  • In this paper, we put forth a procedure that target low power logic synthesis based on XOR representation of Boolean functions, and the results of synthesis procedure are a multi-level XOR form with minimum switching activity. Specialty, this paper show a method to extract the common cubes or kernels by Boolean matrix and rectangle covering, and to estimate the power consumption in terms of the extracted common sub-functions.

  • In this paper, we present a logic synthesis algorithm for low powr design fo combinational circuits. The proposed algorithm reduces power dissipation by eliminating unnecessary signal transitions. The proposed algorithm restructures a given circuit by using a kernel as prediction logic in a precomputation-based scheme such that switching activity of circuit can be minimized. Experimental results show that the system is efficient for low power design of combinational circuits.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for power estimation in nodes of multi-level combinational circuits and describe its application to the extraction of common expressions for low power design. It is assumed that each node is implemented as a complex gate and the capacitance and the switching activity of the nodes are considered in the power estimation. Extracting common expressions which is accomplished mostly by the extraction of kernels, can be transformed to the problem of rectangle covering. We describe how the newly proposed estimation method can be applied to the rectangle covering problem and show the experimental results with comparisons to the results of SIS-1.2.

  • Ferro/antiferroelectricty of liquid crystalline phase of bent-core molecules has attracted great attention since the first discovery of antiferroelectric switching in achiral bent-shaped molecules by Watanabe et at. in 1996. This materials show interesting properties usually observed in chiral system, for example, chiral textures, ferro/antiferrroelectricity, strong SHG activity and linear optical activity. (omitted)

  • Mycobacterium sp. strain JCl DSM 3803 grown in methanol showed no methanol dehydrogenase or oxidase activities found in mast methylotrophic bacteria and yeasts, respectively. Even though the methanol-grown cells exhibited a little methanol-dependent oxidation by cytochrome c-dependent methanol dehydrogenase and alcohol dehydrogenase, they were not the key enzymes responsible for the methanol oxidation of the cells, in that the cells contained no c-type cytochrome and the methanol oxidizing activity from the partially purified alcohol dehydrogenase was too low, respectively. In substrate switching experiments, we found that only a catalase-peroxidase among the three types of catalase found in glucose-grown cells was highly expressed, in the methanol-grown cells and that its activity was relatively high during the exponential growth phase in Mycobacterium sp. JCl. Therefore, we propose that catalase-peroxidase is an essential enzyme responsible for the methanol metabolism directly Of indirectly in Mycobacterium sp. JCl.

  • This paper reduces power dissipation with the minimum switching activity of functional units that have many operators. Therefore, it has more effects of power dissipation that operator dissipation to reduce power dissipation of whole circuit preferentially. This paper proposes an algorithm that minimize power dissipation in functional units operations that affect much as power dissipation in VLSI circuit. The algorithm has scheduled operands using power library that has information of all operands. The power library upgrades information of input data in each control step about all inputs of functional units and the information is used at scheduling process. Therefore, the power dissipation is minimized by functional units inputs in optimized data. This paper has applied algorithm that proposed for minimizing power dissipation to functional unit in high level synthesis. The result of experiment has effect of maximum 9.4 % for minimizing power dissipation.

  • In this paper, we present a reducing power conswnption of a scheduling for module selection under the time constraint. The proposed low power scheduling executes FDS_LP considering low power to exist the FDS scheduling by inputted the behavioral language. The proposed FDS_LP perfonns lower power consumption with dynamic power which is minimized the switching activity, based on force conception In the time step of module selection, an optimal RT(Register Transfer) library is composed by exploration of the parameters such as power, area, and delay. To find optimal parameters of RT library, an optimal module selection algorithm using Branch and Bound algorithm is also proposed. In the comparison and experimental results, The proposed FDS_LP algorithm reduce maximum power saving up to 23.9% comparing to previous FDS algorithm.

  • It is well established that TGF-${\beta}1$ and retinoic acid (RA) cause IgA isotype switching in mice. We recently found that lactoferrin (LF) also has an activity of IgA isotype switching in spleen B cells. The present study explored the effect of LF on the Ig production by mouse peritoneal B cells. LF, like TGF-${\beta}1$, substantially increased IgA production in peritoneal B1 cells but little in peritoneal B2 cells. In contrast, LF increased IgG2b production in peritoneal B2 cells much more strongly than in peritoneal B1 cells. LF in combination with RA further enhanced the IgA production and, interestingly, this enhancement was restricted to IgA isotype and B1 cells. Similarly, the combination of the two molecules also led to expression of gut homing molecules ${\alpha}4{\beta}7$ and CCR9 on peritoneal B1 cells, but not on peritoneal B2 cells. Thus, these results indicate that LF and RA can contribute to gut IgA response through stimulating IgA isotype switching and expression of gut-homing molecules in peritoneal B1 cells.

  • A parallel TBF system that is consisted of two TBFs was developed f ‘ or the long-term treatment of gas-phase trichloroethylene (TCE). Each TBF was operated for TCE degradation or reactivation in a parallel mode, and the effect of switching time and operation variables between the two reactors was investigated. Within 12 hr after switching from TCE degradation to reactivation mode, the MO activity increased up to the initial level. More than 50 % of TCE was degraded for feed concentrations ranging from 5 to 17 ppmv, and completely 100 % removed at concentration of less than 5 ppmv, while TCE removal decreased severely over 28 ppmv. In various empty bed retention times (EBRTs), ranging 상 om 5.2 to 10.7 min, the optimal EBRT was 10.7 min that TCE conversion achieved more than 50 %. For the inlet loading below 23.4 mg TCE/L/day, TCE was entirely removed. The maximal TCE elimination capacity in this system was about 66.63 mg TCE/L/day. During the continuous treatment of TCE over 3 months, TCE removal efficiency was maintained at the range of about 50 %. In these results, the parallel TBF system can be available for the continuously TCE biodegrading operation.
