The physical properties of artificial aggregates made from clay and inorganic wastes with poor plasticity depends largely on forming method. The artificial aggregates composing of coal fly ash, stone sludge and clay were fabricated using 4 different forming methods and those physical properties were comparatively analyzed. The surface of aggregates made through the extrusion forming process was dense and smooth but was rough for the aggregates obtained by crushing a tile-shaped green body. The aggregates made by pelletizing process had a weak green strength and bumpy surface. The shell generated at surface during a high temperature sintering process induced the most aggregates to be bloated due to a dense shell. But the aggregates made through pelletizing process with dense surface layer showed no significant change in bulk density with sintering temperatures. The water absorption of aggregates decreased with sintering temperature, and that of pelletized specimen was standing $1.8{\sim}2.2$ times higher than that of made by other forming methods. It is concluded that the aggregates having various properties could be fabricated from one batch by using different forming methods.
Magnesium hydroxide-melamine core-shell particles were prepared through the coating of melamine monomer on the surface of magnesium hydroxide in the presence of phosphoric acid. The melamine monomer was dissolved in hot water but recrystallized on the surface of magnesium hydroxide by quenching to room temperature in the presence of phosphoric acid. The core-shell particle was applied to low-density polyethylene/ ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) resin by melt-compounding at $180^{\circ}C$ as flame retardant. The effect of magnesium hydroxide and melamine content has been studied on the flame retardancy of the core-shell particles in LDPE/EVA resin according to the preparation process and purity of magnesium hydroxide. Magnesium hydroxide prepared with sodium hydroxide rather than with ammonia solution revealed higher flame retardancy in core-shell particles with LDPE/EVA resin. At 50 wt% loading of flame retardant, core-shell particles revealed higher flame retardancy compared to that of the exclusive magnesium hydroxide in LDPE/EVA composite, and it was possible to satisfy the V0 grade in the UL-94 vertical test. The synergistic flame retardant effect of magnesium hydroxide and melamine core-shell particles was explained as being due to the endothermic decomposition of magnesium hydroxide and melamine, which was followed by the evolution of water from the magnesium hydroxide and porous char formation due to reactive nitrogen compounds, and carbon dioxide generated from melamine.

$CaCO_{3}$ absorbed sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) surfactant was prepared, Core-shell polymers of inorganic/organic pair, which have both core and shell component, were synthesized by sequential emulsion polymerization using styrene(St) as a shell monomer and potasium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator, We found that when $CaCO_{3}$; core prepared by adding 2,0 wt% SLS, $CaCO_{3}$ core/PSt shell polymerization was carried out on the surface of $CaCO_{3}$ particle without forming the new PSt particle during St shell polymerization in the inorganic/organic core-shell polymer preparation, The structure of core-shell polymer were investigated by measuring the degree of decomposition of $CaCO_{3}$ using HCl solution, thermal decomposition of polymer composite using thermogravimetric analyzer and morphology by scanning electron microscope.
The artificial aggregates with dense surface layer (shell) was fabricated and the dependence of water emission rate upon the shell structures was studied. The EAF dust containing many flux components and waste white clay with ignition loss of above 48% were used as for liquid phase and gas forming agents during a sintering process respectively. In addition, the shell structure was modified with various processes and the modification effect on water emission rate was analyzed. The pores under $10{\mu}m$ were found in the sintered artificial light aggregates and disappeared by incorporating to a bigger pore during re-sintering. The water emission rate in an initial step depended on a void content of aggregates filled in a bottle rather than a shell structure. But, after 7 days where the water emission of the aggregate with a shell is above 40%, the shell of aggregates suppressed the water emission. The core of aggregates was exposed and most shell was lost when crushed to smaller size so, the ability for suppressing water emission of the crushed aggregates decreased. The activation energy for the water emission was $3.46{\pm}0.25{\times}10^{-1}$J/mol for the most specimens showing that the activation energy is irrelevant to the pore size distribution and shell structure.
An analytical method for nautral frequencies of a partially liquid- filled circular cylindrical shell with various boundary conditions is developed by means of the Stokes's transformation and Fourier series expansion on the basis of Sanders' shell equation. The liquid-shell coupled system is divided into two regions for convenient formulation. One is the empty shell region in which the Sanders' shell equations are formulated without the lipuid effect, the other is wetted shell region in which the shell equations are formulated with consideration of the liquid dynamic effect. The shell equations for each regions are combined by the geometry and the force continuities at the junction of the two regions. For the vibration relevant to the liquid motion, the velocity potential of liquid is assumed as a sum of linear combination of suitable harmonic functions in axial direction. The unknown parameters are selected to satisfy the boundary condition along the wetted shell surface. The natural frequencies of the liquid filled cylindraical shells with the clamped- free and the clamped-clamped boundary conditions examined in the previous works, are obtained by this analytical method. The results are compared with the previous works, and excllent agreement is found for the natural frequencies of the shells.

