The purpose of the study is to develop an integrated knowledge structuring system for the domain of engineering, in which ontology-based literature mining, knowledge acquisition, knowledge integration, and knowledge retrieval are combined using XML-based tag information and ontology management. The system supports combining different types of databases (papers and patents, technologies and innovations) and retrieving different types of knowledge simultaneously. The main objective of the system is to facilitate knowledge acquisition and knowledge retrieval from documents through an ontology-based dynamic similarity calculation and a visualization of automatically structured knowledge. Through experimentations we conducted using 100,000 words economic documents reported in the "Go！ Japan" project for analyzing Japanese industrial situation, and 100,000 words molecular biology Papers, we show the system is Practical enough for accelerating knowledge acquisition and knowledge discovery from the information sea.

We will introduce a new web-based knowledge management system in progress, in which XML-based web information extraction and our structuring knowledge technologies are combined using ontology-based natural language processing. Our aim is to provide efficient access to heterogeneous information on the web, enabling users to use a wide range of textual and non textual resources, such as newspapers and databases, effortlessly to accelerate knowledge acquisition from such knowledge sources. In order to achieve the efficient knowledge management, we propose at first an XML-based Web information extraction which contains a sophisticated control language to extract data from Web pages. With using standard XML Technologies in the system, our approach can make extracting information easy because of a) detaching rules from processing, b) restricting target for processing, c) Interactive operations for developing extracting rules. Then we propose a structuring knowledge system which includes, 1) automatic term recognition, 2) domain oriented automatic term clustering, 3) similarity-based document retrieval, 4) real-time document clustering, and 5) visualization. The system supports integrating different types of databases (textual and non textual) and retrieving different types of information simultaneously. Through further explanation to the specification and the implementation technique of the system, we will demonstrate how the system can accelerate knowledge acquisition on the Web even for novice users of the field.

We designed a knowledge-based decision support system for structuring semi-or unstructured problems. Problem structuring involves extraction of the relevant factors from the identified problem, and model construction that represents the relationships among those factors. In this research, we employed a directed graph called Influence Deiagram as a tool for problem structuring. In particular, our proposed system is designed as a shell. Therefore, a decision maker can change the content of the knowledge base to suit his/her own interested domain.

Implementation issue of the system is also mentioned.

지식집약조직의 달성과 유지를 위한 정보기술의 활용에 대한 대안으로, 의사결정지원시스템(DSS： Decision Support System)의 활용 방안을 제시하였다. 의사결정과정의 구조화를 통해 집단의사결정을 지원하는 것이므로 집단 구성원들의 의사결정 과정에 대한 암묵적인 지식을 공유하고 이를 구조화, 종합화하여 명시적인 지식으로 변환할 수 있어야만 한다. 현재까지 조직에 구축된 KMS에 적용되지 못하고 있는 지식관리 기반기술을 DSS를 통해 활용할 수 있음도 파악할 수 있다. 즉, Share, Synthesize, Solve의 기능을 제공하는 정보기술을 활용한 KMS의 활용 사례를 찾기 어려우나, 이와 같은 기술들을 DSS에 적용함으로써 지식 집약적인 조직의 달성과 유지를 위해 DSS를 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

In structural design procedure, The procedure of member selection manages complex data relationship and reflects structural expert's knowledge. It is a difficult problem to construct an effective system with the conventional l programming technique. Knowledge_based s!'stem is a software system capable of supporting the explicit representation of expert's knowledge in member selection process through member data and reasoning mechanisms. This study describes useful methodology for structuring knowledge and representing relation between member data and knowledge. And this study shows the application of this member for member selection in the steel structural design.

Faced with increasing competitive pressures to reduce time-to-market, many business organizations have recognized that shortening the design cycle by taking full advantage of their intellectual property is inevitable in maintaining their market share. This paper describes a knowledge management system for machine tool design. Product structuring, change management, and complex design knowledge management are possible through the developed system. The system can speed up the design process by making necessary data instantly available as it is needed and keeping track of all the relevant design information and knowledge including individual decisions, design intentions, documents, and drawings.

A dynamic-structure system is one that has the flexibility to change the system configuration automatically so as to operate in an optimal manner. A conceptural model for a dynamic-structure system is presented in this paper. In this model, the interchangeable components of the overall system are grouped together. Their activity levels are evaluated by an intelligent preprocessor that is associated with the group. A knowledge-based task distribution system evaluates the activity levels and makes decisions as to how the components operating below capacity should be shared with workcells that have similar components that are overloaded. Associated decision making can be effected through fuzzy logic and particularly the compositional rule of inference. A simulation example is given to illustrate the application of dynamic structuring.

This article aims to describe the institutional structuring strategy of independent smallholders in accelerating sustainable economic development, by taking the example of the cow-coconut integration system (SISKA) problem in Sialang Palas Village, Riau. The method used identified stakeholders related to SISKA; the stakeholder's goals and interests, farmers' social and institutional bases, and self-help farmer socio-economic networks. First, identification of various factors through strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis techniques. Second, through the Modern Political Economy analysis technique. Third, imparting knowledge and skills to the farmers and village officials through a collective learning process in utilizing natural resource waste and social resources. The results showed that the farmer management strategy in the reform era started by clustering the interests of farmers. The dynamics of structuring group relations between the chairman and members with farmers outside the group are the basis for strengthening the local ideology of independence in the future. This institutional structuring strategy that focuses on access to farm power in the village decision-making process encourages a more integrated work of farmer organizations. The analysis above shows that the independent smallholder institutional engineering through regulation, organization, and resources are determined by the farmer household economic factors and the application of the value of local wisdom.

Though it has been recognized that the accumulation of technological knowledge has been the core competency to reinforce the competitiveness of individual firms and to raise the innovation capability of social and economic systems, only single or fragmentary variables, such as R&D expenditure, R&D stock, the number of researchers and the number of R&D employee have been adopted to measure the amount of technological knowledge. In this research, we use nine conventional technological knowledge measures under the conceptual structure of input-output framework to technological knowledge. Applying correlation and factor analysis, we examine the relationships among the nine proxy measures quantitatively and suggest the new approach for the calculation of technological knowledge index as a aggregated measure.
