Computation of the inviscid drift force caused by nonlinear waves on a submerged circular cylinder

  • In this paper, we focused on computing the higher-harmonic components of the transmitted wave passing over a submerged circular cylinder to show that it is causing a horizontal negative drift force. As numerical models, a circular cylinder held fixed under free surface in deep water is adopted. As the submergence of a circular cylinder decreases and the incident wavelength becomes longer, the higher-harmonic components of the transmitted wave starts to increase. An increase of the higher-harmonic components of the transmitted wave makes the horizontal drift force be negative. It is also found that the higher-harmonic amplitudes averaged over the transmitted wave region become larger with the increase of wave steepness and wavelength as well as the decrease of submergence depth.

잠제의 전달율과 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on transmission and stability of submerged breakwater)

  • As the 2-D hydraulic experimental results for the submerged rubble-mound structure, we have concerned with their stability/function characteristics of structures by the effects of wave force, scour/deposition at the toe and wave transmission ratio at the lee-side sea. And as to investigate the variation characteristics of wave transmission ratio which depended to a geometrical structure of the submerged breakwater profiles, the critical conditions for the depth of submergence and crest width obviously presented. In summary, there results lead us to the conclusions that the wave control capabilities of submerged breakwaters by the variation of the submergence depth is high about 4 time degrees at the efficiency than the that of crest width. The destruction of covering block at the crest generated at the region which located between maximum damage curve, it maximum damage/failure station from the toe of the structure were 0.2L. As the wave transmission coefficient and the slope of the structure increase, the damage/failure ratio and the maximum scour depth at the toe was extended, respectively. When maximum scour depth happened. The destruction of covering block which located at the toe generated at the front slope destruction. Finally, it was found from the results that the optimization of structure may be obtained by the efficiently decision of the submergence depth and crest width in the permissible range of wave transmission ratio.

공기부양 펌프의 관직경과 잠수비 변화에 따른 기포 형상과 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Performance and Bubble Pattern of Air-Lift Pumps with Various Tube Diameters and Submergence Ratios)

  • 공기부양 펌프는 액체 내 공기부양 효과에 의해 양수 조작이 어려운 액체 및 액체 내의 침전물을 손상 없이 토출할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 장점을 이용하여 DCFC(Direct Carbon Fuel Cell)에서 고온의 용융된 연료를 혼합 및 순환시키기 위해 공기부양 펌프를 적용할 수 있다. 이를 위한 연구의 일환으로 공기부양 특성을 파악하기 위한 기초 실험을 수행하였다. 본 실험에서는 공기부양 펌프 시스템을 구축하여 저수통 내에 모사 액체로 물을 채우고 관(tube)을 삽입한 후, 관 하단부에 가스유량을 공급하여 상단부의 토출유량을 측정하였다. 설계 인자로서 관직경과 잠수비를 변경하면서 이에 맞는 공기유량을 공급하였고, 정해진 각 조건에서 생성된 관 내부의 기포(bubble) 형상을 디지털 카메라로 촬영, 그 형상을 네 단계로 구분하였다. 펌프의 성능을 이론식을 모델링하여 실험 데이터와 비교하였고, 토출 유량을 측정하여 물이 토출되는 시작점인 가스유량과 전체 유량비와의 상관관계를 분석하였다.

2차원 초공동 유동의 중력과 자유표면 효과에 대한 수치해석 (A Numerical Analysis of Gravity and Free Surface Effects on a Two-Dimensional Supercavitating Flow)

  • The effects of the gravity field and the free surface on the cavity shape and the drag are investigated through a numerical analysis for the steady supercavitating flow past a simple two-dimensional body underneath the free surface. The continuity and the RANS equations are numerically solved for an incompressible fluid using a $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulence model and a mixture fluid model has been applied for calculating the multiphase flow of air, water and vapor using the method of volume of fluid and the Schnerr-Sauer cavitation model. Numerical solutions have been obtained for the supercavitating flow about a two-dimensional $30^{\circ}$ wedge in wide range of depths of submergence and inflow velocities. The results are presented for the cavity shape, especially the length and the width, and the drag of the wedge in comparison with those of the case for the infinite fluid flow neglecting the gravity and the free surface. The influences of the gravity field and the free surface on the aforementioned quantities are discussed. The length and the width of the supercavity are reduced and the centerline of the cavity rises toward the free surface due to the effects of the gravity field and the free surface. The drag coefficient of the wedge, however, is about the same except for shallow depths of submergence. As the supercavitating wedge is approaching very close to the free surface, it is found the length and the width of a cavity are shorten even though the cavitation number is reduced. Also the present result suggests that, under the influence of the gravity field and the free surface, the length of the supercavity for a certain cavitation number varies and moreover is proportional to the inverse of the submergence depth Froude number.

