As the structure is taller and its member is larger, the effect of the deformation of Panel zone on the displacement of structure becomes larger. The analysis using the centerline dimensions in the steel moment frame structure can not consider the accurate effect of panel ton And the finite element analysis using infinitesimal solid and shell element is impractical for the total tall building structure. Therefore, this paper proposes the analytical model using linear element in order to be able to evaluate the reasonable deformation of panel zone. the proposed analytical model makes the analysis of the building structure simple and ease because it uses the only linear elements. In addition it can easily incorporate the various parameters affecting the deformation of panel zone. In order to prove the validith of the prosed analytical model, the analysis result using the proposed analytical model is compared with the result using finite element analysis with shell element
In this paper, design and analysis of anchorage zone in prestressed concrete structure using nonlinear strut and tie model is presented. Nonlinear strut and tie model is an analysis and design model which constructs strut and tie model based on nonlinear analysis considering the nonlinear behavior of concrete. Based on the nonlinear strut and tie model, the analysis and design are performed for the anchorage zone having singular concentric tendons, singular eccentric tendons and multiple tendons, respectively. For verification of the model, comparisons are made with experimental results as well as results by linear strut and tie models. from the comparisons, it is shown that the design of the anchorage zone by the nonlinear model is still economical without loosing the degree of safety and the prediction of the ultimate load by the nonlinear model gives better accuracy than by the linear one.
The structure zone model has been used to provide an overview of the relationship between the microstructure of the films deposited by PVD and the most prominent deposition condition.s. B.AMovchan and AV.Demchishin have proposed it firstls such model. They concluded that the general features of the resulting structures could be correlated into three zones depending on $T/T_m$. Here T m is the melting point of the coating material and T is the substrate temperature in kelvines. Zone 1 ($T/Tm_) is dominated by tapered macrograins with domed tops, zone 2 ($O.3) by columnar grains with denser boundaries and zone 3 ($T/T_m>O.5$) by equiaxed grains formed by recrystallization. J.AThomton has extended this model to include the effect of the sputtering gas pressure and found a fourth zone termed zone T(transition zone) consisting of a dense array of poorly defined fibrous grains. R.Messier found that the zone I-T boundary (fourth zone of Thorton) varies in a fashion similar to the film bias potential as a function of gas pressure. However, there has not nearly enough model for explaining the change in morphology with crystal orientation of the films. The structure zone model only provide an information about the morphology of the deposited film. In general, the nucleation and growth mechanism for granular and fine structure of the deposited films are very complex in an PVD technique because the morphology and orientation depend not only on the substrate temperature but also on the energy of deposition of the atoms or ions, the kinetic mechanism between metal atoms and argon or nitrogen gas, and even on the presence of impurities. In order to clarify these relationship, AI and Mg thin films were prepared on SPCC steel substrates by PVD techniques. The influence of gas pressures and bias voltages on their crystal orientation and morphology of the prepared films were investigated by SEM and XRD, respectively. And the effect of crystal orientation and morphology of the prepared films on corrosion resistance was estimated by measuring polarization curves in 3% NaCI solution.
This thesis is a study on behavior for anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam using strut-tie model. Stress conditions of Anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam are very disturbed because large concentrated forces act on relatively small areas. Hence, anchorage zone must be considered in Design of prestressed double T beam. If irrational design or irrational construction be conducted, that may lose stability in capacity as structure. In current design practice, certain parts of structure are designed with extreme accuracy, while anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam is designed using common sense, and experience. Therefore, it is generally very conservative. For that reason, logical, reasonable concept and accuracies are desired at design of anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam. Strut-tie method satisfies those desires. In this thesis, anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam is analyzed by considering prestressing forces. Strut-tie model is constructed based on principle stress trajectory obtained from 3D-finite element analysis in anchorage zone, and amounts of reinforcement be obtained. Results of analysis are compared with the way used in current design practice, and this thesis presents that strut-tie model can be an economical design than current design methods without losing the degree of safety.
Oxy-fuel flame has a significantly different structure from that of air-fuel flame because of its high temperature. This study is aimed to find out the difference of the oxy-fuel flame structure in order to understand reaction mechanism closely, which is crucial to design real-scale oxy-fuel combustion system. By examining pictures of counterflow flame and LIF images, we found that oxy-fuel flame had two-zone structure: fuel decomposition region and distributed CO oxidation region. In the oxy-fuel flame, OH radical was distributed intensely through the whole flame due to its higher flame temperature than crossover temperature. For showing those features of the oxy-fuel flame, 1 MW scale IFRF oxy-natural gas burner was simulated by conditional moment closure(CMC) model. Calculation results were compared with experimental data, and showed agreements in trend. In the simulated distributions of fuel decomposition/CO oxidation rates, CO oxidation region was also separated from fuel decomposition zone considerably, which showed the two-zone structure in the oxy-fuel flame.

