The study of the safety evaluation method on domestic subway using multi-criteria decision analysis (다기준 의사결정기법을 이용한 국내 지하철 안전성 평가 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The efforts to reduce industrial accident has been brisk recently in workplace. These efforts were mainly concentrated on construction and manufacturing. Despite these efforts, current accident rate so far has been maintained on the fixed level. According to the change of industrial structure, the government's attention on industrial accident prevention activities are focused in service industries. When trying to appraise the result of such activities, it is impossible to evaluate safety without certain criteria. Therefore, we analyze data by TOPSIS method that all the subway institution jointly manage every year. we decide the order of safety priority between domestic subway workplaces and measure the variation in safety by sensitivity. As a result, we draw conclusions to improve safety for the primary consideration and suggest alternatives.

A Study on Stability of Middle Slabs supporting Train Loads in Subway Station (열차하중을 지지하는 지하철정거장 중간슬래브의 안정성 연구)

  • This study present the stability of middle slabs directly supporting train loads in the subway station. According to results of Quality confirmation, mixing and curing conditions are good. But, when effects of hydration heat are analyzed, cracks seems to take place because tensile stress is higher than tensile strength in several points of middle slabs. It is found that vibration by train running don't have an effect on cracks in the structure. The structural analysis shows that there is no problem on the stability of structural body, but the design through 3-dimensional analysis is need to consider columns and opening specially in the subway station structures.

  • Steel construction is one of the commonly used methods in building construction due to its efficiency in terms of time and cost. In particular, the top-down method using steel frames is widely used in the construction of underground structures in urban areas to shorten the construction period. However, there is currently no standardized cost estimation for subway steel frame construction in Korea, causing difficulties in determining the expected cost. In this study, we aim to provide basic data for establishing a cost estimation standard for subway steel frame construction through on-site surveys of subway steel frame construction commonly used in urban areas.

Smoke Control According to the Ventilation Capacity in Subway Tunnel Fire: I. FDS Simulation (지하철 터널 화재시 환기시설의 용량에 따른 제연효과 I. FDS 시뮬레이션)

  • In this study, we investigate simulation studies to confirm the removal of smoke through ventilation when the subway car is on fire and stopped in an underground subway tunnel, by using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) which is being upgraded by NIST. The structure of subway tunnel and train for simulation modeling are based actual data from Seoul metropolitan subway. The main purpose of this study is to assure the removal efficiency of the ventilation when changing the ventilation capacity between 2.0 m/s and 3.0 m/s. The results of the study shows that carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) are reduced by about 35% as the ventilation capacity is increased by 0.5 m/s. This study also performs the grid sensitivity verification of FDS for improved accuracy of the results. To find the effective size of the grid, three cases are simulated and the results are compared.

  • This study identifies visible/invisible factors and analyzes facilities, structure, and visible perceptive contents in the aspects of operation and efficiency with a focus on the interfaces between interior design of the subway and users. More specifically, it diagnoses the requirements and empirically presents improvements. In addition, this study aims to diagnose the interfaces between trains and users by reinterpreting and evaluating factors from the perspectives of users, and to elicit the universal interface and an objective form of conceptual, structural, and formative relations in regard to the conditions required to the design. As the interior design in the subway trains is for the public reflecting the value, consciousness, and behaviors of users, it should be approached through the application of the concept of universal design that considers the potential needs and psychological satisfaction of users. In arranging the indoor of the vehicles, the conditions for the facilities should be specified through the interdisciplinary approach from professional fields including ergonomics and psychology, the path of flow should be induced through the use of space and the analysis of passengers' behaviors, an integrated planning should be re-established, and continuous evaluations of basic guidelines, manuals, and requirements should be made.

  • Bus, Which is together with subway the main part of public transportation modes in the city, is reviewed for the development of an optimal feeder-bus service area. Based on the IDRISI of GIS package, and taking into account of the convenience of downtown-oriented public transportation users at peak time, a model for the development of feeder-bus service area and a solution and introduced. Major result in this study is as follows: Development is given to a model that is designed to overcome the shortage of the existing models, which has limits in simulating the real situation; Variables were used in combination so that bus and subway route, station spacing, and operating frequency can be determined simultaneously, which enables to elucidate the mutual relationship and the structure in public transportation system. A model for feeder-bus area development is also given applied to determination and opening of subway and urban express bus route and new transportation systems. The model developed in this paper is useful in the case of extension and opening of subway and urban express bus route and new transportation Systems.

  • Structure safety inspection is executing periodically to apply with maintenance data of the structure. Because of the location of structure is appearing by measuring point and picture in the subway. It is difficult to track the accurate location of the inspected structure. Purpose of this paper is computerizing location and attribute of construction and searching efficiency by GIS.

  • Recently, the expansion of social infrastructures and urban redevelopment, the construction works have been a rapidly increase. The subway's noise and vibration are on a continuously increasing status in its importance as by the industrial and cultural development process. Nevertheless, in our country, adequate alternative idea for the construction noise and vibration are not yet established. In this point, the purpose of this study is to know the vibration effect to the structure. This study was used to determine the standard of vibration and the way of losing vibration. The case of construction site is a good example. The data of this study was obtained by a construction company in Korea. Vibration effect could cause structural problems and affect human mental state. The results of this study are as follows; check the vibrating point, determine the suitable limit of vibration, make a good plan and construction.

  • Subway stations have a characteristic that the facilities in the ceiling should be checked, replaced or expanded frequently. The frequent opening and closing of ceiling panels result in the damage of panels which makes them easily disengaged. In order to resolve this issue, which is giving difficulty in the maintenance of the stations, this study suggest a sliding ceiling panel structure which can be opened and closed with sliding mechanism, instead of current fixed type ceiling panels. The sliding ceiling panel will prevent the damage of ceiling panels due to frequent disengagement and engagement. It will increase the durability of ceiling panel and extend the cycle of panel replacement. Accordingly, the maintenance cost will be also reduced.

  • The paper deals with the vibration isolation of a large structure using an experimental technology. In the case of vibration isolation for the vicinity of a subway or a railroad station, most of vibration isolation techniques using isolation materials with high isolation efficiency only, have been applied. Therefore, the quantitative evaluation and design technologies are required for a vibration isolation of large structures. In this study, firstly, vibration characteristics due to train or subway are analyzed. Secondly, the performance of existing vibration isolation materials such as precision isolation material, elastomer is estimated through the experiments. Thirdly, the performance of a tire isolation material and its frame is tested and evaluated. Finally, it is shown that tire isolation materials can be applied to the vibration isolation or vibration reduction of large structures.