자유수면 아래서 유한 Froude 수로 전진하는 2차원 수중익의 부분 및 초월 공동 유동 문제 해석 (Application of a Potential-Based Panel Method for Analysis of a 2-Dimensional Cavitating Hydrofoils Advancing Beneath a Free-Surface)

  • 자유수면하에서 유한한 속도로 진행하는 2차원 수중익 주위에 발생하는 부분 및 초월 공동문제를 포텐셜을 기저로 하는 양력판 이론에 의해 해석하였다. 2차원 수중익 주위에 선형화된 자유표면 조건, 방사조건 및 무한수심 경계조건을 만족하는 법선 다이폴과 쏘오스를 분포함으로써 양력 및 캐비티 문제를 표현하였다. 수중익 표면에서의 역학적 경계조건은 수중익 내부의 전유동이 0이라는 조건으로 등치 되었고, 캐비티 표면에서의 역학적 경계조건인 압력이 일정 하다는 조건을 만족 시키기 위해 Bernoulli 방정식에 나타나는 정수압을 고려하였다. 계산결과로부터 공동 발생으로 인해 수중익 주위의 파형이 많이 변화함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 지금까지의 공동현상 해석문제에서 무시되었던 정수압의 영향이 자유수면 아래에서 발생하는 초월공동현상에 중요한 역할을 하고 있음이 확인되었다. 즉 수중익의 몰수깊이가 작을 때는 중력의 영향으로 캐비티의 크기가 커지게 되나 깊이 잠김에 따라 감소되고 있으며 양력은 몰수깊이가 커짐에 따라 감소하는 것 알 수 있었다.

파낭에 의한 해수면의 변화가 해양구조물의 동적거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Free Surface Fluctuation on the Response of Submerged Structure)

  • 1차 자유도를 갖는 해양구조물을 선정하여 long crested, stationary, Gaussian random waves가 구조물의 동적응답 스펙트럼에 미치는 영향에 대해 규명하였다. 해수면 부근에서 주기적으로 수면위로 부상하는 연직부재를 고려하기 위해 hybrid Morison equation을 제안했고 이 방정식을 기초로 파력을 계산했다. 주기적으로 수면위로 부상하는 효과를 고려한 결과 동적응답 스펙트럼은 감소하였으며 고차 응당성분이 발생했다. 또한 동적응답 스펙트럼은 주파수가 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 이는 해수면 위로 주기적으로 부상하는 현상을 고려할 때 발생하는 고차응답성분 때문인 것으로 사료된다.

Modeling the long-term vegetation dynamics of a backbarrier salt marsh in the Danish Wadden Sea

  • Background: Over the past three decades, gradual eustatic sea-level rise has been considered a primary exogenous factor in the increased frequency of flooding and biological changes in several salt marshes. Under this paradigm, the potential importance of short-term events, such as ocean storminess, in coastal hydrology and ecology is underrepresented in the literature. In this study, a simulation was developed to evaluate the influence of wind waves driven by atmospheric oscillations on sedimentary and vegetation dynamics at the Skallingen salt marsh in southwestern Denmark. The model was built based on long-term data of mean sea level, sediment accretion, and plant species composition collected at the Skallingen salt marsh from 1933-2006. In the model, the submergence frequency (number yr-1) was estimated as a combined function of wind-driven high water level (HWL) events (> 80 cm Danish Ordnance Datum) affected by the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and changes in surface elevation (cm yr-1). Vegetation dynamics were represented as transitions between successional stages controlled by flooding effects. Two types of simulations were performed: (1) baseline modeling, which assumed no effect of wind-driven sea-level change, and (2) experimental modeling, which considered both normal tidal activity and wind-driven sea-level change. Results: Experimental modeling successfully represented the patterns of vegetation change observed in the field. It realistically simulated a retarded or retrogressive successional state dominated by early- to mid-successional species, despite a continuous increase in surface elevation at Skallingen. This situation is believed to be caused by an increase in extreme HWL events that cannot occur without meteorological ocean storms. In contrast, baseline modeling showed progressive succession towards the predominance of late-successional species, which was not the then-current state in the marsh. Conclusions: These findings support the hypothesis that variations in the NAO index toward its positive phase have increased storminess and wind tides on the North Sea surface (especially since the 1980s). This led to an increased frequency and duration of submergence and delayed ecological succession. Researchers should therefore employ a multitemporal perspective, recognizing the importance of short-term sea-level changes nested within long-term gradual trends.

