고온초전도체의 최근의 개발동향 (The recent trend of high-Tc superconductor)

  • 미국의 ASC(American Superconductor Corp.)에서는 산화물계의 고온초전도선재를 대량생산하기 위한 대규모 투자를 계획하고 있으며 지금은 금속계 초전도선재처럼 장척의 고온초전도선재도 구매할 수 있는 시대로 접어들고 있다. 고온초전도체 벌크 및 박막의 경우도 새로운 프로세스들이 계속 시도되고 최적화 연구가 성과를 거두면서 고성능, 고품질의 재료들이 제조되고 있고 이것들을 이용한 상용화 연구개발이 미국, 일본을 중심으로 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 최근 5년간의 고온초전도 분야에 대한 미국 연방정부의 연구비 투자 상황을 살펴보면 계속 증가추세에 있으며 벤처 비지니스의 민간기업들이 고온초전도체를 상용화하기 위한 많은 투자와 노력을 하고 있다. 고온초전도체는 그 사용 용도에 따라 벌크, 박막, 선재 등 다양한 형태로 만들어지고 있다. 본 고에서는 고온초전도체의 여러 연구분야 중 이론, 물성보다는 주로 응용기술적인 차원에서 재료 형태별로 최근의 연구개발 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.

Tunneling Spectra in Organic Cu-Pc/$Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta}$ Tunnel Junctions

  • We report the current transport properties of a normal metal/organic conductor/ superconductor tunnel junction as a novel high- $T_{c}$ superconducting three terminal device. The organic copper (II) phthalocyanine (Cu-Pc) layer was used far a polaronic quasiparticle (QP) injector. The injection of polaronic QP from the Cu-Pc interlayer into a superconductor $Bi_2$$Sr_2$$CaCu_2$ $O_{8+}$ $\delta$/(BSCCO) thin film generated a substantially larger nonequilibrium effect as compared to the normal QP injection current. The tunneling spectroscopy of an Au/cu-PC/BSCCO junction exhibited a zero bias conductance peak which may be due to Andreev reflection at a Cu-Pc/d-wave superconductor junction.n..

  • Superparamagnetic regions and magnetic anisotropic properties in randomly orientated Co nano dots(NDs) were investigated as a function of dot diameter, spacing, and density. The Co NDs were fabricated by intentionally exposing a laser source on ultra thin film. Various dot sizes are ultimately realized by changing laser power, scan condition, and intial film thickness. Magnetic hysteresis loops, angle-dependent magnetization, and temperature dependence magnetization of the Co NDs were measured with a superconducting quantum interference device. The analysis of magnetization and hysteresis loops was effectively used to determine superparamagnetic regions of the Co NDs. Up to now, the experimentally observed results repeal that room temperature superparamagnetic limit of our Co NDs was about 30 nm in diameter, with the confirmation of high resolution transmission electron microscope.

  • [ $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ ] films have been prepared on $LaAlO_3$ (100) single-crystal substrates by a metalorganic deposition using dichloroacetate precursors (DCA-MOD). Calcination conditions were varied in order to optimize the microstructure and the superconducting properties of YBCO film. Coated films were calcined at various temperatures ranging from $400{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ in flowing humid oxygen atmosphere. Ramping rate to calcination tempertures was $2.22^{\circ}C/min$. Conversion heat treatment was performed at $800^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in flowing Ar gas containing 1000 ppm oxygen with a humidity of 9.45%. Observations of surface and cross sectional SEM microstructure showed that the particle size in the calcined film increased in the range of 100-200 nm with heating rate and the calcination temperature. SEM EDS analysis showed that 13 a/o of chlorine was contained in the calcined film. It was also observed that the porosity increased with the heating rate and temperature. Porous microstructure was developed when YBCO films were prepared using porous calcined film. Dense microstructure and high $J_c$ over $1\;MA/cm^2$ was obtained when calcination was carried out at the temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ with a heating rate of $2.22^{\circ}C/min$.

  • [ $BaZrO_3$ ], nanopowder was added to YBCO powder to make ($BazrO_3)_x(YBCO)_{(100-x)mol.-%}$ ($BZO_x$-YBCO) ($0{\leq}x{\leq}10$) composite targets fur pulsed laser deposition of superconducting layer in order to investigate the effect of the addition of BZO nanopowder in the YBCO target on the flux pinning properties of $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films. All the $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films were grown on single crystal STO substrate under similar conditions in the PLD chamber. The effect of YBCO targets doped with BZO on the flux pinning properties of $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films has been investigated comparatively. The isothermal magnetizations M(H) of the films were measured at temperatures between 5 and 80 K in fields up to 5 T, employing a PPMS. The optimal amount of BZO nanopowders in $BZO_x$-YBCO thin films to obtain the strongest flux pinning effects at high magnetic fields is about 6 mol.-%.

