  • An effective thermal conductivity measurement for suspensions of microparticles in oil mixture is conducted in order to evaluate the shear rate-dependence of the thermal conductivity of suspensions. Measurements are made for rotating Couette flows between two concentric cylinders. The rotating outer cylinder is immersed into a constant temperature water bath while the stationary inner cylinder is subject to a uniform heat fluff. Test fluids are made to be homogeneous suspensions, in which neutrally buoyant microparticles ($d=25{\sim}300{\mu}m$) are uniformly dispersed. The present measurements show strong shear-rate dependent thermal conductivities for the suspensions, which are higher than those at zero shear rate. The shear rate dependent thermal conductivity increases with the particle size and volume concentration.4 new model for shear rate-dependent thermal conductivity of microparticle suspensions is proposed; the correlation covers from zero shear rate value to asymptotic plateau value at moderately high shear rates.

  • The ageing cause in many porcelain suspension insulators which occur on transmission and distribution line with dead-end stings is mechanical stress in interface between porcelain and cement materials. It is known that the principal mechanical stress which give electrical failure is the results of the displacement is due to cement growth. We studied an analysing method to find out a deformation of brittle porcelain with a thermal expansion of cement for suspension insulator. These simulation analysis and experimental results show that cement volume growths affect severely to be mechanical failure ageing. These simulation analysis and experimental results show that axial loading affects of Porcelain insulators severely to be mechanical failure ageing.

  • 본 연구에서는 이러한 2유체방정식모델을 Stokes의 저항력 뿐만 아니라 벽면 의 영향을 함께 노고하여 벤츄리관에서의 정압강하가 공기류량과 고체유량, 그리고 입 자의 크기에 어떻게 의존하는가를 해석하였다. 본 연구의 수치해석결과를 Farbar와 Lee와 Crowe의 실험과 비교하였으며, 만족할 만한 일치를 얻었다.

  • An electromagnets and a single-sided linear induction motor(SLIM) are used for suspension and propulsion equipment respectively. The electromagnets and SLIM are installed in the same frame, called a bogie, to reduce the volume under the vehicle floor and to raise the response charateristics to follow the track. Then the 3-dimensional forces(thrust force, normal force, side force) generated by SLIM direct]y affect the suspension system as the disturbance force. 두유(豆乳)의 현탁안정성에 관한 연구 (Studies on Stability of Soymilk Suspension)

  • 두유제품을 저장하는 동안 단백질 등의 침전과 지방질의 크림층이 분리되는 현상에 미치는 두유제조 조건의 영향을 검토하기 위해서 분쇄, 균질처리 및 열처리조건이 두유의 현탁안정성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 먼저 $20^{\circ}C$의 물로 마쇄한 것을 blanching시 온도에 반비례하여 질소 용해도지수가 현저히 감소하였으나 $80^{\circ}C$의 물로 마쇄하는 경우 그 감소폭이 $20^{\circ}C$의 경우보다 적었다. 침지 대두를 분쇄하여 단백질 입자가 $53{\mu}$에서 $8{\mu}$으로 작아질수록 침전량이 감소하여 두유의 현탁안정성이 증가하였고 균질처리를 1회한 것보다는 2회 반복처리 한 것이 안정성이 증가하였으며 1회 처리시는 입자의 크기에 따라 차이가 심하였지만 2회 처리시는 그 차이가 감소되었다. 균질처리시 1단계 처리압력이 $200kg/cm^2$까지는 안정성이 증가하였고 팜유를 첨가하여 균질처리를 할 때의 온도가 $80^{\circ}C$까지 온도를 높일수록 안정성이 증가하였다. 두유제품을 살균할 때 열처리온도가 $120{\sim}125^{\circ}C$에서 30분 이상 열처리시에는 안정성이 급격히 감소되었다.

Predictors of Acute Postoperative Urinary Retention after Transvaginal Uterosacral Suspension Surgery

  • Objectives: To investigate the rate of postoperative urinary retention (POUR) and identify the risk factors for this complication in women who underwent transvaginal uterosacral suspension surgery. Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted for 75 women who underwent transvaginal uterosacral suspension surgery with vaginal hysterectomy, repair of cystocele, and levator myorrhaphy with/without transobturator anti-incontinence surgery. POUR was defined as a need for continuous intermittent catheterization on the third day subsequent to removal of the urethral indwelling catheter. Results: Acute POUR was reported in 18 women (24.0%). Thirty-six of the 75 patients (48.0%) had undergone anti-incontinence surgery. Crude analysis revealed significant association between the following variables and the risk of POUR: hypertension, the lower average flow rate in the pressure-flow study (PFS), greater post-void residual (PVR) urine volume in PFS, and PVR >30% of the total bladder capacity (TBC) in PFS. In the logistic regression analysis, PVR >30% of the TBC in PFS was identified as the only significant predictor of POUR (odds ratio, 15.4; 95% confidence interval, 2.5-90.9; P = 0.003). Conclusions: The PVR >30% of the TBC in PFS was identified as the only predictive factor of acute POUR in women who underwent transvaginal uterosacral suspension surgery.

