  • LHR(Landfill Site Hazard Ranking Model) was developed for ranking the relative hazard of landfill sites by using the method of value-structured approach. LHR consists of combining a multiattribute decision-making method with a Qualitative risk assessment approach. A pairwise com parisian method was applied to determine weights of landfill site factors related. To determine the hazard of landfill site, hydrogeological factors, waste characteristics factors and receptors factors were evaluated by LHR. LHR can help decision-makers prioritization of remediation of landfill sites through the relatively convenient and concise evaluation method of landfill site features related. LHR focuses mainly on pathways of groundwater and surfacewater for evaluating landfill hazard to receptors including humans. To validiate the applicability of LHR, Nanjido Landfill site, Metropolitan Landfill site, and Hwasung Landfill site were evaluated.

  • To reduce the content of undesirable erucic acid in mustard oil (MO), it was enzymatically modified with capric acid using immobilized lipase TL IM to produce structured lipid (SL). After reaction, the content of erucic acid was reduced up to 21.7% under the performed reactions in this study. Meanwhile, unsaturated fatty acids existing at sn-2 position (oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid) in MO were not much changed.

  • In this study, we investigated surface characteristics of hydroxyapatite coated surface on nano/micro pore structured Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys. This paper was focus on morphology and corrosion resistance of Anodic oxidation. To prepare the samples, Ti-35Ta-xNb (x= 0, 10 wt. %) alloys were manufactured by arc melting and heat-treated for 12 h at $1050^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere at $0^{\circ}C$ water quenching. Micro-pore structured surface was performed using anodization with a DC power supply at 280 V for 3 min, nanotube formed on Ti-35Ta-xNb alloys was performed using DC power supply at 30 V in 60 min at room temperature. Surface morphology and structure were examined by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

  • Alignment pattern of checkerboard was constructed by the stylus of atomic force microscope. Orientational bistability of the nematic liquid crystal was realized on that frustrated surface alignment. Macroscopic orientational switching between two perpendicular directions took place by an appropriate in-plane electric field. The threshold electric fields decreased in both switching directions as temperature increased. The focused laser heated up only the limited domains in the cell including a light-absorbing medium. Irradiating the laser concurrently with an appropriate electric field, we switched the selected unit domains in the alignment pattern. The switched domains maintained stably the switched direction without the disturbance from the exterior. Extending and repeating this process, we realized extremely fine devices of bistable switching.

  • The hierarchical-structured $LiFePO_4$ cathode materials were synthesized by one-step microwave synthesis, and their electrochemical properties were investigated. Addition of citric acid during the reaction lead to the formation of hierarchical structured $LiFePO_4$, which has both nano- and micron-characteristics advantageous for energy density and electrode fabrication. Adjusting the molar ratio of Fe to citric acid enhanced the electrochemical properties of $LiFePO_4$.

  • Many sensors such as a structured grid pattern generator, a laser, and CCD camera to information have been used, but most of algorithms for a calibration are inefficient memory and experiment data are required. In this paper, the calibration algorithm of a structured grid pattern based on triang is introduced to calculate 3D information in the real world. The beams generated from str pattern generator established horizontally with the CCD camera are projected on the calibn CCD camera observes the intersection plane of a light and an object plane. The 3D infon calculated using observed and calibration data. This proposed method in this paper has advantages such as a memory saving and an experimental data since the 3D information are obtained simply triangulation method.

  • This integrative review of research on the role of toys in the pretend play of young children investigated claims about the relative effects of abstract or unrealistic compared with concrete or realistic toys. Researchers and educators acknowledge the benefits of pretend play as an expression of the child's capacity of symbolic functioning and they attend to strategies for promoting pretend play at each stage of its development, including the selection and presentation of playthings. Highly structured or realistic toys were once thought to impede pretend play because they can only be used for a single intended purpose whereas less structured toys are pliant and hold the child's interest over longer periods of time as new ideas are tried out. However, the present review suggests that realistic toys are effective for very young children who still have limited representational capacity, and that realistic toys continue to give impetus to make-believe even for kindergarten children.

  • In this study, a multi-block structured grid deformation code based on a hybrid of a transfinite interpolation algorithm and spring analogy was developed. The configuration was modeled by a Bezier surface. A combination of the spring analogy for block vertices and the transfinite interpolation for interior grid points helps to increase the robustness and makes it suitable for distributed computing. An elliptic smoothing operator was applied to the block faces with sub-faces in order to maintain the grid smoothness and skewness. The capability of this code was demonstrated on a range of simple and complex configurations including an airfoil and a wing-body configuration.

  • This paper is focused on a robust saturation controller for the stable linear time-invariant (LTI) system involving both actuator's saturation and structured real parameter uncertainties. Based on affine quadratic stability and multi-convexity concept, a robust saturation controller is newly proposed and the linear matrix inequality (LMI)-based sufficient existence conditions for this controller are presented. The controller suggested in this paper can analytically prescribe the lower and upper bounds of parameter uncertainties, and guarantee the closed-loop robust stability of the system in the presence of actuator's saturation. Through numerical simulations, it is confirmed that the proposed robust saturation controller is robustly stable with respect to parameter uncertainties over the prescribed range defined by the lower and upper bounds.

  • Nano-structured tungsten carbide compacts with cobalt matrices (WC-Co) offer new opportunities for achieving superior hardness and toughness combinations. A unified modeling and simulation tool has been developed to produce maps of sintering pathways from nanocrystalline WC powder to sintered nano-structured WC-Co compacts. This tool includes (1) die compaction, (2) grain growth, (3) densification, (4) sensitivity analysis, and (5) optimization. All material parameters were obtained by curve fitting based on results with two WC-Co powders. Critical processing parameters are determined based on sensitivity analysis and are optimized to minimize grain size with high density.
