디지털 이미지 분석을 이용한 지오텍스타일 공극 분포의 정량화 (Quantitative Evaluation of Geotextile Void Structures Using Digital Image Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 지오텍스타일 공극 크기 분포를 이미지 분석방법을 이용하여 정량적으로 산출하였다. 연구과정은 실내시험을 통해 지오텍스타일-지오멤브레인 층으로 된 재료를 에폭시 레진으로 포화시킨 후, 양생, 절단하여 그 표면을 디지털 광학현미경으로 관찰하고 정량화함으로 이루어졌다. 여기서는 재료공학에서 주로 사용하는 공간학(stereology)의 개념을 사용하였으며, 지오텍스타일 필라멘트에 의해 둘러싸인 공극의 크기를 최대내접공극크기분포(LIOS)로 표현하였다. 지오텍스타일 내부 축적빈도 50%에 해당하는 공극직경이 압축응력이 10kPa에서 300kPa로 증가함에 따라 $45{\mu}m$가량 감소하였으며, 다시 압축응력을 10kPa로 되돌렸을 경우 초기치의 90%정도 수준으로 회복하였다. 마찰형 지오멤브레인 표면에서 연직응력 100, 300 kPa을 받으며 전단되었을 경우 평균 공극의 크기가 각가 32, 16.5% 감소하였다. 본 논문의 시험 및 분석 결과는 지오텍스타일 내부의 최대내접공극 크기분포가 표면거칠기가 다른 지오멤브레인 표면에서 압축 및 인터페이스 전단됨에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지를 보여준다.

Phosphatidic acid에 의한 intercellular adhesion molecule-1 발현 조절에 관여한 MAPK와 PKC-${\delta}$의 역할 (THE ROLE OF MAPK AND PKC-${\delta}$ IN PHOSPHATIDIC ACID-MEDIATED INTERCELLULAR ADHESION MOLECULE-1 EXPRESSION)

  • Background: Phosphatidic acid(PA), an important second messenger, is involved in inflammation. Notably, cell-cell interactions via adhesion molecules playa central role in inflammation. This thesis show that PA induces expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) on macrophages and describe the signaling pathways. Materials and methods: Macrophages were cultured in the presence of 10% FBS and assayed cell to cell adhesion using HUVEC. For the gene and protein analysis, RT-PCR, Western blot and flow cytometry were performed. In addition, overexpressed cell lines for dominant negative PKC-${\delta}$ mutant established and tested their effect on the promoter activity and expression of ICAM-1 protein by PA. Results: PA-activated macrophages significantly increased adhering to human umbilical vein endothelial cell and this adhesion was mediated by ICAM-1. Pretreatment with rottlerin(PKC-${\delta}$ inhibitor) or expression of a dominant negative PKC-${\delta}$ mutant, but not Go6976(classical PKC-${\alpha}$ inhibitor) and myristoylated PKC-${\xi}$ inhibitor, attenuated PA-induced ICAM-1 expression. The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) inhibitor blocked PA-induced ICAM-1 expression in contrast, ERK upstream inhibitor didn't block ICAM-1. Conclusion: These data suggest that PA-induced ICAM-1 expression and cell-cell adhesion in macrophages requires PKC-${\delta}$ activation and that PKC-${\delta}$ activation is triggers to sequential activation of p38 MAPK.

수면박탈에 의한 P300 잠복기 연장과 성격요소와의 연관성 (Correlation Between the Prolongation of P300 Latency during Sleep Deprivation and Personality Variables)