DCA-MOD 법으로 YBCO 박막 제조시 하소열처리의 승온속도 효과 (Effect of heating rate on calcination heat treatment of YBCO thin films by DCA-MOD method)

  • High $J_c\;YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ superconducting films have been fabricated $LaAlO_3(100)$ substrate by MOD method using dichloroacetic acid(DCA) as chelating solvent for preparing precursor solution. Heating rate was varied in order to optimize the calcination heat treatment condition in DCA-MOD method. Coated films were calcined at lower temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$ in flowing humid oxygen atmosphere. The heating rate was calcined from $13.3^{\circ}C/min\;to\;0.28^{\circ}C/min$. Conversion heat treatment was performed $800^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in flowing Ar gas containing 1000 ppm oxygen with a humidity of 9.45%. Surface and cross sectional SEM microstructures showed that particle sizes were increased with heating rate at a calcination step. The amount of pores was increased with heating rate in the calcined films. Dense microstructure and sharp texture were developed in an YBCO films after conversion heat treatment. A high critical current density (Jc) of $1.26MA/cm^2$ (@77 K and self-field) was obtained for the YBCO film which was prepared with a heating rate of $0.28^{\circ}C/min$.

  • (001) $\textrm{SrTiO}_3$(STO) 기판위에 고온초전도 $\textrm{YBa}_{2}\textrm{Cu}_{3}\textrm{O}_{7-x}$(YBCO)박막을 이용한 계단형 모서리 임계접합을 제조하였다. STO (100) 단결정 기판위에 계단형 모서리(step-edge)를 제작하기 위한 이온밀링 마스크로 plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition방법으로 증착된 diamond-like carbon (DLC) 박막을 사용하였고, oxygen reactive ion etch 방법으로 건식식각하였다. 이렇게 제작된 계단형 모서리 기판위에 c-축 수직한 YBCO 박막과 STO박막을 pulsed laser deposition방법으로 에피텍셜하게 증착하였다. 계단의 상층과 하층에서 모두 임계가 형성되었으며 이 접합의 임계온도는 77 K 이상이었고 16K에서 $\textrm{I}_{c}\textrm{R}_{n}$products가 7.5mV, 77 K에서 0.3mV의 값을 나타내었다. 이들 전류-전압 특성은 two noisy resistively shunted Josephson junction 모델을 잘 만족하였다.

  • C-축으로 배향된 고품질 $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ 박막을 펄스레이저 증착법으로 $SrTiO_{3}$(100) 기판위에 제작하였다. STO 기판을 고온 산소열처리로 원시세포 높이의 테라스가 발달한 atomic-flat한 표면상태로 가공하였으며, 이 기판위에 최적의 조건에서 증착된 $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ 박막은 원시세포단위로 층상으로 적층 성장됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 박막은 임계온도${\ge}90$ K, 전이폭${\le}0.6$ K, 상온비저항${\sim}300{\mu}{\Omega}cm$, 잔류저항${\sim}0$ 및 임계전류밀도${\sim}4.6{\times}10^{6}A/cm^{2} $의 초전도 특성을 나타내었다.

$MgB_2$ 초전도 박막의 홀 전도도의 온도 의존성 (Temperature dependence of the Hall conductivity in $MgB_2$ superconducting thin films)

  • We have measured the Hall conductivity (${\sigma}_{xy}$) of c-axis-oriented $MgB_2$ thin films as functions of temperatures and magnetic fields. We found that the Hall conductivity (${\sigma}_{xy}$) is expressed by the sum of two terms, ${\sigma}_{xy}=C_l/H+C_3H$, where the coefficient $C_1\;and\;C_3$ are independent of the magnetic fields and have positive values. The coefficient $C_1$ is strongly dependent on the temperature, while the $C_3$ is weakly dependent on the temperature. We have obtained that the $C_1$ is proportional to $(1- T/T_c)^n$ with n = 4.2, which is consistent with the data observed in $La_{2-x}Sr_xCuO_4$ superconductors with low anisotropy ratio.

  • A new type low-pass filter design method based on a coupled line and transmission line theory is proposed to suppress harmonics by attenuation poles in the stop band The design formula are derived using the equivalent circuit of a coupled transmission line. The new low-pass filter structure is shown to have attractive properties such as compact size, wide stop band range and low insertion loss. The seventh-order low-pass filter designed by present method Ins a cutoff frequency of 0.9 GHz with a 0.01 dB ripple level. The coupled line type low-pass filter with stripline configuration was fabricated by using a high-temperature superconducting (HTS ; $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$) thin film on MgO(100) substrate. Since the HTS coupled line type low-pass filter was proposed with five attenuation poles in stop band such as 1.8, 2.5, 4, 5.5, 62 GHz. The fabricated low-pass filter has improved the attenuation characteristics up to seven times of the cutoff frequency Bemuse of good rejection of the spurious signals and harmonics, our low-pass filter is applicable to mobile base station systems such as cellular, personal communication systems and international mobile telecommunication(IMT)-2000 systems.