담수처리(湛水處理)가 토양(土壤)의 인산(燐酸) 흡착(吸着) 특성(特性)에 미치는 영향(影響) I. 최대(最大) 흡착량(吸着量), 흡착(吸着) 평형상수(平衡常數) 및 흡착열(吸着熱)의 변화(變化) (The Effect of Submergence on Phosphorus Adsorption Charcteristics in Soils I. Changes of Adsorption Maximum, Adsorption Equilibrium Constant and Heat of Adsorption)

  • 담수처리(湛水處理)에 의한 토양(土壤)의 환원(還元)이 토양(土壤)의 인산(燐酸) 흡착특성(吸着特性)에 어떠한 영향(影響)을 미치는지를 검토(檢討)하기 위하여 논으로 이용(利用)되어온 강서통(江西統), 밭으로 이용(利用)되어온 중동통(中東統), 및 미경작지(未耕作地)인 예산통(禮山統)을 공시토양(供試土壤)으로 하여 담수처리(湛水處理)후 인산(燐酸) 흡착(吸着) 실험(實驗)을 실시(實施) 하였다. 흡착(吸着) 실험(實驗)의 온도(溫度)는 $5{\sim}45^{\circ}C$이었으며, Langmuir 등온흡착식(等溫吸着式)과 van't Hoff식(式)을 이용(利用)하여 인산(燐酸) 최대(最大) 흡착량(吸着量)과 흡착평형상수(吸着平衡常數) 및 흡착열(吸着熱)을 구하였다. 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 흡착온도(吸着溫度)의 증가(增加)는 인산(燐酸)의 흡착량(吸着量)을 증가(增加) 시켰으나, 흡착(吸着) 평형(平衡)에 도달(到達)하는 속도(速度)에는 거의 영향(影響)을 미치지 못하였다. 3시간(時間)의 진탕으로 24시간후(時間後) 흡착량(吸着量)의 80~90%가 흡착(吸着)되었으며, 12시간후(時間後)에는 흡착량(吸着量)의 변화가 없었다. 2. 인산(燐酸) 최대(最大) 흡착량(吸着量)은 담수처리(湛水處理)에 의하여 강서통(江西統)은 500mgP/kg에서 850mgP/kg으로, 예산통(禮山統)은 1,850mgP/kg에서 3,300mgP/kg으로, 중동통(中東統)은 310mgP/kg에서 670mgP/kg으로 증가(增加)하였으며, 최대(最大) 흡착량(吸着量)에 대한 온도(溫度)의 효과(效果)는 거의 없었다. 3. 흡착(吸着) 평형상수(平衡常數)는 담수처리(湛水處理)에 의하여 강서통(江西統)과 예산통(禮山統)에서는 감소(減少)하였으나, 중동통(中東統)에서는 증가(增加)하였으며, 흡착온도(吸着溫度)에 따라서는 세 토양(土壤)의 값이 모두 증가(增加)하였다. 특히 점토(粘土)의 함량(含量)이 높고 토양중(土壤中) Bray 1-P의 함량(含量)이 낮은 예산통(禮山統)이 큰 값을 나타내었다. 4. Langmuir식(式)의 평형상수(平衡常數)값을 사용(使用)하여 계산(計算)한 흡착열(吸着熱)은 담수처리(湛水處理)에 의하여 강서통(江西統)은, 2.2kcal/mole에서 3.5kcal/mole로 증가(增加)하였으며, 예산통(禮山統)은 5.7kcal/mole에서 5.5kcal/mole로 거의 일정(一定)하였다. 담수(湛水)시킨 중동통(中東統)의 흡착열(吸着熱)은 4.4kcal/mole이었다.