This paper proposes a semi analytical model to describe the pore structure of concrete by a set of simple equations. The relationship between the porosity and the microstructure of concrete has been considered when constructing the analytical model. The microstructure includes the interface transition zone (ITZ) between aggregates and cement paste. The predicting model of porosity was developed with considering the ITZ for various mixing of mortar and concrete. The proposed model is validated by the rapid experimental programs. Although the proposed model is semi-analytical and relatively simple, this model could be reasonably utilized for the durability design and adapted for predicting the service life of concrete structures.
Pile-supported structures are installed on saturated sloping grounds, where the ground stiffness may decrease due to liquefaction during earthquakes. Thus, it is important to consider saturated sloping ground and pile interactions. In this study, we conduct a centrifuge test of a pile-supported structure, and analyze the p-yp loops, p-yp loops provide the correlation between the lateral pile deflection (yp) and lateral soil resistance (p). In the dry sand model (UV67), the p-yp loops stiffness increased as ground depth increased, and the p-yp loops stiffness was larger by approximately three times when the pile moved to the upslope direction, compared with when it moved to the downslope direction. In contrast, no significant difference was observed in the stiffness with the ground depth and pile moving direction in the saturated sand model (SV69). Furthermore, we identify the unstable zone based on the result of the lateral soil resistance (p). In the case of the SV69 model, the maximum depth of the unstable zone is five times larger than that of the dry sand model, and it was found that the saturated sand model was affected significantly by kinematic forces due to slope failure.
Microstructure and electrical properties of $In_2O_3$ transparent thin films are analyzed on the basis of Structure Zone Model (SZM) proposed by Thornton. Thin films are deposited on glass substrate by RF magnetron sputtering with variation of substrate temperature $(T_s)$ and argon gas pressure $(P_{Ar})$. Microstructure of Zone I of SZM is observed with lowering of substrate temperature or increasing of argon pressure. The higher electrical resistivity of those specimens is due to micro-pores or voids between columnar grains. At the conditions of $T_s=450^{\circ}C$ and $P_{Ar}$=4.2mTorr, the Zone II structure of SZM and the lowest electrical resistivity $(2.1{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}cm)$ are observed. The dense structure of columnar grains with faceting on growing surface and preferred orientation of (100) plane are observed in those specimens.
The black box model is a relatively new option for nonlinear dynamic system identification. It can be used for prediction problems just based on analyzing the input and output data without considering the changes of the internal structure. In this paper, a black box model was presented to solve unconstrained overlying strata movement problems in coal mine production. Based on the black box theory, the overlying strata regional system was viewed as a "black box", and the black box model on overburden strata movement was established. Then, the rock mechanical properties and the mining thickness and mined-out section area were selected as the subject and object respectively, and the influences of coal mining on the overburden regional system were discussed. Finally, a corrected method for height prediction of the fractured zone was obtained. According to actual mine geological conditions, the measured geological data were introduced into the black box model of overlying strata movement for height calculation, and the fractured zone height was determined as 40.36 m, which was comparable to the actual height value (43.91 m) of the fractured zone detected by Double-block Leak Hunting in Drill. By comparing the calculation result and actual surface subsidence value, it can be concluded that the proposed model is adaptable for height prediction of the fractured zone.
Consideration of the panel zone (PZ) deformations in the analysis of steel moment frames (SMFs) has a substantial effect on structural response. One way to include the PZ effect on the structural response is Krawinkler's PZ model, which is one of the best and conventional models. However, modeling of Krawinkler's PZ model has its complexity, and finding an alternative procedure for PZ modeling is of interest. In this study, an efficient model is proposed to simplify Krawinkler's PZ model into an Adjusted Rigid-End Zone (AREZ). In this way, the rigid-end-zone dimensions of the beam and column elements are defined through an appropriate rigid-end-zone factor. The dimensions of this region depend on the PZ stiffness, beam(s) and columns' specifications, and connection joint configuration. Thus, to obtain a relationship for the AREZ model, which yields the dimensions of the rigid-end zone, the story drift of an SMF with Krawinkler's PZ model is equalized with the story drift of the same structure with the AREZ model. Then, the degree of accuracy of the resulting relationship is examined in several connections of generic SMFs. Also, in order to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model in SMFs, several SMFs ranging from 3- to 30-story representing low- to high-rise buildings are examined through linear static and dynamic time history analysis. Furthermore, non-linear dynamic analyses of three SMFs conducted to validate the degree of accuracy of the proposed model in the non-linear analysis of SMFs. Analytical results show that there is considerable conformity between inter-story drift ratio (IDR) results of the SMFs with Krawinkler's PZ model and those of the centerline SMFs with AREZ.
