  • This study attempts to develop the scale of 'Successful Aging' for Korean elderly. It follows fives: (1)developing 105 items based on the literature reviews, (2)performing the 1st survey to confirm and reduce items, (3)verifying the content validity through the professional group and the elderly focused group, (4)performing the 2nd survey to explore the factors of 'Successful Aging' and (5)performing the 3rd survey to identify the construct validity and concurrent validity. The scale constructs four factors with 30 items. The four factors are confirmed : (1)self efficacy, (2)satisfaction with adult children's success, (3)couple life like companion, (4)self control. The reliability of this scale is 0.94 and the relationship between the items and each factor are statistically significant by the confirmatory factor analysis. Thus, the content validity is verified. Also the correlation with the successful aging and the life satisfaction is 0.69 and then the concurrent validity is verified. This 'Successful Aging Scale' for Korean elderly will contribute to use as the socio-metrics at the welfare practice for aging.

  • While the electronic commerce (EC) applies to most products, whether digitized or not, the EC for fisheries does not seem very successful. Many reasons lie behind this. However, insufficient and/or inconsistent legal and institutional provisions and lack of adequate government supports should be an immediate concern. This study identifies and analyzes problems with the current electronic commerce and trade for fisheries, and suggests institutional provisions and policies for successful expansion of the newly introduced marketing and distribution system.

  • Superior mesenteric artery aneurysm is the third most common lesion and comprises approximately 5.5 % of all visceral artery aneurysms. The first successful repair was performed by DeBakey and Cooley in 1949. Since then, more than 100 cases have been reported. Fifty to sixty percent of these aneurysms are mycotic in origin. Other less frequent causes include arteriosclerosis, trauma, and medial degeneration. The operations are bypass with autologous tissue or with artificial vascular graft and aneurysmorrhaphy. We have experienced a case of superior mesenteric artery aneurysm which had undergone aneurysmectomy and artificial graft interposition. This is the first domestic case which was successful surgical repaired.

  • This paper is a report on in-progress investigation on antecedents of IS success in small and medium size enterprises. Previous studies on IS success in SME context largely extends research models derived from a large enterprise context. This research applies the grounded theory approach to 1109 ISP outputs exploring SME specific constructs in successful IS implementation and management. When successful, results of this research will provide insights into theories of IS in SME context that may practically applicable to IS practice in SMEs.

  • With the object of doing mechanical grafting of cucurbitaceous vegetables, the grafting robot was developed in 1989. This robot consists of the following components : feeding wheels, grippers, conveying wheels, cutters , fixing clipper, discharger , controller and power supply. One cycle time to produce a grafted plant is about 3 seconds, Results of some cucumber grafting tests : successful grafting rate of 98 percent and after acclimation, a successful agglutination rate of 95 percent. These techniques are now transferring to the private company. The commercial robot will come into the market in this year.

  • This case study aims at investigating the factors which make venture firms successful. It analysedthree high-performance venture firms originated from the government-financed rese arch institute, the company and the university on the viewpoint of 'dynamic capability' theory. In this case study, technology integration capability and administrative innovation capability were identified as success factors of the three venture firms. The study also presented the role of the incubating organizations. Although incubating organizations supported technological and managerial resource-building of the entrepreneurs, there was not active interactive-learning between venture firms and incubating organizations after spin-off.

  • For successful route guidance, navigation systems should provide to users more realistic and actual information such as photographs than those in either 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional models. In this paper, we propose a method for servicing photographs for route guidance in navigation systems. The method includes how to acquire photographs with the most successful view for the guidance, how to construct link information among them and navigational map data, and how to provide the images to users efficiently.

  • A successful design approach for noise barriers should be multidisciplinary because noise reduction goals influence both acoustical and non-acoustical considerations, such as maintenance, safety, physical construction, cost, and visual impact. These various barrier design options are closely related with barrier dimensions. In this study, we have proposed an optimal design method of straight noise barriers using genetic algorithm, providing a barrier having the smallest dimension and achieving the specified noise reduction at a receiver region exposed to the industry and traffic noise, to help a successful barrier design.

  • Septal myectomy is the gold-standard treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. However, it involves the risk of incomplete resection of septal muscles or iatrogenic septal perforation depending on the surgeon's practice. Herein, we suggest a few tips for successful septal myectomy and present a relevant case.
