  • This study presents post-installed anchors whose heads and extension sleeves are improved. The optimal lengths of the extension sleeves and headers were analytically determined by simulations. As a result of analysis using Finite element method (FEM), 9.0mm and 3.0mm were determined as the optimal lengths of sleeves and headers respectively. In pull-out tests using the improved post-installed anchors, all specimens satisfied the coefficient of variation of 15%. Comparing the pull-out strengths of existing anchors and the improved anchors, it was increased by 1.25 times for anchors embedded with a depth of 50mm, and 1.54 times for 70mm. In the cases of high-strength concrete, the strengths were increased by 1.28 and 1.55 times for 50mm and 70mm respectively. Moreover, as a result of shear tests, the improved anchors perform the greater strength of 1.38 times than the existing anchors.

  • The failure mode of piping systems due to seismic loads is the low-cycle fatigue failure with ratcheting, and it was found that the element in which nonlinear behavior is concentrated and damage occurs is the elbow. In this study, to quantitatively express the failure criteria for a pipe elbow of SCH40 3-inch carbon steel under low-cycle fatigue, the limit state was defined as leakage, and the in-plane cyclic loading test was conducted. For the carbon steel pipe elbow, which is the vulnerable part to seismic load of piping systems, the damage index was represented using the moment-deformation angle relationship, and it was compared and analyzed with the damage index calculated using the force-displacement relationship. An attempt was made to quantitatively express the limit state of the carbon steel pipe elbow involving leakage using the damage index, which was based on the dissipated energy caused by repeated external forces.

Also, this research provide some strategic insights for improving business performance. In the proposed model, self-determination consists of autonomy, competence, and relatedness, and entrepreneurship consists of innovation, initiative and risk sensitivity, and proactiveness. More specifically, this study proposes a framework that entrepreneurship and operational performance will play mediating roles between self-determination and financial performance. Research design, data, methodology: In this study, an online survey was conducted on SME CEOs for analysis, and a total of 122 samples were used. In the analysis process for hypothesis verification and evaluation, frequency analysis was first performed to identify the demographic characteristics of the respondents, and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to assess the reliability and validity of the measurement model. In addition, a structural model analysis was conducted to examine the structural relationships between CEO's self-determination, entrepreneurship, and business performance (operational and financial performance) using SmartPLS 3.0. Results: The findings and summary are as follows. First, the autonomy of self-determination has a positive effect on entrepreneurship. Second, the competence of self-determination affects entrepreneurship and operational performance. Third, it affects the innovation, initiative and risk sensitivity of the CEO's entrepreneurship, and ultimately, its operational performance. The results show that the business performance of Start-up also increases when self-determination can be a factor in increasing entrepreneurship in three sub-dimensionalities. Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that in order for SMEs to develop into a sustainable company by securing competitiveness after start-up, external motivation such as external help and support from the state (local government) is important, but competence and relationship, which are components of self-determination. The intrinsic motivation of the CEO may be more important. To this end, CEO's should prioritize learning for competency development, and the government should pay attention to providing various educational programs through establishment of education policies and education systems to enhance the competency of start-up CEO's.

  • This paper describes the process of developing a concrete median barrier of SB4 grade with anti-glare function. The development section has a height and width of 1,270mm and 560mm, respectively. A wire mesh is placed in the center of the cross section to improve the protection performance. Collision analysis predicted that this section satisfies the strength and occupant protection performance, and that no damage to the barrier occurs. In the actual collision test, it was confirmed that this section satisfies the strength and occupant protection performance. However, damage was observed on two concrete barrier when the truck crashed. In order to improve the accuracy of the collision analysis of the concrete barrier in the future, it is considered that a study on the model development and continuous collision analysis method for domestic commercial vehicles should be carried out.

  • In this study, an algorithm was developed to validate the seismic acceleration measurement data of the seismic acceleration measurement system using measurement data from public buildings currently in operation. Through the results of the study, an algorithm was developed to detect errors and abnormalities in the measurement data itself and the process of generating real-time data (MMA/sec) and event measurement data (MiniSEED), which are the main data generated by the system, and the basic data for determining the direction of inspection through measurement data analysis. It is expected that this will be used as a guideline to determine whether or not the seismic acceleration measurement system, which was managed as receiving/not receiving, is inspected and abnormal types of conditions.

  • The fire damage and structural performance of a steel-concrete composite superstructure under a highway bridge exposed to fire loading was evaluated. To enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the numerical analysis, a proposed fluid-structure interaction fire analysis method was implemented in Ansys Fluent and Ansys Mechanical. The temperature distribution and performance evaluation of the steel-concrete composite superstructure according to the vertical distance from the fire source to the bottom flange were evaluated using the proposed analysis method. From the analysis, the temperature of the concrete slab and the bottom flange of the steel-concrete composite superstructure exceeded the critical temperature. Also, when the vertical distance from the fire source was 13 m or greater, the fire damage of the steel-concrete composite superstructure was found to within a safe limit.

  • Interest in the seismic performance of nuclear facilities under strong earthquakes has increased because their nonlinear response is important. In this paper, we proposed appropriate parameters for the nonlinear finite element analysis of a concrete material model, for a reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall in nuclear facilities: maximum tensile strength, dilation angle, and damage parameter. The study of the effects of the important parameters, on the nonlinear behavior and shear failure mode of the RC shear wall having low aspect ratio, was conducted using ABAQUS finite element analysis program. Based on the study results the nonlinear response of a nuclear reactor containment building (RCB) subjected to a strong earthquake was evaluated using nonlinear time-history analysis.

  • De -icing salts have been used commonly in areas where snow or ice is a seasonal safety hazard for roadway, however, the salts is one of main causes on serious deterioration of road infrastructures in crowded urban city like Seoul. In order to establish maintenance strategy of road infrastructures under de-icing salts laden environment, it is necessary to examine environmental characteristics and its response to the existing facilities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the deterioration environment of road infrastructures. Additional purpose is to develop a design model and details for durability design of infrastructures under de-icing salts laden environment, considering mainly a build-up rate of surface chlorides. Concentration of external chloride solution and surface chloride content were calculated at the level of average de-icing salts for 5 years, ratio of auxiliary road of 17.5 to 30%, and effective exposure area to snow 50 to 80%. The chloride build-up rate was 0.073 ~ 0.077% / year and the maximum surface chloride content was calculated to be 2.2 ~ 2.31% by concrete wt. This study is expected to be used for establishing integrated strategy of road infrastructures, such as predicting chloride profiles or degree of chemical corrosion to exposure concrete.

  • In earthquake situations, broadcasting and communication services are directly linked to rapid on-site rescue and effective restoration works. Recently, a variety of base isolation devices are widely introduced on building floors to avoid critical seismic damages of telecommunication facilities. However, in buildings with long fundamental periods, those devices may have undesirable amplification of seismic responses due to resonance effect between the building floors and base isolation devices. This study performs the seismic safety evaluation of two types of base isolation devices deployed for telecommunication facilities in mid- and high-rise buildings through numerical and experimental approaches. It is found that mid- and high-rise buildings can have low-frequency dynamic responses at the top floor when being subjected to design basis earthquake loading. Furthermore, bi-directional shake table testing demonstrated that the selected base isolation devices can exhibit unstable dynamic behaviors under such low-frequency excitations of the floor.