5 MHz 신호를 이용한 부유물의 농도에 따른 후방산란강도 측정 (5-MHz Volume Backscattering Strength Measurements from Suspended Sediment Concentrations)

  • 연안 및 하구지역은 퇴적물의 침식, 부유, 이동이 활발하게 이루어지며, 이로 인해 유성머드와 같은 고농도의 부유퇴적물 환경이 조성된다. 유성머드는 주로 실트, 점토와 같이 매주 작은 입자들로 이루어져 있는 10 g/l 이상의 고농도 환경으로써, 유성머드의 분포 및 특성 파악을 위해 초음파와 같이 분해능이 우수한 높은 주파수 특성을 이용한 연구가 필요하다. 음파가 부유퇴적물에 의해 산란될 때, 부유퇴적물의 농도가 높아질수록 후방산란강도의 세기가 증가하지만, 점성 및 산란에 의한 감쇠도 함께 증가하기 때문에 농도에 따른 올바른 감쇠계수 보상이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 5 MHz 주파수 특성을 바탕으로 간이 수조에서 농도에 따른 가상의 유성머드 환경을 조성한 뒤, 후방산란강도를 측정하였다. 또한 Richards의 감쇠계수 모델을 이용하여 부유물의 특성 및 농도에 따른 감쇠계수를 계산하였고, 이를 후방산란강도를 계산하는 소나방정식에 적용하여 부유물 농도에 따른 후방산란강도를 예측하였다. 그 결과 부유물에 의한 감쇠를 보상하지 않았을 경우 부유물 농도 증가에 따라 후방산란강도 값이 함께 증가하는 경향을 보이다가 일정 농도(20 g/l) 이후부터는 부유물의 농도가 증가하여도 후방산란강도가 더 이상 증가하지 않았다. 반면, 농도에 따른 감쇠계수를 보상해 주었을 경우는 부유물 농도 증가에 따라 후방산란강도가 연속적으로 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 고농도의 부유퇴적물 환경에서 음파에 의한 산란강도를 정확히 예측하기 위해서는 부유물 농도에 따른 감쇠효과 고려가 필요함을 보여준다.

침전법으로 제조된 Mg(OH)2의 잔류 Na염이 MgO 입자 형성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Na Salt on the Formation of MgO Obtained from Mg(OH)2 by Precipitation Method)

  • The particle size of MgO was examined as a function of the Na content in $Mg(OH)_2$ powders and the calcination temperature. $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension was obtained by dropwise precipitation of $Mg(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ and NaOH solutions. The suspension was diluted by varying the dilution volume ratio of distilled water to $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension to change the Na salt concentration in the suspension. $Mg(OH)_2$ slurry was filtered and dried at $60^{\circ}C$ under vacuum, and then its $Mg(OH)_2$ powder was calcined to produce MgO with different amount of Na content at $500\sim900^{\circ}C$ under air. Investigation of the physical and chemical properties of the various MgO powders with dilution ratio and calcination temperature variation was done by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, BET specific surface area and thermal gravimetric analysis. It was observed that MgO particle size could depend on the condition of calcination temperature and dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. The particle size of the MgO depends on the Na content remaining in the $Mg(OH)_2$ powder, which powder was prepared by changing the dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. This change increased as the calcination temperature increased and decreased as the dilution ratio increased. The growth of MgO particle size according to the increase of temperature was more effective when there was a relatively high content of Na. The increase of Na content lowered the temperature at which decomposition of $Mg(OH)_2$ to MgO took place, thereby promoting the crystal growth of MgO.

알로에 배라 점질물의 무기물 응집활성 (Flocculating Activity of the Mucilage Extracted from Aloe vera Linne)

  • For the purpose of screening the functionality in aloe, the mucilage from Aloe vera Linne was prepared by extraction of mucilaginous parenchyma with ethanol followed homogenation, filtration and centrifigation. Flocculability of this mucilage from Aloe vera L. was investigated and the identification fro flocculating active materials were carried out. The mucilage exhibited an excellent flocculability for 1% bentonite and 5,000 ppm kaolin suspensions. The good correlations between mucilage volume(concentration) and flocculability for 1% bentonite suspension were obtained. The flocculated volume or flocculation rate was affected depending upon the degrees of processing such as a heat treatment and purification. A major component showing the flocculaing activity was considered as a highly polymerized polysaccharide having flocculating activity was about 1,000,000 daltons.

Yielding behaviour of organically treated anatase $TiO_2$ suspension

  • The rheological behaviour of anatase $TiO_2$ with organic coating has been investigated extensively in this study. The yield stress was measured over a wide range of solids concentration and pH using stress-controlled and speed-controlled rheometers. The organic treatment leads to a shift of the isoelectric point (IEP) from around pH 5.5 to pH 2.4. A maximum yield stress occurs in the vicinity of the isoelectric point determined by electrokinetic measurements. The transition of rheological behaviour between elastic solid and viscous liquid is represented by a stress plateau in a plot of stress against strain. It is hypothesised that the slope of the stress plateau reflects the uniformity of the structure, and hence the distribution of bond strength. Altering the concentration and the surface chemistry can vary the bond strength and its distribution. therefore, resulting in different type of failure: "ductile-type" or "brittle-type". pH and volume fraction dependence of yield stress could be described quantitatively using existing models with reasonable agreement.easonable agreement.
