Development and Application of Swatch Materials for Clothing and Textiles Education in Middle School (중학교 가정과 교육 의복재료 단원을 위한 실물 교육자료 개발 및 적용)

  • The study aims to develop teaching and learning media to raise up learners' interests and understanding during clothing class by providing a clothing swatch materials and its guide for applying to the unit of clothing in technology and home economics subject in middle school. To do so, clothing swatch materials, study sheet and guide were developed, applied and then analyzed for their effects. In this study, in order to figure out effects of class using clothing swatch materials on learning interest, learning necessity, learning understanding and academic achievements, the experiment was conducted for comparing and analyzing the learning interest, learning acceptance attitude and academic achievement between experiment group with using clothing swatch materials and control group without using the materials. The results of the study are as follows: First, the experiment group using clothing swatch materials shows higher learning interest than the control group without materials. Second, the experiment group showed higher learning acceptance attitude than the control group. Third, the experiment group achieved higher academic accomplishments than the control group.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out practical teaching material about$\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part of home economics course in highschool and prove it's effect on learning as the result of applying to teaching and learning activities. The objects of this study were 144 first grade students of Puyo girl's high school located in Puyo county of Chung-nam province. They were identified to have the same quality through such inspections as intelligence quotient and previous scholastic ability test. Experiment group is composed of 72 students of two class in first grade and those students utilized swatch. Controlled group is also made up of 72 students like experiment group and they didn't use swatch. The procedure of this study was as follows : First we collected the real clothing material which was necessary in $\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part of high school home economics and made teaching plan that could be used to make use of swatch. In this study. we first seek the averages and variations to know how much is the influence of using real things as the studying materials on the class. Then we verified the level of attention to compare and the level of student's schoolwork accomplishment. interest and attitude between experiment group that used the swatch and controlled group who didn't use those material. The result of this study are as follow : 1) After using swatch. students'attitude toward receiving information was getting better. 2) Students'interest toward$\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part was getting higher. 3) Scholastic accomplishment of experimental group became higher than that of controlled group.

A Research on the Preference to Textiles for Slacks of College Students (슬랙스용 소재에 대한 대학생의 선호도 조사연구)

  • This research was designed to investigate the preference to textiles for slacks of college students. 105 subjects majored in fashion design were surveyed. Subjects selected three favorite materials among 120 samples presented in swatch book and weighted frequency and percentage were added by order. The extent of preference was compared by season and sex. The results of this study were as follows: 1. College students preferred twill cotton Drill foremost as a textile for spring and fall season. 2. Plain linen Crash was the most preferred material for summer. 3. Cotton Corduroy was the most preferred textile for winter. 4. In thickness and weight, textiles for winter were thicker and heavier than those of other seasons. 5. In fiber content, natural fiber such as wool were preferred for all seasons. 6. In weave of textiles, twill weave fabric was preferred for spring fall and winter season, and plain weave for summer. 7. College students preferred plain texture materials foremost and navy blue and black color was preferred for textiles for slacks. 8. Girl students preferred cotton fabrics and boys preferred wool fabric for slacks. Also, girls generally preferred thinner fabrics than those of boys.

  • This research was designed to investigate the preferred textiles for the jackets of college students. 105 subjects that majored in fashion design were surveyed. The subjects selected three favorite materials, according to the seasons, among 120 samples presented in a swatch book and their frequency of choice was tallied. The extent of the subjects' preference was compared by season and gender The results of this study were as follows: 1. College students preferred dark Grayish Brown plain variation wool Crossbred foremost as a textile for the spring and fan season. 2. White plain cotton Plisse was the most preferred material for summer. 3. Olive Gray cotton Corduroy was the most preferred textile for winter. 4. For thickness and weight, the textiles chosen for winter were thicker and heavier than those chosen for other seasons. 5. For fiber content, natural fiber such as wool were preferred for all seasons. 6. For the type of fabrics weave, a plain variation weave was preferred for spring and fall, twill was preferred for winter and plain weave was preferred for summer. 7. Collage students preferred gray and brown tones for the spring, fall and winter season. For color characteristics, solid fabrics were generally preferred and check patterns were especially preferred for the winter season. 8. Girl students generally preferred lighter and thinner fabrics than those chosen by boys.

A Study on the Effective Teaching Methods of Fashion Illustration (패션일러스트레이션의 효율적인 교육방법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest effective teaching method of fashion illustration based on the results of examing the use of fashion illustration required by fashion designers and the ways of teaching used by professors teaching fashion illustration. The methods of this research were based on questionnaires. Questionnaire I was responded by 73 fashion designers working for fashion industry. Questionnaire II was answered by 52 professors teaching fashion illustration in colleges and universities. The results were as follows 1. In the examination of fashion illustration used by fashion designers in fashion industry, the flat was found to be most frequently used for market research, design sketch, presentation and specification. The illustration of wearers' form for making trend maps. So the flat was found to be the method that is most used by fashion designers. As for the coloring materials, markers were most frequently used that are of easy use, and the texture was mostly expressed by attaching fabric swatches. Two or three body poses are used for each style of clothing. 2. The effective teaching methods of fashion illustration that fashion designers and professors teaching fashion illustration consider are first, to teach the flat more precisely, second, to increase use of markers as coloring material, third, to teach various types of model poses. And fourth, the texture needs to be a little bit less expressed by focusing only on the effects because fabric swatch is used.

Research on the Characteristics of Preferred Clothing Textiles of college Students - A Comparison of Slacks and Skirt (대학생이 선호하는 의복 소재의 특성 연구 - 슬랙스와 스커트용 직물의 비교 -)

  • This research was designed to investigate and compare the characteristics of preferred clothing textiles for slacks and skirt of college students. One hundred five subjects majoring in fashion design were surveyed and the subjects selected three favorite materials among 120 samples presented in a swatch book. The subject's weighted frequencies were added tv order of preference. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In the spring and fall seasons, black twill cotton drill was preferred foremost as a textile for slacks, and medium gray basket weaved cotton pinhead with stripe pattern was preferred as a textile for skirts. 2. In summer, dark bluish gray plain linen crash was the most preferred material for slacks, and pale yellow plain linen tropical cloth was preferred for skirts. 3. In winter, olive gray cotton corduroy was the most favorite textile for slacks, and moderate brown twill wool hound check was preferred for the skirt. 4. In thickness and weight, textiles for winter were thicker and heavier than those chosen for other seasons, and textiles for skirts showed various thicknesses and weights as compared with those of slacks. 5. In fiber content, natural fibers such as cotton and wool were preferred for an seasons. 6. In the weave of textiles, twiu we,3ve was preferred for spring, fall and winter season, and plain weave was preferred for summer. 7 The most preferred colors for slacks were B and PB, and those for the skirts were YR and PB. For color characteristics, solid fabrics were generally preferred, and patterned fabrics were preferred for skirts as compared with slacks.
