Preparation of Electrophoretic deposited YBCO superconducting film with alcohol-based suspension (알코올계 이용한 YBCO 초전도 전기영동전착막의 제작)

  • In electrophoresis, it is studied to get best condition of suspension media with alcoholic system for superconducting film. High-temperature superconductor films of $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ were fabricated by electrophoretic deposition(EPD) from alcohol-based suspension. Maximum stability is observed for the suspension containing iso-alcohol as dispersion medium. However, for the formation of a dense and adherent coating of YBCO on a silver substrate by EPD. the best results were obtained in mixing PrOH and BuOH suspension. The superconducting critical current density($J_c$) was $1,200A/cm^2$ for the films deposited in 30% iso-PrOH and 70 % iso-BuOH suspension.

Characteristic of Magnetic Shielding Type High-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiter Using Magnetization Curve of Iron Core (철심의 자화곡선을 이용한 자기차폐형 고온초전도 전류제한기 특성)

  • In this paper, we compared the characteristic of fault current liminting in the magnetic shielding type High-Tc superconducting fault current limiter(FCL) using both Piecewise linear magnetization curve and real magnetization one of iron core. From this paper, the characteristics of fault current limiting in both cases showed many differences. The latter has higher fault current than the former, because the saturation of iron core was reflected and more accumulated during fault. It is expected that the more exact characteristic of magnetic shielding type High-Tc superconducting FCL was obtained in the case of design and modeling.

  • BiSrCaCuO superconducting thin films have been fabricated by co-deposition using IBS(ion Beam Sputtering) method. Despite setting the composition of thin film Bi2212 or Bi2223, in both cases, Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 phase were appeared. It was confirmed the obtained field of stabilizing phase was represented in the diagonal direction of the right below end in the Arrhenius plot of temperature of the substrate and $PO_3$, and it was distributed in the rezone.

  • In this paper, the limiting characteristics of the fault current in a power system with a superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) applied into neutral line of main transformer in a distribution power line were analyzed. The SFCL applied into the neutral line of main transformer power system can limit the unsymmetrical fault current from the single-line ground fault or the double-line ground fault. In addition, it could be decreased a number of SFCL and a load. This method could be expected to reduction of a power loss in the neutral line, because of a neutral line current is zero in ordinary times.

  • We report on the development of transition edge sensors for x-ray detection. The sensor technology was based on the fabrication of a superconducting film on a thin membrane. A bilayer of a superconductor, Ti, and a noble metal, Au, was e-beam evaporated on a micromachined SiNx. Another Au layer was evaporated on the two side edges of the bilayer in order not to be affected by structural imperfections at the boundaries. With the method described in the present report, the superconducting transition temperature of the device was consistently achieved to near 80 mK with a sharp transition. The energy spectrum ueasured with the device provided 37 eV FWHM for 5.9 x-rays. We also discuss the design and fabrication considerations as well as the performance of the device in detail.

  • YBCO coated conductor called the second-generation superconducting tapes have resistance increase significantly more than BSCCO tapes in terms of the speed or amount when quench occurs, they may have different ranges of application. Such characteristics are thought to get different properties by selection of stabilizing materials in manufacturing superconducting tapes. It is important in selecting superconducting tapes which will be applied to power devices in the future. In this study, one kind of BSCCO tapes and two kinds of YBCO CC with different stabilizing materials and one kind of YBCO CC with non stabilizing materials were used to compare and examine transport characteristics in flux-flow state and quench state with each tape joint of HTS tapes.

  • A magnetic field sensor is fabricated with superconducting ceramics of Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The prepared material shows the superconductivity at about 95K. The sensor at liquid nitrogen temperature shows the increase in electrical resistance by applying magnetic field. Actually, the voltage drop across the sensor is changed from zero to a value more than 100$\mu$V by the applied magnetic field. The change in electrical resistance depends on magnetic field. The sensitivity of this sensor is 2.9 ohm/T. The sensing limit is about $1.5\times$$10^{-5}$ (=1.5$\times$$10^{-1}$ G). The increase in electrical resistance by the magnetic field is ascribed to a modification of the Josephson junctions due to the penetrating magnetic flux into the superconducting material.

  • The superconducting thin films deposited on $SiO_x$ substrate by R.F magnetron sputter using $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ single target have been made and annealed at $940^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The thickness of films were 1000-2000${\AA}$ with a rate of 20-25${\AA}/min$ and superconducting properties of thin films depended on the compositions of pre-annealed the thin films. It has been analyzed by SEM photo-analysis and X-ray diffraction patterns of these samples obtained under the various conditions of this sputtering methods. and recognized the supperconducting thin films by electric properties.

Analysis on Power Burden of HTSC Module due to Fault Current's Amplitude of a Flux-Lock Type SFCL with Two Triggering Currents (두 트리거 전류를 갖는 자속구속형 초전도한류기의 고장전류 크기에 따른 초전도 모듈의 전력부담 분석)

  • In this paper, the power burden of High-TC superconducting (HTSC) module comprising the flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with two triggering currents during the fault period was analyzed. The short-circuit tests for the simulated power system with the SFCL in the different fault positions, which were expected to affect the amplitude of the fault current, were carried out. Through the comparative analysis on the power burden of the HTSC modules, the proposed flux-lock type SFCL was confirmed to be effective to divide into two power burdens according to the amplitude of the fault currents.

  • In this paper, the fault current limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL (superconducting fault current limiter) using magnetic application circuit were analyzed. The flux-lock type SFCL has the structure to install the magnetic application circuit, which can increase the resistance of HTSC ($high-T_C$ superconducting element comprising) the SFCL. To analyze the fault current limiting effect of the flux-lock type SFCL through the magnetic flux application circuit, the flux-lock type SFCL either with the magnetic flux circuit or without the magnetic flux circuit was constructed and the fault current limiting characteristics of the SFCL were compared each other through the short-circuit tests.
