  • In case of earth-covered storage, the condensation occurs on surface of wall and stores in summer with high humidity because of low temperature of constructional mass. Therefore, the preventive plans should be considered to protect stores from the damage by corrosion in earth-covered storages. This study aims to suggest the methods of forced ventilation by the air, to solve the problems of construction's surface condensation at the Magazine of igloo type which is similar to earth-covered storages. A fan was installed at the air outlet for exhaust gas to conduct forced ventilation. The surface and indoor temperature were measured, and then the influence of those on condensation was analyzed. The results of this research are follows; 1) Forced ventilation by a fan affects the rise in surface temperature of walls and stores. 2) The condensation on surface of walls and stores was reduced after operating a fan.

  • To be able to work safely and efficiency, the Threshold Limit Values (TLV) for work in the heat are widely used. Since these TLV are only applicable to workers in regular clothing, TLV should be adjusted when applied to the asbestos removal workers who wear extra impermeable protective clothing. Although abbreviated guidelines for heat stress exposure have been proposed, literature advocating their use in the asbestos removal industry is limited. Therefore, we planed a survey to evaluate the workload of asbestos abatement workers in summer, and an experiment with climatic chambers to evaluate the effects of resting in a cool environment between work periods. From these studies, we got following conclusions. There is a high risk of suffering from heat illness by asbestos abatement work in summer in Japan. It is proposed to create a cool room inside the workplace of asbestos abatement work to reduce thermal stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to obtain the basic data on clothing habits for health promotion through the investigation of clothing weight by month and season. Thirty six subjects (18 males and females twenties) were composed to obtain the clothing weight(Total clothing weight) for a year. And then clothing weight was grouped in to four seasons : spring(Mar-May) Summer(Jun-Aug) Fall(Sep-Nov) and Winter(Dec-Feb). The data of males and females were respectively divided into three groups by cluster analysis with clothing weight. 1. The clothing weight of male and female were the heaviest in jan, that of male were smallest in July female in Aug. 2. The clothing weight mean of male(996g/m2) were heavier than that of female(894g/m2) for year. The seasonal clothing weight of male culminated in Winter(1179g/m2) and decreased respectively : Spring (973g/m2) Fall(879g/m2) and summer(559g/m2) The seasonal clothing weight of female culminated in Winter (1068g/m2) and decreased respectively ; Fall(865g/m2) Spring(835g/m2) and summer(479g/m2). The seasonal clothing weight variations were significantly different in each season(p<0.01) but they were insignificantly different between Spring and Fall. middle and light. There was individual differences in the clothing weight especially large in Winter and Spring and small in Summer and Fall. 4. Lower inner clothing weight was the lowest fluctuant all around year upper outer clothing weight was the most fluctuant. So he/she controled upper outer clothing to deal with thermal environment. He/she pretended natural textiles such as cotton and wool to synthetic textiles.

  • The purpose of this study is on identifying the function of ground temperature arrangement of village grove. Case study was accomplished at Hacho village grove in Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk province. Hacho village grove was the largest grove of all and most formal grove in Jinan region. So ground temperature of outside and inside of Hacho village grove were measured from March to October in 2001. And comparative review about difference between outside and inside of village grove was accomplished. Our ancestors, in spite of orient and occident, have made a settlement in consideration of climatic conditions. We have to team from past pattern and add modern scientific technology. So traditional wisdom and wise planning process must be considered in order to create qualitative residential environment in present through natural elements. It is identified that in winter, the inner side ground temperature is higher than outside one of that and in summer, in contrary, the inner side one of that is lower than outside one of that. So it is identified that Macho village grove breaks winds and reduce the heating energy in winter, it reduces ground temperature and reduces cooling energy very well in summer. It is identified that village grove reduce ground temperature in summer better than any other season. It is identified that in summer, the effect of maintaining constant temperature is also better than my other season. So it is identified that village grove stabilize most changeable outside temperature in inside of that.

  • To clarify the community structure of phytoplankton in the Kyeonggi Bay, the community analysis were performed to investigate the relationship between the environmental factors and the phytoplankton communities. Low diversity with occurrence of few dominant species throughout the year, except summer, implies that ecological environment of this study area is very unstable due to incessant physical perturbation and large fluctuation of other environmental factors. According to the results of the cluster analysis this study area could be divided into river discharge, polluted and unpolluted area. Principal component analysis of overall phytoplankton community in this area clearly showed four seasonal succession patterns grouped into the spring type, the summer type, the late summer type, the late autumn-winter type. Summer communities composed of common phytoplankton are highly correlated with temperature and transparency. Winter communities composed of most tychopelagic plankton are positively correlated with suspended substances and nutrient, while negatively correlated with transparency.

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between nutrients and phytoplankton; and phytoplankton and organic matter. In order to examine the limiting nutrient for phytoplankton, Redfield ration was used and revealed nitrogen limitation. Nitrogen limitation was greatest with a 4.7 DIN/DIP ratio especially during the summer season. Chl.-a increase by 79% and 97% in spring and summer, respectively, compared to winter. COD was lowest with 0.84mg/l in winter and highest with 1.12mg/l in summer. The interrelationship between nutrients and Chl.-a was high. Relationship coefficient$(r^2)$ between DIN and Chl.-a, and DIP and Chl.-a were 0.93 and 0.89, respectively. This suggests Nutrients might be utilized at the increase of phytoplankton. Also, Relationship coefficient$(r^2)$ between Chl.-a and COD was 0.78. COD production rate was calculated with Regression Equation. The COD production rate was 25% in winter and 40% in summer.