$SiO_2/TiO_2$ core-shell particles with controlled shell thickness were prepared using large silica particles. The thickness of titania coating layer was varied from 8 nm to 38 nm depending on the number of coating steps from 1 to 3 times. After titania coating, the core-shell particles showed textured surface due to the titania coating layer, resulting in 3~25 times increase of specific surface areas. The properties of titania coated silica particles were characterized by FE-SEM, Zeta potential meter, BET, and XRD.
The general approach using sine series expansions was represented to evaluate the radiation loading from a vibrating surface on a simply supported cylinder. In this paper, the fluid-loading coefficients (radiation impedance) for a submerged finite cylindrical shell with an arbitrary end condition are defined and evaluated. The vibrations of cylindrical shell are expressed by using cosine series expansions to analyze the radiation impedance for a finite cylindrical shell. It is possible to represent the displacements at both ends of cylindrical shell in comparison with sine series. The direct and cross modal components of fluid-loading coefficients are shown and the validity of cosine series expansions are verified from the results of numerical computations. This approach and results are directly applicable in the analysis of sound radiation from subemerged finite cylindrical shell with arbitrary end conditions.

This paper has dealt with the probability of oyster shell desiccant cooling system driven by renewable energy of photo-volatic effect with fundamental experiment. The test materials for desiccant are activated charcoal, silica-gel, hi-dry, and oyster shell. The experiments were mainly performed with focusing on the observation of surface features, adsorption amounts of the adsorbent species, and the effect of temperature. Oyster shell has sufficient probability for using as desiccant in a air-conditioning system. Moreover, the heat releasing device would be attached in the system, the system based with oyster shell can be operated with high efficiency.

In the present study, a first order shear deformable Loop-subdivision triangular element which can handle transverse shear deformation of moderately thick shell and composite laminated or sandwich shells are developed. The developed element is more general than the previous one based on classical shell theory, since it includes the effect of transverse shell deformation and has standard five degrees of freedom per node. The quartic box spline function is employed as the interpolation basis function. Numerical examples for the benchmark static shell problems are analyzed to assess the performance of the developed subdivision shell element and locking trouble.

The continuous circular cylindrical shells are widely used for the high performance structures of aircraft, spacecraft, missile, nuclear fuel rod shell and so on. In this paper, a method for the vibrational analysis of the continuous circular cylindrical shells with the clamped-clamped supports at two end edges is developed by using the modal expansion method. Forces and/or moments acting on the shell surface are expressed in terms of the Dirac Delta Function. Frequency equation of the continuous shell is also derided by the application of the equilibrium of forces and the continuity of displacements at the boundary. Natural frequencies of the continuous shell are calculated numerically with mathematica 3.0 and they are compared with FEM results from the ANSYS 5.3 to improve the reliability of analytic solutions. Mode shares obtained by the FEM are Presented in this paper.