  • 목 적:수면박탈은 인지기능의 저하를 가져오며 이는 신 경생리학적 변화인 P300의 잠복기 연장과 진폭의 저하를 가져온다고 보고된다. 또한 이러한 수면박탈에 의한 변화 정도에 개인의 특성이 영향을 줄 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 수면박탈에 의한 P300의 잠복기 연장 정도와 성격 특성의 관련성에 관하여 살펴보고자 하였다. 방 법:18명의 피험자에게 37시간 동안 수면박탈이 시행되었으며, 2일간의 실험기간동안 아침 7시와 저녁 7시에 총 4차례 P300 검사를 시행하였다. 또한 첫날 10시경에 MMPI와 STAI-T 검사를 시행하였다. 총 4회의 P300의 변화 중 아침, 저녁의 검사 결과끼리 paired t-test를 시행하였다. 이 결과에 기초하여 수면박탈에 의하여 P300의 잠복기 연장이 심하지 않은 군(n=9)(Group A)과 심한 군(n=9) (Group B), 두 군으로 나누었으며, 두 군의 MMPI의 각 척도 점수와 STAI-T 점수를 t-test 통하여 비교하였다. 결 과:수면박탈에 의하여 유의한 P300 잠복기의 연장이 있었다(p<0.005). 그러나 진폭에 있어서는 저녁시간에만 유의한 진폭의 감소가 있었다(p<0.005). 잠복기 연장이 심한 경우(Group B)와 심하지 않은 경우(Group A)를 나누어 MMPI 각 척도 값들을 t-test 시행한 결과, Group B가 Group A에 비하여 Mf척도(t=-2.16, df=16, p=0.046)와 Pa척도(t=-2.61, df=16, p=0.019)에서 유의하게 점수가 높았으며, F척도는 통계적으로 유의한 정도는 아니지만 Group B가 Group A보다 점수가 높았다(t=-2.11, df=16, p=0.052). 결 론:MMPI 소척도 중 F, Mf, Pa 척도가 높은 사람이 P300의 변화로 표현되는 수면박탈에 의한 정보처리 효율성의 저하에 취약한 것으로 보인다. 즉, F 상승으로 표현되는 주관적인 심리적 호소가 많음, Mf의 상승으로 표현되는 예민, 수동, 의존적인 면 그리고, Pa척도의 상승으로 나타나는 예민하고 투사 및 외향화하는 성격이 수면박탈에 취약하다고 추정할 수 있겠다.

Vapor deposition and characterization of parylene films

  • Deposition of parylene (PA) films has been explored at substrate temperatures below 2$0^{\circ}C$ and pressures below 4 torr. The film thickness was measured using AFM and the film thickness measured was 3,500-12,000$\AA$ and the growth rate was 20-70$\AA$/min. T도 dielectric constant of the deposited PA films was found to be 2.66 and the dielectric strength was in excess of 2$\times$105V/cm. The growth rate became a maximum at a precursor decomposition temperature of $600^{\circ}C$. It was found that the growth rate decreased with increasing substrate temperature, whereas it increased with increasing pressure. At a precursor decomposition temperature of 75$0^{\circ}C$ or at a deposition pressure above 1 Torr the film surface became rough due to particle formation in the gas phase. The condensation of a p-xylylene monomer on the substrate surface turned out to be a rate-limiting step in the growth of the PA films.

수직통로의 형상이 연돌효과에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Influence of the Shaft Geometry on the Stack Effect)

  • 고층건물의 수직통로 형상이 연돌효과의 차압과 중성대 위치에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 연돌효과의 발생현상을 가시화하기 위하여 3가지 형상의 수직통로, 즉 단순 수직통로, 승강기 수직통로 및 계단실 수직통로에 대하여 CFD 모델인 FDS(ver. 5.3) 프로그램을 사용하여 수치해석 하였다. 연돌효과 초기(t = 10 s) 차압은 승강기 수직통로인 경우(79.3 Pa)가 이론식 계산 결과(78 Pa)와 잘 일치하였다. t = 300 s 시점에서 중성대 위치는 3가지 경우 모두 49 m 이상으로 이론식 결과 보다 5 m 이상 높게 나타났다. 수직통로 상부와 하부지점 사이의 최대차압은 수직통로의 구조가 복잡할수록 감소하였다. 연돌효과 가시화를 통하여 수직통로 형상에 따라 연돌효과에 차이가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

가정용인공호흡기 적용환자의 간호경험 여부에 따른 병원간호사의 관련 간호지식, 응급대처능력 및 교육요구도의 비교 (Comparison of Hospital Nurses' Knowledge, Emergency Coping Ability and Educational Need according to Nursing Care Experience for Patient Applied the Home Mechanical Ventilator)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the hospital nurses' knowledge, emergency coping ability and educational need about nursing care for patients applied the home mechanical ventilator (PaHMV) and to compare the variables between yes or not experienced on that. Methods: Participants were 91 hospital nurses who worked at the wards where PaHMV can be highly admitted such as respiratory internal medicine, rehabilitation medicine, neurology and emergency room. Data were collected by questionnaires. The analytic methods were $n(%)/M{\pm}SD$, t-test/ANOVA and $X^2-test/ANCOVA$. Results: Knowledge and emergency coping ability were low as $2.27{\pm}0.52$(4 points) and $78.72{\pm}8.06$(100 points) respectively. But educational need was high as $3.10{\pm}0.34$(4 points). Knowledge and emergency coping ability showed the significant differences between two groups (p<.001, p=.048), and the scores of experienced nurses were higher. But the educational need didn't show the significant difference (p=.974). Conclusion: These findings indicate that education on nursing care of PaHMV is needed for hospital nurse. So we have to develop the educational program on nursing care of PaHMV and then operate it with practice and site education.

