This paper deals with characteristic analysis of switched reluctance motor including permanent magnet. First, we calculated flux density of switched reluctance motor according to position. Second, analyzed normal force and horizontal force from flux density of machine according to position. Also, analysis result compares with data that is derived through a finite element analysis (FEA), and proved validity.
This study presents a novel twophase eight stator poles and six rotor poles (8/6) switched reluctance machine (SRM) that can compensate for the vibration and noise problems of twophase 6/3 SRM and compare the characteristics of two SRMs. In the case of twophase 6/3 SRM, the short flux path and the flux direction inside the stator are not reversed, so they have high efficiency characteristics. However, the use of three rotor poles causes problems of vibration and noise because the radial force applied to the rotor poles is not balance. The proposed twophase 8/6 SRM has advantages of 6/3 SRM such as the fluxreversalfree stator and it can improve vibration and noise by using six rotor poles due to balanced radial force acting on the rotor poles. In order to make a reasonable comparison between two SRMs, the electromagnetic field structure of 8/6 SRM is designed to have equivalent torque characteristic to 6/3 SRM and then the copper loss and core loss are compared and analyzed. Finally, we compare the effieicney of two SRMs using finite element analysis and compare the distribution of radial force acting on the rotor poles based on Maxwell's stress method.
This paper deals with analysis on dynamic characteristic and circuit parameter of linear switched reluctance motor by electromagnetic analytical method. Above all, using space harmonic method, which is electromagnetic method, the air-gap flux density is analyzed in the both align and unaign positions, and the inductance profile, force characteristic and resistance per phase are calculated by means of the process. The validity of the analyzed results are demonstrated by the finite element method(FEM) and manufacture of the prototype machine. Second, the dynamic simulation is analyzed by the use of circuit parameters derived from analytical method, and the operating system of the prototype machine is manufactured to demonstrated the validity of simulation analysis. As a result, it is considered that the characteristic equation suggested in this paper will contribute to the design, analysis and application of LSRM.
Disk type single-phase switched reluctance motor which has an advantage of simple robust construction, simple control circuity, and low manufacturing cost has a specific property of axial flux machine and radial flux machine simultaneously. So, this DSPSRM has a complicated magnetic circuit and it is difficult to analyze characteristics of DSPSRM for design. In this paper, we used to analyze the effects of radial flux and axial flux simultaneously by 3D-finite element method. From the results of 3-D FEM, we obtained the approximated torque characteristics of DSPSRM. It's analysis results can be used in optimal design of DSPSRM considering the saturation.
The vibrations and noise origin in electric material is due to several coupled physical phenomena. The revolving electric machine complete modeling is complex; it does not allow simple parametric machine structure studies for various operation modes. This work presents a simple electromagnetic model which makes possible the machine principal parts flow estimation from flux density. Special interest is given in determining Switched Reluctance Machine (S.R.M) radial acceleration in accordance with the current supply. Our focus will be only on the magnetic origin efforts that are dominating in the S.R.M. The efforts calculation versus the current is presented in the case of a machine with a linearized rate. These efforts are considered as a tangential force producing the torque and a radial force that generates no torque. The application is realized on a 6/4 low power S.R.M type (6 stator teeth and 4 teeth rotor). The mechanical response is substituted in a transfer function. The model takes account of the power supply of the machine, the relation between the current supply and the efforts as well as the vibratory response of the machine to these efforts. Finally, the model is validated by comparison with similar experimental results within the framework of the definite assumptions.
In this study, two types of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) with segmental rotors are presented in detail. The first is a 6/5 segmental rotor type, whereas the second is a 12/8 segmental rotor type. Both motor types have the same stator, rotor, and winding configurations. The stator is constructed with special stator poles, namely, exclusively designed exciting and auxiliary poles. The rotor is constructed from a series of discrete segments, each of which is embedded into the nonmagnetic isolator. The windings are only wound on the exciting poles, and no winding is wound on the auxiliary poles. Given these configurations, short flux paths and high flux-linkage utilization rate are achieved in the proposed motors, which may reduce the magnetomotive force requirement and increase the electrical utilization of a machine. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed motors, their characteristics, such as magnetic flux distribution, flux-linkage, torque, radial force, and efficiency, are analyzed and compared with those of a conventional 12/8 SRM. Meanwhile, two prototypes, one for each proposed segmental rotor type, are also designed and manufactured. Finally, the validity of the proposed motors is further verified by test results.
Fast and accurate fault diagnosis of the position sensor is of great significance to ensure the reliability as well as sensor fault tolerant operation of the Switched Reluctance Wind Generator (SRWG). This paper presents a fault diagnostic scheme for a SRWG based on the residual between the estimated rotor position and the actual output of the position sensor. Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), which could build a nonlinear mapping among flux linkage, current and rotor position, is utilized to design an assembled estimator for the rotor position detection. The data for building the ELM based assembled position estimator is derived from the magnetization curves which are obtained from Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of an SRWG with the structure of 8 stator poles and 6 rotor poles. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed fault diagnosis method are verified by simulation at various operating conditions. The results provide a feasible theoretical and technical basis for the effective condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of SRWG.
Generally, the Doubly Salient Machine such as Switched Reluctance Motor doesn't have Permanent Magnet, it sometimes adopts permanent magnet or DC filed winding for high efficiency or adjustable speed control. In this paper, adjustable speed range is compared for Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Machine (DSPM), Brushless Doubly Fed Doubly Salient Machine (BDFDS) and Hybrid Excited Doubly Salient Machine (HEDS). Especially, air-gap flux density to the DC field current is shown and the operating speed as the field-weakening is estimated.
Disk type single phase switched reluctance motor which is a simple robust construction, simple control circuit and low manufacturing cost, has a characteristics of axial and radial flux machines. However, because this DSPSRM has a complicated magnetic circuit, it is difficult to analyze the design characteristics.. In this study, the calculation of design parameter based on the conventional design theory of electric machine and the characteristics analysis by computer simulation was performed. As the DSPSRM has the characteristics of both AFM and RFM, it is difficult to analyze its characteristics by the 2D FEM. 3D FEM was applied in the analysis of energy distribution and approximated calculation of torque characteristics with rotor positions. With analysis results, prototype of DSPSRM is manufactured.
