Report on Two Cases of Treatment of Anxiety Disorder with Panic Attacks-on the Basis of Breath-Counting Meditation (Anapanasati)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of breath-counting meditation on anxiety disorder patients with panic attack. Methods: Two anxiety disorder patients with panic attack were treated with Breath-counting Meditation, acupunctures, and herb-medications. The patients have been predicted for anxiety disorder with panic attack through Dignosis and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV), Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS), BDI (Beck Depression Inventory), and BAI (Beck Anxiety Inventory) on their 1st and 6th treatments. Results: After the treatments, both the physical and psychological symptoms have decreased. Conclusions: This study suggests that the breath-counting meditation is an effective way for treating patients who are suffering from anxiety disorder with panic attack.

Power-Efficient Wireless Neural Stimulating System Design for Implantable Medical Devices

  • Neural stimulating implantable medical devices (IMDs) have been widely used to treat neurological diseases or interface with sensory feedback for amputees or patients suffering from severe paralysis. More recent IMDs, such as retinal implants or brain-computer interfaces, demand higher performance to enable sophisticated therapies, while consuming power at higher orders of magnitude to handle more functions on a larger scale at higher rates, which limits the ability to supply the IMDs with primary batteries. Inductive power transmission across the skin is a viable solution to power up an IMD, while it demands high power efficiencies at every power delivery stage for safe and effective stimulation without increasing the surrounding tissue's temperature. This paper reviews various wireless neural stimulating systems and their power management techniques to maximize IMD power efficiency. We also explore both wireless electrical and optical stimulation mechanisms and their power requirements in implantable neural interface applications.

Acquired Palatal Fistula in Patients with Submucous and Incomplete Cleft Palate before Surgery

  • It is uncommon for a palatal fistula to be detected in individuals who have not undergone surgery, and only sporadic cases have been reported. It is even more difficult to find cases of acquired palatal fistula in patients with submucous or incomplete cleft palate. Herein, we present 2 rare cases of this phenomenon. Case 1 was a patient with submucous cleft palate who acquired a palatal fistula after suffering from oral candidiasis at the age of 5 months. Case 2 was a patient with incomplete cleft palate who spontaneously, without trauma or infection, presented with a palatal fistula at the age of 9 months.

  • Construction companies find it increasingly necessary to reduce the cost as the construction market has been suffering from a depression and the industrial environment has been changing fast lately. The cost cut demands the productivity management of the field operations, which can be made feasible by assigning an appropriate number of managers on the construction site. However, previous studies are focused on the labor productivity and construction companies take into account only the revenue per worker in organizing the staff. The purpose of this study is to research the model for calculating the field management manpower in accordance with the characteristic of project and site conditions which are usually considered in the beginning of the construction project. The data about apartment building projects of domestic large constructors and factors related to them were statistically analyzed. The results of this study can be used to calculate the necessary field management manpower in accordance with the characteristic of project.

민자유치 경전철시스템 평가기준에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Evaluation Criteria of Privately Financed Light Weight Rail Transit System)

  • Recently, many local governments suffering from traffic congestion have plans to introduce light weight (mid-size) rail transit systems, since the systems' investment costs are known to be much less than heavy rail transits such as the subway in Seoul. Most of the governments expect private partners to be involved in the systems' constructions and operations mainly because of their financial difficulties. Since the governments do not have experiences of evaluating and selecting privately financed transportation systems, they may need an evaluation guideline. This paper discusses evaluation criteria, methodologies, and procedures which will be helpful to local governments faced with evaluating light weight rail transit systems proposed by private companies.

  • In this paper, to calculate accurate remaining volume, it presents how to figure out nickel-cadmium battery algorithm. A nickel-cadmium battery has widely been used in industrial field and to military. Recent high demands on the battery caused 'How to calculate accurate remaining volume is very important task to be solved. In this paper, it says it is useful using the terminal voltage change of the resistance that can be connected with the battery and the differentiation of the terminal voltage to calculate remaining volume of nickel-cadmium battery. And these can be used for volume inference data so that it is fuzzy based system which can be helpful to inference the remaining volume by the resistance of terminal voltage change. Because of electrochemical complexity, the volume calculating system is inferencing undirectly by experimentally built DB where as current the existing volume models are suffering to be adapted.

입력 외란이 존재하는 비동기 순차 머신의 교정 제어 II : 제어기 설계 (Corrective Control of Asynchronous Sequential Machines with Input Disturbance II : Controller Design)

  • This paper presents the problem of controlling asynchronous sequential machines in the presence of input disturbances, which may be also regarded as an adversary in a game theoretic setting. The main objective is to provide necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a corrective controller that solves model matching problem of an asynchronous machine suffering from input disturbance. The existence condition can be stated in terms of a simple comparison of two skeleton matrices. The proposed controller eliminates the adversarial effect of input disturbance and makes the controlled machine mimic the behavior of a model in stable-state way. Whenever controller exists, algorithms for their design are outlined and demonstrated in a case study.

  • 체외에서 hematopoietic cells의 배양은 필수이식으로 하여금 hematopoietic malignancies로 인해 고통받는 환자들을 치료할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 골수의 초기 농도$1.5{\times}10^6cells/ml$로 하여 IL-3(5ng/ml), SCF(5ng/ml)과 FL(25ng/ml)의 성장 인자들을 첨가함으로써 bone marrow의 전체 cell의 증식은 생성시키지 못 했지만 LTC-IC는 3.6배의 증식을 가져왔다.

붕루(崩漏) 환자(患者) 1례(例)에 대한 임상보고 (A case report of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for the abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods : We treated a 30-year-old female who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding for one month by Herb medication(Yikweseungyangtang, Chokyungjongoktang, Jahagehwan), acupuncture therapy and moxibustion therapy at the same time. And these teatments were based on 塞流([sailiu]-stanch blood), 澄源([chengyuan]-correct origin), 復舊([fuliu-restore) which are principles of treatment of 崩漏([benglou]-metrorrhagia). Results : After oriental medical teatment, abnormal uterine bleeding was disappeared and recovered the normal menstrual cycle. Conclusion : This case study shows that the oriental medical treatment in accordance with three principles of oriental treatment has an useful effect on abnormal uterine bleeding patient's treatment and recovery.
