International comparative studies of students' performance in mathematics have shown that Korean students possess very negative attitudes toward mathematics, while they are ranked as one of the highest in the cognitive achievement of mathematics. This has prompted mathematics educators to seek for a way to improve the quality of mathematics education. In this context, this research has been conducted to investigate the learning style of Korean middle school students under the assumption that it is of essence to understand the characteristics of our students as mathematics learners. For the purpose, in-depth interview had been conducted and sixteen middle students participated in the interview. The students were chosen to represent the average group of their age-cohorts based on their performance in mathematics and their SES. The interview was designed as a semi-structured clinical interview. In the interview, the students were given mathematical tasks dealing with central themes in the domain of function. Each student was given about 30 to 50 minutes to solve the tasks. After an interviewee finished the tasks, s/he was asked to explained how s/he solved the tasks. The researchers asked additional questions to clarify the students' understanding of the mathematical themes in the tasks and to identify their strategies for learning mathematics. The analysis of the in-depth interview has primarily identified the characteristics of the students' understanding of the main themes in function and then has been extended to investigate their characteristic styles for learning mathematics. The analysis of the interview identified the learning styles of the students as 'inductive learning based on prototypical cases', 'repeated practice of exemplar mathematics problems', 'disengaged learning', and 'double standards in learning mathematics'. Based on the results of the analysis, this research presents the implications for the improvement of mathematics education.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting suicidal ideation, and suggest the implications for suicide prevention policy among college students based on that analysis. Empirical model including the affecting factors, such as college life stress, stress coping type, self-esteem, and maladjustment perfectionism, was developed based on the previous studies. The data were collected from 350 college students at Busan Metropolitan City areas using a self-administered structured questionnaire. The major results of this study are as follows. First, suicidal ideation was significantly lower among students with higher campus life satisfaction. Second, significant positive affecting factors on suicidal ideation were maladjustment perfectionism, interpersonal stress, boys, emotion-oriented coping type, whereas, negative factors were self-esteem. Among the significant affecting factors, self-esteem had the greatest influence. These results suggest that measures improving college life satisfaction and education and training programs for improving human relation skills and stress-coping types, mitigating maladjustment perfectionism, and enhancing self-esteem should be explored and executed properly.
Data stored in hospital information systems has a great potential to improve adequacy assessment and quality management. Moreover, an establishment of a data warehouse has been known to improve quality management and to offer help to clinicians. This study constructed a data mart that can be used to analyze antibiotic usage as a part of systematic and effective data analysis of infection control information. Metadata was designed by using the XML DTD method after selecting components and evaluation measures for infection control. OLAP-a multidimensional analysis tool-for antibiotic usage analysis was developed by building a data mart through modeling. Experimental data were obtained from data on antibiotic usage at a university hospital in Cheonan area for one month in July of 1997. The major components of infection control metadata were antibiotic resistance information, antibiotic usage information, infection information, laboratory test information, patient information, and infection related costs. Among them, a data mart was constructed by designing a database to apply antibiotic usage information to a star schema. In addition, OLAP was demonstrated by calculating the statistics of antibiotic usage for one month. This study reports the development of a data mart on antibiotic usage for infection control through the implementation of XML and OLAP techniques. Building a conceptual, structured data mart would allow for a rapid delivery and diverse analysis of infection control information.
The purpose of the study was to simplify standard HACCP manual for improving the on-site applicability and increasing the implementation rate of HACCP program for small- and medium-sized dairy farms (SMDF). A survey was carried out in 32 SMDFs using a structured questionnaire. The results indicated that the number of workers had a positive correlation with HACCP certifications (p < 0.05). Most of HACCP non-certified farms (66.7%) were run by two workers with 40-60 cows and milking yields of 1,000-1,500 L per day. Major drawbacks for dairy farmers to implement current HACCP system were the difficulties in daily recording and facility management (40%). On the basis of the survey results, it was suggested that the development of on-site standard HACCP manual and user-friendly record chart with O/X checklist were the most urgent factors to increase HACCP implementation rate. In addition, the alternative third party service for microbial and chemical tests could also be accompanied for small-sized dairy farms.
This study focused on the decomposition of toluene in a plasma-photocatalytic hybrid system. Hexagonally packed meso-structured Mn-titanosilicates (Mn-Ti-MCM-41), as the photocatalysts, have been prepared by the hydrothermal method. The physical properties of the photocatalysts were characterized using XRD, XPS, TEM, BET/ICP, and $NH_3$/Toluene-TPD. Experiments were carried out at the applied voltage of 9.0 kV and at room temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. In the plasma only system, the activity of the toluene decomposition was higher than that in the photocatalytic system. However, the amount of by-products, such as phenol, $C_2{\sim}C_4$ alkene, was also increased in the plasma only system. However, the by-products decreased remarkably in a plasma-photocatalytic hybrid system. When Mn5mol%-Ti-MCM-41 was used as a photocatalyst in a plasma-photocatalytic hybrid system, the $CO_2$ selectivity in products was increased dramatically compared to other catalysts. It was confirmed that a plasma-photocatalytic hybrid system was better for toluene decomposition compared to photocatalytic and plasma only systems.

