  • As the digital economy goes global, firms are trying to find suppliers that can address their managerial goals and strategies. The alternatives are not confined to domestic firms. Firms have been trying to connect to foreign partners worldwide. Although offshore outsourcing grants firms various benefits, they present big cultural challenges. However, there is little research on the impact of cultural or country factors on outsourcing. The goal of this paper is to synthesize the outsourcing success literature and develop propositions for outsourcing success in the context of offshore outsourcing. This paper proposes that cultural effects should be included in evaluating the success of offshore outsourcing. Knowledge sharing and the scope of outsourcing are adopted in the base outsourcing success model from previous literature. In the extended model partnership quality is included as a mediator and organizational capability and outsourcing relationship type are also included as moderator. Finally, the integrated framework of offshore outsourcing success includes cultural factors as moderators of the relationships between outsourcing success antecedents and the success of offshore outsourcing. Reasoning for propositions, managerial implications, and future research directions are discussed.

  • This study thus set out to empirically analyze connections between the success factors of marketing and management performance in the silver industry. For that purpose, the investigator analyzed relations between independent variables, which include such success factors of marketing as market segmentation, product mix, customer relational management, brand asset, price strategy, and marketing information system, and dependent ones, which include financial and non-financial management performance. Those results partially support the hypothesis that the six success factors of marketing set in the study have effects on financial and non-financial management performance in the silver industry. Customer relational management had the biggest influence, being followed by brand asset and price strategy in the order. Those results indicate that companies need to consider customer relational management, brand asset, and price strategy before other success factors of marketing to achieve financial and non-financial management performance in the silver industry.

The study was conducted with 262,837 smokers aged 19 or over who were provided with smoking cessation services for more than 6 months after being registered with the smoking cessation clinic at public health centers(250 clinics nationwide) from July 16, 2006 to July 15, 2007. After dividing smokers into re-enrollees and new enrollees of the smoking cessation clinic, the success rate of and success factors for smoking cessation over 6 months have been investigated. The success factors in smoking cessation have been compared between new enrollees and re-enrollees of smoking cessation clinics. The results can be summarized as follows: First, the success rate of smoking cessation for 6 months at smoking cessation clinics of public health centers was higher in new enrollees (46.3%) than in re-enrollees (41.1%). Second, the common factors that had an influence on the success of smoking cessation of both new enrollees and re-enrollees of the smoking cessation clinic included age, social security, service, frequency of counseling, number of cigarettes per day, and alcoholic problems. Third, compared to new enrollees, re-enrollees had a higher success rate of smoking cessation as they got older. In terms of the success rate of health insurance, on the contrary, new enrollees were better than re-enrollees. Fourth, the study showed a higher success rate in smoking cessation in both new and re-enrollees if they had no alcoholic problems. In particular, a higher success rate was observed in re-enrollees when there were no alcoholic problems. To efficiently operate smoking cessation clinics at public health centers, this study confirmed that counseling should be tailored depending on the types of enrollees in the program.

  • According to the study of TQM implementations, the odds that an organization will successfully implement total quality management are two to one-against it. Based on the Brown's study, two thirds of all TQM implementations are dropped or fail altogether. However, organizations armed with knowledge of the factors that have the biggest impact on their success can take steps to influence or change those factors. In this paper, we studied on the degree of influence between those factors and successful start up and alignment factors. Based on extensive literature reviews those factors, threat, commitment, plan, progress and strategy are determined. Also we determine the successful start up and alignment factors. A framework of research including above factors is developed and tested statistically The Perceived data are collected from managers of quality departments of 141 Korean firms through survey. The results show that the rating of those factors which determine success of implementing TQM is progress, commitment, strategy and progress. But the factor of threat shows negative influence for the success of implementing TQM.
