Development of Membrane Humidifier for FCEV (연료전지 자동차용 막 가습기 개발)

  • An object of the present study is to provide a hollow fiber membrane humidifier capable of improving the humidification efficiency while lowering the pressure loss, and is suitably usable for PEMFC(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell). The performance of PEMFC is decisively dependent on the humidity of the electrolyte membrane(fluorinated membrane) and a humidifier plays an important role in moisturizing electrolyte membrane. Especially, this humidifier is a passive type(power-free) item and is volumetrically optimized. In this research, we propose the substitutes for the expensive fluorinated humidifier materials and the optimum dry-jet wet spinning conditions of hollow fiber membrane. In addition to that, This study will present an performance of an humidifier and compare computational results with the experimental data.

  • The purpose of this study was to use daily waste incinerated ash, which was reclaimed worthlessly, as substitutes of fine aggregates in concrete. Various kinds of admixture was utilized to strengthen the cement mortar mixed with waste incinerated ash, and altered the curing condition to diminish the rate of expansion. By the results of this experiment, it was possible to produce the lightweight concrete, charactered with the gravity below 1.5 and over 160kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strength by replacing all fine aggregates with waste incinerated ash. It was also observed that the low temperature curing condition, lessoned gas exhausts, was effective to increase the strength of cement mortar.

  • This paper empirically and longitudinally examines relationships among corporate strategy, competitive advantage of information technology (CAIT), and organizational performance. This research replicates the research done in 1997 and compares the results to observe any noticeable changes. Research results confirm that information technology provides several traits of strategic advantages such as efficiency, threat, functionality, preemptiveness, and synergy and significantly contributes to corporate performance both in 1997 and 2004. The findings reinforce the accepted belief that alignment between corporate strategy and CAIT is critical for firms to attain sustainable competitive advantage, subsequently enhances corporate performance and competitive position against rivals, potential entrants, substitutes, suppliers, and buyers. Research results of 2004 show stronger relationships among corporate strategy, competitive advantage of information technology, and organizational performance than research results of 1997.

  • Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary field that utilizes the principles of engineering and life sciences toward the creation of biological substitutes. Traditionally, major components of tissue engineering are cells, scaffolds, growth factors and recently biomechanical aspects have been given much attention. A large number of studies have reported that mechanical signals are of particular interest in either encouraging or inhibiting cellular responses. In tissue engineering, cell adhesion is a very important step, because quality of adhesion may determine a cell fate in the future. Elasticity of cell-adhesive substrate is found critical in regulating stem cell differentiation. Cells exert different contractile forces for cell migration, depending on substrate mechanics. Though tissue engineering is very interactive with diverse expertise, for a breakthrough, principles of biomechanics in tissue and cell level needs to be fully understood.

'The investigation of frequently used only in China' (중국내(中國內)에 다용(多用)되고 한국(韓國)에서 소용(少用)되는 약재(藥材)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察))

  • The Background and Purpose : Many herb-medicines are frequently used in China but they are not in Korea. It is required to prove them worthy to introduce into Korea and to find substitutes for them. The Objective and Methods : During stay in China as a Professor extraordinary, I investigated applications of Chinese modicines, books and theses. The Results and Conclusions : 1. In China the cheap herb-medicines are chosen preferentially and the classic rules of oriental medicine are truly observed. 2. in China it is impossible to prove virtue of ready made herb-medicines because constituents are not opened. 3. Commonly used herb-medicines are drug of clean away heat(淸熱藥) which are antinflammatories or anti-toxins. 4. Antitumorigenic effects was frequently reported but they don't get complete agreement also in China. 5. Herb-medicines which are frequently used in China but not in Korea have no significant differences from commonly used herb-medicines in Korea.

Ab-initio calculation on Co substitution into NiSi (NiSi에의 Co 치환에 대한 ab-initio 계산)

  • Cobalt subtitution on NiSi is investigated by using an ab-initio calculation. Firstly, a relaxed NiSi structure is calculated and the calculated lattice parameters are compared with experimentally determined lattice parameters. The calculated values are smaller than the experimental values by about 2%. As the calculation is based on 0 K, and the experimental measurement is performed at room temperature, those values are in good agreement. Next, a Co atom substitutes a Ni and Si site, respectively, to evaluate the preferable site between them. Co prefers Ni site to Si site. The calculated total energy also indicates that the Co substitution to Ni site stabilizes the NiSi structure. Therefore, the thermal stability of NiSi with Co addition can be achieved by the structure stabilization of NiSi by Co substitution into Ni site of NiSi.

  • The LCD TV has many variable functions for consumer. Low temperature driving below minus 20 degree is also one of key functions. Since LCD is not self-luminance device, it is needed backlight system. Recently EEFL(External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp) widely substitutes for CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp). It is more cheaper, higher efficiency, and easy to drive parallel connection compared to CCFL. In this paper, several conditions for low temperature driving of EEFL are investigated and a new boost-half bridge inverter for low temperature driving is proposed. Mode analysis is described and experimental results is represented to verify validity of the proposed inverter.

  • VSS controller is suited for systems where the robust performances in the presence of parameter variations and disturbances are most important. The practical realization of such robust VSS algorithm using DSP ($TMS_{32020}$) is dicussed in this paper. PWH-like control signal which is produced by directly using VSS control algorithm substitutes the PWM amplifier. And the armature current is used in construction of switching function for the purpose of increasing switching frequency. In order to compensate steady state error produced by various external disturbances practical integral compensator is considered.

Cost Function Estimation of Regional Manufacturing Industries in Ko-rea (지역별 제조업의 비용함수 추정)

  • Regional production structres are investigated through an estimation of three-input(labor, capital and material) translog cost function. The estimation uses the pooled data in which time series data of 1970-1990 are combined with cross-sectional data corresponding to firm sizes. The empirical finding are the following: (1) the factors are Allen substitutes each otner in general except Pusan and a couple of regionss, and (2) estimates are very small in its absolute value irrespective of the regions. The low elasticity estimates of this study implies that substitytability among the three inputs are very weak in the regional manufacturing production compared to that in the national production. Seoul-Kyungki metropolitan area produces not only the smallest elasticities but relatively stable estimates without much fluctuation between the sub-regions of the area.

  • Aluminum alloy sheets are considered as one of the high potential substitutes for steel sheets considering weight reduction of automobiles. However, aluminum alloy sheets have drawbacks in higher prices and inferior formability compared to steel sheets. In order to achieve good deep drawability, it is imperative to obtain well developed {111} texture which gives rise to higher plastic strain ratio. It is difficult to obtain this texture from conventional rolling and annealing processes. Therefore, an unconventional rolling process which enhances shear deformation has been experimentally studied to obtain the well developed {111} texture, which in turn gives rise to a substantial increase in plastic strain ratio.
