To machine the micro hole, laser machining system is widely used, however, the system cannot fabricate the micro hole with high aspect ratio and good surface finish. To break the obstacles, the high frequency vibration mechanism with PZT (Piezoelectric Transducers) is proposed in this paper. The mechanism will vibrate the laser beam in vertical direction so that the aspect ratio and surface finish may be higher than the conventional. The mechanism vibrates the eyepiece of laser optics. In addition to the benefits, the mechanism enables us to have high precision and flexibility. It decreases burr and debris during machining. And it is able to machine various materials of workpiece. This research include high frequency and large travel range of the proposed mechanism. The PZT motion of mechanism and analysis on the sensitivity of design parameters are extracted from a finite element method (FEM) simulation. In the analysis, the target vibration mode without parasitic motion is designated to have the target frequency and high amplitude.
This study was conducted to compare the cleansing effect of various irrigants and the function of the quantity of irrigants in apical region. One hundred sixty single rooted teeth were divided into four groups and fourty teeth in each group were individually enlarged and irrigated with each of four irrigants as they would be during clinical condition. The four tested irrigants were Normal saline solution, 3.5% NaOCl, 15% EDTA, and 50% Citric acid. In each group, twenty teeth were flushed with 2cc of each irrigant and another twenty teeth with 5cc of same irrigant after use of each instrument. After final flush and dry, the roots were split longitudinally and the degree of cleansing at apical portion were evaluated under Stereoscope by three observers. The typical specimens of each group were also examined under Scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows. 1. There were no significant difference of cleansing effect among the tested irrigants. 2. 5cc flushed groups have more samples that have high degree of cleansing than 2cc flushed groups. 3. The canals irrigated with 2cc showed the presence of many dentin chips, tissue debris and smeared layer, whereas the 5cc groups revealed relatively clean canal surface and less smeared layer under Scanning electron microscope. 4. The teeth flushed with 5cc of EDTA and with 5cc of Citric acid showed the most clean canal surface at Scanning fictures.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the smear layer removing efficiency of two root canal preparation techniques. Twelve single-rooted teeth were used in two groups of six each. Group 1 was biomechanically prepared by hand using a K-file with a high volume of normal saline irrigation. Group 2 was. prepared by using ultrasonically activated K-file with a constant high volume of normal saline irrigation. After the experimental procedures, each root was split saggitally. The removing efficiency of the preparation methods were assessed in terms of surface condition of the canal walls at three levels, those coronal, middle, and apical thirds. On the basis of remaining debris, presence of smear layer, and patency of dentinal tubules, each canal was evaluated according to a scale form 0 to 2. A statistical analysis was used to indicated any significant differences in surface condition between the two methods. There was no statistical significance between hand instrumentation and ultrasonic instrumentation at the cervical third but removing efficiency of ultrasonic instrumentation was superior. No statistically significant differences were obhserved for middle or apical third.

Lubricant oil is needed in air conditioning and refrigeration system because the compressor requires oil to prevent surface to surface contact between its moving parts, to remove heat, to provide sealing, to keep out contaminants, to prevent corrosion, and to dispose of debris created by wear. Thus, the oil separation in an oil separator is one of the most important characteristics for proper compressor operation. In this study, a gravity type of oil separator is used. Oil separation characteristics have been investigated for $CO_2$/PAG mixture in the range of oil concentration 0 to 5 weight-percent and the mixture temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$ at 50 bar and $70^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ at 80 bar. The results obtained indicate that the oil separation is increased with an increase in the oil concentration. It is also found that the oil separation in liquid state is increased with an increase in the mixture temperature while the oil separation in gas state is decreased.

