In this paper, we proposes a multi-ring based mobile sink location scheme for solar-powered wireless sensor network (WSN). The proposed scheme maintains the multi-rings in which nodes keep the current location of sink node. With the help of nodes in multi-rings, each node can locate the sink node efficiently with low-overhead. Moreover, because our scheme utilizes only surplus energy of a node, it can maintain multiple rings without degrading any performance of each node. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme shows much better latency and scalability with lower energy-consumption than the existing single-ring based scheme.

The energy economic analysis of the standard rural house model with PV system was performed based on annual energy demand calculation using the EnergyPlus to contribute in reducing building energy which occupies 25% of national energy consumption and in developing a low-energy & eco-friendly house model. Two types of PV system installation was considered to cover electricity demand for cooling, electric, and heating devices. For the selected house model, heating energy demand is 7 times higher than cooling energy demand. For the Case1, it is favorable to use electricity from PV system for cooling and electric devices and to sell surplus electricity. For the Case2, it is favorable to use electricity from PV system for cooling, electricity and heating devices and to sell surplus electricity. Considering the installation cost of PV system and heat pump air conditioning system, the break-even point of Case1 and Case2 are about 13 and 11 years respectively. Although the installation cost of Case2 is more expensive, Case2 provides three times more profit than Case1 after the break-even point. Because the expected average life time of the selected PV system is 25 years, Case2 is more favorable option for the given standard rural house model.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive data aggregation and compression scheme for wireless sensor networks with energy-harvesting nodes, which increases the amount of data arrived at the sink node by efficient use of the harvested energy. In energy-harvesting wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes can have more than necessary energy because they harvest energy from environments continuously. In the proposed scheme, when a node judges that there is surplus energy by estimating its residual energy, the node compresses and transmits the aggregated data so far. Conversely, if the residual energy is estimated to be depleted, the node turns off its transceiver and collects only its own sensory data to reduce its energy consumption. As a result, this scheme increases the amount of data collected at the sink node by preventing the blackout of relay nodes and facilitating data transmission. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme suppresses the occurrence of blackout nodes and collect the largest amount of data at the sink node compared to previous schemes.

Energy-harvesting nodes in wireless sensor networks(WSNs) can be exhausted due to a heavy workload even though they can harvest energy from their environment. On contrast, they can sometimes fully charged, thus waste the harvested energy due to the limited battery-capacity. In order to utilize the harvested energy efficiently, we introduce a selective data compression and transmission range control scheme for energy-harvesting nodes. In this scheme, if the residual energy of a node is expected to run over the battery capacity, the node spends the surplus energy to exploit the data compression or the transmission range expansion; these operations can reduce the burden of intermediate nodes at the expanse of its own energy. Otherwise, the node performs only basic operations such as sensing or transmitting so as to avoid its blackout time. Simulation result verifies that the proposed scheme gathers more data with fewer number of blackout nodes than other schemes by consuming energy efficiently.
Currently, the government is encouraging the introduction of energy storage system to reduce carbon emissions and peak power demand. The government is planning the cumulative capacity of ESS of 2GW in 2020. By utilizing charge and discharge of the ESS, it is possible to sell the surplus power to utility and electricity market. This paper suggests the model that economic feasibility of energy storage system for planning the construction of power generation facilities in 2035. Our results of simulation indicate the energy storage plan of utility for constructing renewable energy facilities is need to incentives from the government to encourage power utilities and expansion of ESS.
Evaluation of energy in the diet is very important in animal nutrition because food intake is strongly influenced by the energy content of the diet. This means that the intake of other nutrients, such as amino acids, is affected by their ratio to energy content. Poultry can control their energy intake over a range of energy: protein ratios. Energy: protein ratio also affects the growth and body composition. Therefore we need to know what extent the relationship between energy and dietary protein influences the bird's performance. To predict the energy value of the diet or its chemical constituents, researchers have been working on modelling using the equations of the major biochemical pathways in terms of ATP generation and utilization. The activity of feeding and the metabolism caused by digestion and assimilation of food increase the animal's heat production and it can be measured by calorimetry technique. Theoretically, surplus amino acids which are not needed for protein synthesis stimulate an additional increase in metabolic rate and lead to increased energetic costs of catabolism and excretion. However, it has sometimes been shown that there was no measurable diet-induced thermoregulatory effect when an imbalanced amino acid mixture was fed. All these aspects are discussed in this review.