Comparison of the effects of rapid maxillary expansion and alternate rapid maxillary expansion and constriction protocols followed by facemask therapy

  • Objective: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate and compare the changes in the pharyngeal airway (PA), maxillary sinus volume, and skeletal parameters after rapid maxillary expansion (RME) and alternate rapid maxillary expansion and constriction (Alt-RAMEC) followed by facemask (FM) therapy. Methods: The records of 40 patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion due to maxillary retrognathism were collected, and the patients were assigned into two groups. The first group comprised 8 male and 12 female patients (mean age, $10.0{\pm}1.1years$) treated using RME/FM for an average of 10 months. The second group comprised 10 male and 10 female patients (mean age, $9.64{\pm}1.3years$) treated using Alt-RAMEC/FM for an average of 12 months. Cone-beam computed tomography images acquired before (T0) and after treatment (T1) were evaluated. Results: Regarding the skeletal effects, significant differences between the groups were the increase in ANS-HRP (perpendicular distance of ANS to the horizontal reference plane, 0.99 mm, p <0.05) in the Alt-RAMEC/FM group and the decrease in PP-SN (palatal plane to Sella-Nasion plane, $0.93^{\circ}$, p < 0.05) in the RME/FM group. Maxillary sinus volumes increased significantly in both the groups, and the increase was statistically significantly higher in the Alt-RAMEC/FM group. Although no significant intergroup differences were observed in PA volumes, both lower ($1,011.19mm^3$) and total ($1,601.21mm^3$), PA volume increased significantly in the Alt-RAMEC/FM group. Conclusions: The different expansion devices and protocols used with FM therapy do not seem to affect the forward movement of the maxilla and PA volumes. In contrast, the increase in maxillary sinus volume was greater in the Alt-RAMEC/FM protocol.

  • A high cell density culture system for the anchorage dependent CHO cells was developed based on the combination of in removal of ammonium ion and microcarrier culture system, and semi-fed-batch feeding of glucose and glutamine was employed to the developed culture system. The glass bead was selected as an optimum microcarrier in terms of cell growth. An ammonium ion selective zeolite, Phillipsite-Gismondine, was packed in a dialysis menium ion. The semi-fed-batch operation was employer to the novel culture system for the high density cell culture, and the results showed the cell growth was improved by 32% and tPA productivity by 250%.

Antiplatelet and antithrombotic activities of purpurogallin in vitro and in vivo

  • Enzymatic oxidation of pyrogallol was efficiently transformed to an oxidative product, purpurogallin (PPG). Here, the anticoagulant activities of PPG were examined by monitoring activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), prothrombin time (PT), and the activities of thrombin and activated factor X (FXa). And, the effects of PPG on expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) were evaluated in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$ activated human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Treatment with PPG resulted in prolonged aPTT and PT and inhibition of the activities of thrombin and FXa, as well as inhibited production of thrombin and FXa in HUVECs. In addition, PPG inhibited thrombin-catalyzed fibrin polymerization and platelet aggregation. PPG also elicited anticoagulant effects in mice. In addition, treatment with PPG resulted in significant reduction of the PAI-1 to t-PA ratio. Collectively, PPG possesses antithrombotic activities and offers a basis for development of a novel anticoagulant.

Delayed Surgery for Aortic Dissection after Intravenous Thrombolysis in Acute Ischemic Stroke

  • We report a case of aortic dissection masquerading as acute ischemic stroke followed by intravenous thrombolysis. A 59-year-old man presented with dizziness. After examination, the patient had a seizure with bilateral Babinski signs. Soon after identifying multiple acute infarctions in both hemispheres on diffusion-weighted brain magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) was administered. Both common carotid arteries were invisible on MR angiography, and subsequent chest computed tomography revealed an aortic dissection. The emergency operation was delayed for 13 hours due to t-PA administration. The patient died of massive bleeding.