Frost shattering has traditionally been considered as one of the most effective process in rock weathering. Each slab specimens of five or six rhyolite, basalt and tuff was prepared and put in freeze-thaw cycles and repeated 300 times in the temperature of $-25^{\circ}C$ to $+30^{\circ}C$ and their weathering patterns and products were analyzed by surface observation, particle size, XRD and thin section. As the result, some changes were observed in weathering patterns and weathering products. Rock shattering was more active in waterlogging rather than atmospheric conditions, but there are many differences depending on the type of rock. Rhyolite is hardly weathered by 300 times freeze-thaw cycles and generates the least amount of weathering products. Weathering of Basalt is limited to the surface layer where water can be absorbed, and produces a few amount of platy-shape debris. Tuff are separated by blocky structure which the particles are aggregated along their edges rather than enlarged existing cracks/joins or generated new joints.
High temperature wear of STD 61 tool steels sliding against the Al-9%Si coated steels used for hot press forming has been studied in comparison with that of the tool steels sliding against the uncoated steels. Wear tests have been performed using a pin-on-disc configuration under an applied normal load of 50N for 20 min with heating the coated and uncoated steels up to 800$^{\circ}C$. It was found on the worn surface of the STD 61 tool steels sliding against the Al-9%Si coated steels that the formation of the glazed layers containing Al transferred from the coated tribopair may contribute to a reduction of the coefficient of friction, and detachment in part occur due to delamination wear, resulting in higher specific wear rate. On the other hand the Fe-oxide wear debris entrapped on the softer surface of the uncoated steels can act as a tribosurface, leading to decreased adhesive wear of the STD 61 tool steels, resulting in a lower specific wear rate.
The lastest concepts in bonding are "total etch", in which both enamel and dentin are etched with an acid to remove the smear layers, and "wet dentin" in which the dentin is not blown dry but left moist before application of the bonding primer. Ideally, the application of a bonding agent to tooth structure should be insensitive to minor contamination from oral fluids. Clinically contaminations such as saliva, gingival fluid, blood and handpiece lubricant are often encountered by dentists during preparation of a restoration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of contamination by hem-ostatic agents on shear bond strength of compomer restorations. One hundred and ten extracted human maxillary and mandibular molar teeth were collected. The teeth were cleaned from soft tissue remnant and debris and stored in physiologic solution until they were used. Small flat area on dentin of the buccal surface were wet ground serially with 400, 800 and 1200 abrasive paper on automatic polishing machine. The teeth were randomly divided into 11 groups. Each group was conditioned as follows: Group 1 : Dentin surface was not etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group2 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Astringedent (Ultradent product Inc., Utah, U.S.A.). Group3 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Bosmin (Jeil Phann, Korea.). Group4 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Epri-dent (Epr Industries, NJ, U.S.A.). Group5: Dentin surface was etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group 6 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Astringedent. Group7 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Bosmin. Group8 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Epri-dent. Group9 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Astringedent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. Group10 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Bosmin. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water aud dried by compresfed air. Group 11 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Epri-dent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compresfed air. After surface conditioning, F2000 was applicated on the conditoned dentin surface. The teeth were thermocycled in distilled water at $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ for 1000 cycles. The samples were placed on the binder with the bonded compomer-dentin interface parallel to the lmife-edge shearing rod of the Universal testing machine(Zwick 020, Germany) running at a cross head speed of 1.0mmimin. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between groups 1 and group 3 and 4, but group 2 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 1. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 7 and 8, but group 6 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 5. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 9, 10 and 11.

The fretting wear behaviour of Zircaloy-4 tube used as the fuel rod cladding in PWR nuclear power plants has been investigated at the different test environment, in light water and in air as a function of slip amplitude, normal load, test duration and frequency. Zircaloy-4 tubes were used for both of oscillating and stationary specimens. A fretting wear tester was designed to be suitable for this fretting test. The wear volume and specific wear rate of Zircaloy-4 tube in water were greater than those in air under various slip amplitude. It was found that delaminate debris and surface cracks were observed at low slip amplitude and high load in water Experimental results showed that the light water accelerated the wear of Zircaloy-4 tube at low slip amplitude in fretting.
The ablative decomposition mechanism of PMMA(polymethyl methacrylate) and PET(polyethylene terephthalate) with KrF excimer laser(λ : 248nm, pulse duration: 5㎱) is investigated. The UV/Vis spectrometer analysis showed that PMMA is a weak absorber and PET is a strong absorber at the wavelength of 248nm. The results(surface debris, melt, etch depth, etching shape) from drilling and direct writing experiments imply that ablation mechanism of PMMA is dominated by photothermal process, while that of PET is dominated by photochemical process.
For over a decade, research and development on submerged hardware in continuous galvanizing pots has been carried out at Teck's Product Technology Centre. The outcome of numerous laboratory tests and field trials has demonstrated that dissimilar materials with comparable surface hardness are most suitable for the manufacture of roll bearings. Wear debris can be easily retained in bearings made of the same material, thereby negatively affecting bearing performance and service life. Bearings made of the same materials are also vulnerable to catastrophic failures. The dissolution of iron from the coated strip creates an iron-rich zone associated with a high concentration gradient in the vicinity of the sink roll. Consequently, the sink roll becomes a preferential site for dross pick-up. In operations involving extremely high temperatures, such as in Galvalume production, the material selection for pot hardware is immaterial to the final corrosion product of the hardware and the pick-up on the hardware.