In this study, we introduce a model that satisfies energy efficiency and economical efficiency by introducing and demonstrating cogeneration generators in industrial complexes using various actual data collected at the site. The proposed model is composed of three scenarios, ie, full - time operation, scenario operated according to demand, and a fusion type. In this study, the power generation profit and surplus thermal energy are measured according to the operation of the generator, and the thermal energy is traded according to the demand of the customer to calculate the profit and loss including the heat and evaluate the economic efficiency. As a result of the study, it is relatively profitable to reduce the generation of the generator under the condition that the electricity rate is low and the gas rate is high, while the basic charge is not increased. On the contrary, if the electricity rate is high and the gas rate is low, The more you start up, the more profit you can see. These results show that even a cogeneration power plant with a low economic efficiency due to a low "spark spread" has sufficient economic value if it can sell more than a certain amount of heat energy from a nearby customer and adjust the applied power through peak management.

A greenhouse heating system to improve heat pump performance using inside and outside air of greenhouse as a heat source selectively and cut $CO_2$ enrichment costs by delay of greenhouse ventilation was developed. In this system, thermal storage modes divided into inside circulation mode using surplus solar energy and outside circulation mode using outside air heat. The thermal storage modes were designed to be switched mutually according to inside greenhouse temperature and six temperature values were input to control the heat pump operating, thermal storage mode switching and greenhouse heating automatically. Operating characteristics of this system were tested in a plastic greenhouse of non-ventilation condition. The results of test showed that the inside circulation mode began at about 11:00 and lasted for about 210 minutes and inside greenhouse temperature was maintained between $20{\sim}28^{\circ}C$ in spite of non-ventilation. System heating COP of the inside circulation mode in the daytime was 3.35, which was 36% and 25% higher than that of the outside circulation modes in the nighttime and daytime respectively.
The most concerning issue in these days is the energy crisis by increasing threat of global warming and depletion of natural resources. In the situations, the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is drawing attention from many countries for the next generation's car which has higher fuel efficiency and lower environmental impact. This paper presents simulation results about the limit capacity of central power-grid which doesn't have enough surplus electric power for charging PHEVs. Therefore, this paper also presents a smart charging system that can charge the PHEVs with a function of distributing demands of charging. The smart charging system is an agent facility between the government and consumer, which can recommend the best time to charge the battery of PHEVs by the lowest energy cost. This function of choosing time-slots is the technical system for the government which wants to control the consumption rate of electric power for PHEVs. Finally, this paper presents the economic feasibility of PHEVs from the two kinds of price system, midnight electric price and home electric price.
The aim of this paper was to use the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS), that reports diet energy and protein value and animal requirements, as net energy for lactation ($NE_1$) and metabolizable protein (MP) respectively, to evaluate some rations for lactating Italian Mediterranean buffaloes. The investigation was carried out on six farms in the province of Caserta (southern Italy), where the milk production was controlled four times monthly on 10 animals (changing every time) chosen at different lactation days (5 categories): <2 months (A), 2-4 months (B), 4-6 months (C), 6-8 months (D), >8 months (E). Milk fat and protein were determined. Diet $NE_1$ and MP were estimated with the CPM-Dairy program (1998) using diet component chemical characteristics; then energy and protein intakes were estimated. $NE_1$ and MP requirements were estimated with two methods: 1) using CPM-Dairy that considers produced milk, fat and protein content, lactation phase and body condition score as main factors; 2) by applying the theory that to produce 1 kg of energy corrected milk, the buffalo needs 3.56 MJ of $NE_1$ and the efficiency to convert the absorbed aminoacids into milk protein is lower than cow (CNCPS). As regards energy, with method 1 the requirements were satisfactory starting from category A (4 out of 6 farms) and category B (5/6 farms); however, a surplus resulted for category E (5/6 farms). With method 2 a deficit in category A (5/6 farms) and B (3/6 farms) was observed, while the energy requirements were satisfied for all categories except E, where on only one buffalo farm had a surplus of energy intake. As regards protein, with method 1 the requirements were substantially satisfied for all the categories except E (3/6 farms); with method 2 the MP trend was much less favourable than with method 1. Indeed, a protein deficit was observed for all animals in categories A and B (5/6 farms). Moreover, on one farm the protein intake never satisfied animal requirements. In our experimental conditions, the use of the CNCPS to characterise diets for lactating buffalo and to calculate their requirements led to satisfactory results. By contrast, we cannot say the same for method 2, which applies a lower use efficiency of NE and MP for lactation in buffalo compared to cow.
