  • An innovating technique of atomizer has been proposed to supply and to atomise molten materials. Both of a simple geometry of nozzle and an improved nozzle have been fabricated in the present study. With these nozzles, characteristics of the suction and disintegration have been empirically investigated. The important conclusions are as follows; In the case of a simple nozzle: 1) Although the sucking up and supplying of molten materials are available, the applications of powder metallurgy are limited. 2) It is concluded that the more air flow rate, $W_A$ or the shorter the height of air nozzle from the surface of supplied water, $L_h$, the more the atomizing mass of liquids, $W_L$. In the case of an improved nozzle: 3) The stable liquids can be supplied due to cut off the passage of surrounding air entrainment by air jets. 4) The atomizing mass of liquids, $W_L$ has affected not so much on the height of nozzle from the surface of supplied water, $L_h$ as that from the orifice, hc.

  • Angelman syndrome(AS) is a rare genetic neurological disorder. The main clinical characteristics of this syndrome are delayed neuropsychological development, intellectual disability, speech impairment, jerky movements especially hand-lapping, frequent laughter or smiling. AS is a classic example of genetic imprinting in that it is usually caused by deletion or inactivation of genes on the maternally inherited chromosome 15. The syndrome has oral manifestations such as diastemas, tongue thrusting, sucking/swallowing disorder, mandibular prognathism, frequent drooling, and excessive chewing behavior. The purpose of this paper is to describe the interesting aspects of the dental treatment of a childe with AS.

  • Galactosemia is a metabolic disorder inherited by the recessive autosome, and appears by the deficiency of one enzyme out of GALT (Galactose-1-Phosphate Uridyltransferase), GALK (galactokinase), and GALE (epimerase) enzymes, among which the GALT deficiency disease is denominated as classical galactosemia and known to have symptoms such as severe nausea, jaundice, hepatomegaly, sucking difficulty and so on. We report the case of a 16-day-old female baby with the new p.A101D mutation together with p.N413d in the GALT gene analysis found in the neonatal screening test and diagnosed to have galactosemia by the GALT deficiency through the enzyme analysis. For the prognosis prediction, the treatment, the genetic counseling and the prenatal diagnosis of the patients, more detailed genetic diagnosis is required by performing GALT gene analysis, and it is deemed to be necessary to analyze the correlation between the phenotype and the genotype of the domestic galactosemia patients.

  • Objective: This study was designed to assess the correlation between gastrointestinal symptoms, depression, and anxiety in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Method: New patients who visited the ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Oriental Hospital completed standardized questionnaires. These consisted of questionnaires for IBS based on Rome III criteria, the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Results: A total of 103 patients participated. Among them, IBS was observed in 42 patients. There was a weak correlation between GSRS and BDI, but it was not statistically significant. There was a statistically significant weak correlation between GSRS and BAI. The main symptom factors affecting BAI were borborygmus, increased flatus, sucking sensations in the epigastrium, and abdominal distension. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant correlation between gastrointestinal symptoms and anxiety in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

  • This case report describes the management of a 51-year-old female patient who arrived at the emergency room with a stab wound to the upper right chest. Immediate medical interventions were undertaken, including blood transfusions and endotracheal intubation. To prevent tension and control bleeding, gauze packing was applied directly through the large open wound. Further surgical exploration identified a laceration in the lung, necessitating a right upper lobe resection. Postoperatively, the patient's vital signs stabilized, and she was subsequently discharged without complications. This case highlights the decision-making process in selecting between an emergency department thoracotomy and an operating room thoracotomy for patients with penetrating chest trauma. It also illustrates the role of gauze packing in managing tension and hemorrhage. In summary, gauze packing can be an effective interim measure for stabilizing patients with traumatic injuries, unstable vital signs, and large open chest wounds, particularly when a chest tube is already in place, to prevent tension and facilitate bleeding control prior to surgical intervention.

  • Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare neurodevelopmental disease caused by abnormality of chromosome 15q11-13. The estimated prevalence of PWS is 1/10,000-30,000. Most common features of this disease are feeding problems characterized by poor sucking habit related with neonatal or infantile hypotonia and obesity due to early childhood hyperphagia involved with lack of satiety. In the orodental findings, enamel hypoplasia, rampant caries, delayed eruption, poor oral hygiene, hypodontia, supernumerary teeth, increased tooth wear, decreased salivary flow and change in saliva composition were reported. This case report describes the dental treatment of 3-year-9-months-old male patient with PWS. Periodic check-ups and conservative treatments were followed, however, rapid dental caries progression caused by estimating hyposalivation was observed. Because of lack of patient cooperation, dental procedures were performed under general anesthesia.

  • Deep burns of the face & lips often lead to scarring and contraction of the circum-oral tissues with a marked reduction in the size of the oral aperture. Such burns most commonly caused by electrical contact, for example, children sucking electric plugs, or as a result of chemical burns and the exposture to flame. Once having burns, burned tissue may contract and reduce considerably the size and mobility of the mouth ; therefore bring up the resultant functional disturbance, verbal difficulty, even digestive difficulty, and poor appearance, which fall into difficulty in social acceptability, caused by burns. In our department, 2 patients who were complain of functional limitations and esthetic problem owing to scar contracture, were visited, and we treated this microstomia with scar excision, graft and flap technique, and postoperative intensive physical therapy. We obtained relatively favorable results, thus report this cases with literature review.

  • Conventional cold isostatic pressing, slip casting, and filter pressing are not completely suitable for fabricating large plates because of disadvantages such as the high cost of equipment and formation of density gradient. These problems could be avoided by employing pressure-vacuum hybrid slip casting (PVHSC). In the PVHSC, the consolidation occurs not only by the compression of the slip in casting room, but also by vacuum sucking of the dispersion medium around the mold. We prepared the alumina bodies by the PVHSC in a static- or stepwise-pressure manner for loading up to 0.5 MPa using an aqueous slip. The green bodies were dried at $30^{\circ}C$ with 40 ~ 80% relative humidity. Under static pressure, casting induced a density gradient in the formed body, resulting in cracking and distortion after the firing. However, the stepwise pressure loading resulted in green bodies with homogeneous density, and the minimization of the appearance of those defects in final products. Desirable drying results were obtained from the cast bodies dried with 80% RH environment humidity. When sintered at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 4 h, the alumina plate made by stepwise-pressure casting reached full density (> 99.7% relative density).

  • The study on the major insect pests community of Hibiscus syriacus. There were three orders, seven families, and thirteen species of insects harmful to H. syriacus. When the harmful insects eating H. syriacus were classified according to which part of the flower they were eating, insects eating leaves, which considered of nine species four families and one order, accounted for 69.23 %. Insects sucking juice from leaves and stems comprised 15.38 %, with two species two families and two orders, while insects eating seeds comprised 15.38 %, with two species two families and two orders. Aphis gossypii appeared once per H. syriacus from the fourth week of April to the second week of June, appearing the most at a rate of 69.05 per H. syriacus during the first week of May. Dichocrocis surusalis appeared at a rate of 0.05 per H. syriacus during the third week of April and regularly appeared from the first week of July to the second week of September. Nortacha derogata appeared at a rate of 0.1 per tree during the first week of May, after which it continuously appeared until the third week of October. Anomis privata appeared at a rate of 0.05 per tree during the first week of May and continuously occurred from the fourth week of June to the fourth week of October. Its occurrence was most frequent at 2.30 per tree during the third week of September.