This study was conducted to identify the degree and correlation among clinical nurses' interpersonal problems, emotional labor and professional self-concept and to examine the effects of interpersonal problems and emotional labor on professional self-concept. Data were collected through a self reported structured questionnaire of 150 clinical nurses using convenient sampling methods from August 2, 2016 to August 30, 2016. The mean score of interpersonal problems was 2.57 and the score of moving toward people was the highest. The mean score of emotional labor was 3.50 and the score of emotional expression frequency was highest. The mean score of professional self-concept was 2.54 and the score of communication was highest. Interpersonal problems were positively correlated with emotional labor(r=0.392, p<0.001), while professional self-concept was negatively correlated with interpersonal problems(r=-0.452, p<0.001) and emotional labor(r=-0.376, p<0.001). Stepwise regression showed that interpersonal problems had the greatest effect on professional self-concept(${\beta}=-0.377$, p<0.001), followed by $Age(yr){\geq}40$, Age(yr)>$30{\leq}40$, education level and emotional labor. These variables together explained 44% of the professional self-concept among clinical nurses(F=24.38, p<0.001). In conclusion, strategies for reducing interpersonal problems and emotional labor should be developed to improve professional self-concept of clinical nurses.

This study examined the relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics, health related factors, physical functions (ADL, IADL), mental functions (CES-D, MMSE-K), oral health impact profile (OHIP-14), and the quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF) for the elderly in long-term care facilities. The research was conducted in 602 facility allowance beneficiaries authorized to be eligible for long-term care in long-term care facilities through personal interviews using a structured questionnaire from May 1 to June 30, 2016. As a result, the quality of life was lower among females than males in the group receiving government subsidies than the group whose livelihood was maintained by themselves or their children, in the group with a longer period of care, in the drinking group than the non-drinking group, in the group with irregular exercise than the regular exercise, in the group with irregular meals than regular meals, in the group with poor subjective health conditions than good subjective health condition, in the group with a smaller number of daily toothbrushing, in the group with xerostomia than no xerostomia, in the group with a lower OHIP-14, in the group with a lower ADL and IADL, and in the group with a lower CES-D and MMSE-K. In particular, the quality of life was affected more by health-related factors and CES-D and MMSE-K than by other factors. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to prevent depression and cognitive impairment, including health-related behavior, with the objective of improving the quality of life for the elderly in long-term care facilities.

The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model for college student's gambling behavior. A structured questionnaire was completed by 246 college students to analyze the relationships between perspective factors(irrational gambling belief), psychological factors(depression, anxiety), social factors(parental monitoring, parental support, friend support), self-control and gambling behavior. The moderating effects of gender, friends and family's gambling behaviors were examined. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21,0 and AMOS 20.0 programs. Self-control and psychological factors directly affected the college student's gambling behavior, while perspective factors and social factors affected it indirectly. The model fit indices of the modified model were suitable for the recommended levels. The overall study findings suggest the need to develop a gambling prevention program for college students that reinforces self-control, parental monitoring and support, and friend support while reducing irrational gambling belief, depression, and anxiety. An approach that considers gender and a development of a group counseling program for family or friends are also required.

The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of verbal violence experienced during clinical practice, emotional responses, academic stress coping, and depression on professional self-concepts of nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported structured questionnaire form given to nursing students in grades 3-4 using convenient sampling methods from October 25 to November 1, 2017. As a result, 41.9% of the subjects experienced verbal violence during clinical practice. The frequency of experiences for verbal violence was '1 time' at 16.9%, '2 times' at 15.5%, and '3 times' at 4.7%. The verbal violence attackers were patients (42.9%), nurses (37.7%), and protector (15.5%). Emotional response was positively correlated with depression and frequency of verbal violence. Academic stress coping had a negative correlation with depression and a positive correlation with professional self-concept. Depression was negatively correlated with professional self-concept. Multiple regression analysis showed that academic stress coping and depression were statistically significant variables in the professional self-concept, and these variables had a 28% explanatory power. Therefore, in order to improve the professional self-concept of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a strategy to raise the level of academic stress coping and to reduce depression.

This study was conducted to clarify the mediating effects of self-efficacy and organizational commitment on the level of depression associated with emotional labor and occupational stress of call center representatives. The survey subjects were 486 representatives working in four call centers in D city. Data collection was conducted using structured, self-addressed questionnaires from January 5th to 25th, 2017. The results showed that the depression level of the representatives was significantly higher in the emotional labor and occupational stress groups and higher in the low self-efficacy and organizational commitment groups. The correlations between variables revealed a positive correlation between depression, emotional labor, and occupational stress, but a negative correlation between self-efficacy and organizational commitment. Path model analysis revealed that emotional labor and occupational stress had positive effects on depression, while self-efficacy and organizational commitment was negatively influenced. In addition, self-efficacy and organizational commitment had a mediating effect on emotional labor and depression, while organizational commitment had a mediating effect on occupational stress and depression. Therefore, to reduce the depression level of call center representatives, it is necessary to reduce the emotional labor and occupational stress factors, as well as to have a mental health mediation plan to increase self-efficacy and organizational commitment.
