In multi-user wireless communication systems, adaptive modulation and scheduling are promising techniques for increasing the system throughput. However, a mass of wireless recourse will be occupied and spectrum efficiency will be decreased to feedback channel quality indication (CQI) of all users in every subcarrier or chunk for adaptive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Thus numerous limited feedback schemes are proposed to reduce the system overhead. The recently proposed compressive sensing (CS) theory provides a new framework to jointly measure and compress signals that allows less sampling and storage resources than traditional approaches based on Nyquist sampling. In this paper, we proposed two novel CQI feedback schemes based on general CS and subspace CS, respectively, both of which could be used in a wireless OFDM system. The feedback rate with subspace CS is greatly decreased by exploiting the subspace information of the underlying signal. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods, with the same feedback rate, the throughputs with subspace CS outperform the discrete cosine transform (DCT) based method which is usually employed, and the throughputs with general CS outperform DCT when the feedback rate is larger than 0.13 bits/subcarrier.
Many high-resolution algorithms based on the eigen-decomposition analysis of observed covariance matrix, such as MVE, MUSIC, and EVM, have been proposed. However, the resolution of spectral estimates for these algorithms is severely degraded when Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is low and arrival angles of signal are close to each other. And EVM and MUSIC is powerful for the characteristic of SNR. But have the limitation that the number of signals presented is known. While MVE is bad the characteristic of SNR. In this study, we propose a modified MVE to enhance the resolution for Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation of underwater acoustic signal. This is to remove the limitation that existing algorithms should know the information for the number of signals. Because the algorithms founded on the eigen value estimate DOA with only the noise subspace, they have the high-resolution characteristic. And then, with the method reducing the effect of the signal subspace, we are to reduce the degradation because of complementary relationship between the signal subspace and the noise subspace. This paper, with using the simulation data, we have estimated the proposed algorithms, compared it with other high-resolution algorithms. The simulation results show that the modified MVE proposed is accurate and has a better resolution even though SNR is low, under the same condition.
In this paper, several modal identification techniques for output-only structural systems are extensively investigated. The methods considered are the power spectral method, the frequency domain decomposition method, the Ibrahim time domain method, the eigensystem realization algorithm, and the stochastic subspace identification method. Generally, the power spectral method is most widely used in practical area, however, the other methods may give better estimates particularly for the cases with closed modes and/or with large measurement noise. Example analyses were carried out on typical structural systems under three different loading cases, and the identification performances were examined throught the comparisons between the estimates by various methods.
Flutter derivatives provide the basis of predicting the critical wind speed in flutter and buffeting analysis of long-span cable-supported bridges. In this paper, one popular stochastic system identification technique, covariance-driven Stochastic Subspace Identification(SSI in short), is firstly presented for estimation of the flutter derivatives of bridge decks from their random responses in turbulent flow. Secondly, wind tunnel tests of a streamlined thin plate model and a ${\Pi}$ type blunt bridge section model are conducted in turbulent flow and the flutter derivatives are determined by SSI. The flutter derivatives of the thin plate model identified by SSI are very comparable to those identified by the unifying least-square method and Theodorson's theoretical values. As to the ${\Pi}$ type section model, the effect of turbulence on aerodynamic damping seems to be somewhat notable, therefore perhaps the wind tunnel tests for flutter derivative estimation of those models with similar blunt sections should be conducted in turbulent flow.

In the paper, as a sequence of the first tutorial, we discuss sufficient dimension reduction methodologies used to estimate central subspace (sliced inverse regression, sliced average variance estimation), central mean subspace (ordinary least square, principal Hessian direction, iterative Hessian transformation), and central $k^{th}$-moment subspace (covariance method). Large-sample tests to determine the structural dimensions of the three target subspaces are well derived in most of the methodologies; however, a permutation test (which does not require large-sample distributions) is introduced. The test can be applied to the methodologies discussed in the paper. Theoretical relationships among the sufficient dimension reduction methodologies are also investigated and real data analysis is presented for illustration purposes. A seeded dimension reduction approach is then introduced for the methodologies to apply to large p small n regressions.
In this paper, a new multi-group neutron-gamma transport calculation code system STRAUM-MATXST for complicated geometrical problems is introduced and its development status including numerical tests is presented. In this code system, the MATXST (MATXS-based Cross Section Processor for SN Transport) code generates multi-group neutron and gamma cross sections by processing MATXS format libraries generated using NJOY and the STRAUM (SN Transport for Radiation Analysis with Unstructured Meshes) code performs multi-group neutron-gamma coupled transport calculation using tetrahedral meshes. In particular, this work presents the recent implementation and its test results of the Krylov subspace methods (i.e., Bi-CGSTAB and GMRES(m)) with preconditioners using DSA (Diffusion Synthetic Acceleration) and TSA (Transport Synthetic Acceleration). In addition, the Krylov subspace methods for accelerating the energy-group coupling iteration through thermal up-scatterings are implemented with new multi-group block DSA and TSA preconditioners in STRAUM.
In this paper, divide total workspace of robot manipulator into several subspaces and construct PID controller ineach subspace. Using EvolutionSTrategy we optimize the gains of PID controller in each subspace. But the gains may have a large difference on the boundary of subspaces, which can cause bad oscillatory performance. So we use Aritificial Neural Network to have continuous gain curves htrough the entire subspaces. Simualtion results show that the proposed method is quite useful.
Our final purpose may be to introduce generalized differential forms on the space Map(S, M) of mappings from a manifold S into a manifold M and discuss the differential geometry of the space Map(S, M) from the point of the generalized forms. Here we take a subspace X of the space Map(S,M) and we introduce the generalized differential forms on X, taking the dual to the chain space with the flat norm. This method of construction allows us to discuss a sufficient condition for a subspace Y of X to admit the generalized differential forms and the natural integration as the dual operation.
