into the active site of $PPAR{\gamma}$ suggests that the compound binds to $PPAR{\gamma}$ in a position similar to that of known agonists.

3T MR Imaging에 적합한 RF Surface Coil의 개발 : 피부 미세구조에 대한 예비 연구

  • Abstract: 현대 질병의 최종진단은 세포수준의 해부형태학적 연구가 일반적이며 광학현미경이나 전자현미경을 이용한 병리조직학적 소견을 바탕으로 진단되어지고 있다. 이러한 진단에는 In vivo 검사가 거의 불가능하여 주로 생검을 통한 연구만 수행되고 있어 진단함에 있어 단계적인 불편이 초래될 뿐만 아니라 악성 종양의 전이를 유발시킬 수 있고 또한 생리 및 생화학적 분석이 어렵다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 고분해능의 RF Surface Coil을 개발하여 In vivo 및 비침습적인 방법인 MR Technology를 이용하고자 한다. Introduction: 피부조직과 같은 미세 인체구조 연구를 위해 고해상도 3T MRI 시스템에 적합한 고분해능의 RF surface coil을 개발하고 있다. In vivo 연구를 위한 여러 parameter를 최적화하여 기능영상에도 부합된다. 비침습적인 In vivo 검사에 의한 세포수준의 극 미세구조의 연구가 가능해짐으로써 과거 시행하던 침습적인 생검없이 각종질환의 진단적 접근이 병리학적 수준으로 향상되어 질병의 정확한 진단이 가능해지게 될 것이다. Method: 고분해능의 RF Surface Coil을 제작하여 3T MR 장비에서 피부 미세구조연구에 보다 적합하도록 In vivo 및 In vitro 실험을 수행하였다. In vitro 실험은 In vivo 연구를 위한 여러 parameter들을 최적화하기 위한 기초 실험을 하였고 다양한 팬톰들을 이용하여 Tl 강조영상, T2 강조영상을 획득하였으며, SNR을 높이기 위한 개선에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. In vivo 실험은 정상피부에서 다양한 부위에 대한 피부영상의 예비 연구를 수행하였다. Result and Discussion: 비침습적인 In vivo 검사에 의한 세포수준의 극 미세구조의 연구가 가능해짐으로써 과거 시행하던 침습적인 생검없이 각종질환의 진단적 접근이 병리학적 수준에서 가능해짐으로써 질병의 정확한 진단이 가능해지게 될 것이다.   • This paper describes about the realization of a remote RF sensor system and its applications. RF Sensor System was designed and realized on DSP over the range of high frequency such as about 200[KHz]. It should be "wireless", "implantable" and "batteryless". Futhermore, the system should be consist of passive components such as R, Land C. The measurement was given using the inductive coupling principle between primary source part and secondary sensor part. This newly developed parameter estimation system can be easily applied to the Ambient Intelligent System including the ubiquitous computing and the sensitive environmental changes.

Decrease of Parasitic Capacitance for Improvement of RF Performance of Multi-finger MOSFETs in 90-nm CMOS Technology

  • In this paper, the RF characteristics of multi-finger MOSFETs were improved by decreasing the parasitic capacitance in spite of increased gate resistance in a 90-nm CMOS technology. Two types of device structures were designed to compare the parasitic capacitance in the gate-to-source ($C_{gs}$) and gate-to-drain ($C_{gd}$) configurations. The radio frequency (RF) performance of multi-finger MOSFETs, such as cut-off frequency ($f_T$) and maximum-oscillation frequency ($f_{max}$) improved by approximately 10% by reducing the parasitic capacitance about 8.2% while maintaining the DC performance.
