  • The WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) supplies mobile convenience to our medical services. But if we have few effective control variables across this service deployment, the hidden distortions or defects of the system might threaten the lives and rights of the stakeholders. Therefore we need to increase the service credibility, to get WBAN effective. This study proposes a governance mechanism using feasible variables that are currently in use in practices in WBAN environments against medical incidents. Control variables were tested in Seoul National University hospital and related medical industries of South Korea. We assume that WBAN systems would be open based on integrating patients, medical employees and law enforcements to get smart theater operations against medical incidents by implementing proposed MJA(Multilateral Joint Analysis) model. MJA model also contributes to the convergence of computer systems and medical services by demonstrating flexible SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) dashboard of healthcare services with credibility factors in medicine. The important components in MJA model across WBAN, were found to be "Safety, Accuracy and Reliability" in priority order. Factor analysis, correlations and ANOVA were used to evaluate this model and an IT dashboard with a realization of mobile application, was used to support participants' decision-making.

  • Space solar sails are a form of spacecraft propulsion using the radiation pressure of light from a star or laser to push enormous ultra-thin mirrors to high speeds. With respect to it, U.S.A, Japan, E.U. and Russia, etc. have performed a substantial research and the space flight test. On May 2010, JAXA succeeded in launching the world's first interplanetary solar sail spacecraft "IKAROS" to Venus. Currently, solar sail propulsion is aimed chiefly at accomplishing a number of non-crewed missions in any part of the solar system and beyond. This paper presents the technology trend of advanced countries on the development of the solar sails as a new propulsion method for the space investigation and travel.

  • Web presence is one of the key issues for extensive deployment of Internet-of-Things (IoT). An obstacle to overcome for Web presence is relatively low computing power of IoT devices. In this paper, we present implementation of an IoT platform based on Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) which is a web transfer protocol proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for the low performance IoT devices such as Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) nodes and micro-controllers. To qualify the performance of CoAP-based IoT system for such an application as smart grid, we designed a test platform consisting of Raspberry Pi2, Kmote WSN node and a desktop PC. Using open source softwares, CoAP was implemented on top of the platform. Leveraging the GET command defined at CoAP specification, performance of the system was measured in terms of round-trip time (RTT) from web application to the Kmote sensor node. To investigate abnormal cases among the test results, hop-by-hop delays were measured to analyze resulting data. The average response time of CoAP-based communication except the abnormal data was reduced by 23% smaller than the previous research result.

  • Construction of power plants and T&D facilities is so difficult because of the civil complaints and the additional cost according to the concerning field conditions. Therefore, various researches and methods have been considered to get solutions in the demand side and energy storage systems have been in the spotlight because of the various functions such as peak shaving, load shifting, and power system stabilizing, and so on. Residential small size batteries are considered in this paper and the economic analysis is carried out to evaluate the reasonable subsidy levels for the deployment of energy storage systems. Various economic parties are considered to find reasonable subsidy level comparing each other, which parties consist of utilities, participants and non-participants in general. The evaluation is based on California Standard Practice Test and the results are able to be used as subsidy guidelines.

  • The Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 had an extensive impact on the national electricity plans. This paper outlines alternative electricity scenarios that meet the goals of nuclear phase-out and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction. This paper also analyzes the results of each scenario in respect to the electricity mix, GHG emissions, costs and employment effects. The Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning system (LEAP) model was used to simulate the annual electricity demand and supply system from 2011 to 2030. The reference year was 2009. Scenarios are reference (where existing plans are continued), A1, A2, B1, B2, and C2 (where the levels of demand management and nuclear phase-out are different). The share of renewable energy in the electricity mix in 2030 for each scenario will be increased from about 1% in 2009 to 8% in the reference scenario and from 11% to 31% in five alternative scenarios. Total cumulative cost increases up to 14% more than the reference scenario by replacing nuclear power plants with renewable energy in alternative scenarios could be affordable. Deploying enough renewable energy to meet such targets requires a roadmap for electricity price realization, expansion of research, development and deployment for renewable energy technologies, establishment of an organization dedicated to renewable energy, and ambitious targets for renewable energy.

  • Recently, many researchers have studied on RFID with the rapid development of RFID technologies. RFID adapts to many applications. A lot of readers may be deployed in some applications. The incorrect deployment of RFID readers occurs reader-to-reader interferences in many applications using RFID technologies. It causes the significant degradation of the RFID recognition rate. Therefore, it is very important to appropriately deploy the RFID readers in terms of costs and system performance. In this paper, we propose a novel RFID sensor network design system with the minimal RFID readers to cover whole regions when an arbitrary blueprint is given.

  • Self healing systems are considered as cognation-enabled sub form of fault tolerance system. But our experiments that we report in this paper show that self healing systems can be used for performance optimization, configuration management, access control management and bunch of other functions. The exponential complexity that results from interaction between autonomic systems and users (software and human users) has hindered the deployment and user of intelligent systems for a while now. We show that if that exceptional complexity is converted into self-growing knowledge (policies in our case), can make up for initial development cost of building an intelligent system. In this paper, we report the application of AHSEN (Autonomic Healing-based Self management Engine) to in OKKAM Project infrastructure backbone cluster that mimics the web service based architecture of u-Zone gateway infrastructure. The 'blind' load division on per-request bases is not optimal for distributed and performance hungry infrastructure such as OKKAM. The approach adopted assesses the active threads on the virtual machine and does resource estimates for active processes. The availability of a certain server is represented through worker modules at load server. Our simulation results on the OKKAM infrastructure show that the self healing significantly improves the performance and clearly demarcates the logical ambiguities in contemporary designs of self healing infrastructures proposed for large scale computing infrastructures.

  • A gas gun system to replicate the flight motions of large caliber spin-stabilized ammunition has been investigated experimentally and numerically. The system is specially designed to study aerodynamic characteristics and dynamics of a flight body ejected from a cargo shell or a subsonic projectile itself at up to 2,000 rpm and 100 m/s. Raynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with a overset mesh technique and 6-DOF dynamics were solved to decide the chamber pressure according to the muzzle velocity input by users. The predicted velocity values show less than 6 % of discrepancies compared to experimental data. The system has successfully been tested for the simulation of deployment of a parafoil for a 155 mm gun-launched projectile.

  • Nowadays there are many studies and there's huge development about USN/RFID which have great developmental potential to many kinds of applications. More and more real time application apply USN/RFID technology to identify data collect and locate objects. Wide deployment of USN/RFID will generate an unprecedented volume of primitive data in a short time. Duplication and redundancy of primitive data will affect real time performance of application. Thus, security applications must filter primitive data and correlate them for complex pattern detection and transform them to events that provide meaningful, actionable information to end application. In this paper, we design a ECA Rule system for security monitoring of exhibition. This system will process USN/RFID primitive data and event and perform data transformation. It's had applied each now in exhibition hall through this study and efficient data transmission and management forecast that is possible.
