Normally coating is used a method for protecting reinforced concrete. For this purpose, organic as well as inorganic coatings are used. The advantages of inorganic coatings are lower absorption of UV, non-burning etc. On the other hand, organic coatings have the advantage of low permeability of $CO_2$, $SO_2$ and water. Organic coatings provide better protection for reinforced concrete. However, in organic coatings such as epoxy, urethane and acryl, long-term adhesive strength is reduced and the formed membrane of those is blistered by various causes. Also when organic coatings are applied to the wet surface of concrete, they have a problem with adhesion. So, we developed coating material, WGS-Eco which was hybridized with polymer and cement based material to protect concrete structures and solve problems of organic coatings. This study was conducted an comparative evaluation on physical and durable performance of developed coating material and previously used coating materials. As a result, the performance of developed coating material was not inferior to organic coating materials. So, the developed coating material was considered as a suitable coating material which had advantages of inorganic and organic coatings for protecting concrete.

Water pipes are important facilities and consist of pipes of various specifications and materials. The annual average number of earthquakes in Korea is steadily increasing. Therefore, in case of the water pipe, it is estimated necessary to prepare for earthquakes. Damages to the water pipe by the earthquake can cause problems such as water supply and fire suppression, and cause damage to life and property. In Korea, however, it is difficult to find examples of seismic performance evaluation of water pipes based on experimental study. Damage to the water pipes by the earthquake is caused by the displacement-controlled behavior of the ground which is the liquifaction and fault lines. Especially, The damage to the water pipes by the earthquake is concentrated on the joint of the pipe. In particular, piping less than 200mm in diameter was found to be dangerous. Thus, in this study, the seismic and settlement performance of iPVC buried water pipes with fixed joints with a clamp of 150mm was evaluated with a test approach.

Torsional behavior due to the plane irregularities of the piloti building can cause excessive story drift in the torsionally outermost column, which can lead to shear failure of the column. As a seismic retrofit method that can control the torsional behavior of the piloti building, the expansion of RC wall, steel frame or steel brace may be used, but such methods may hinder the openness of the piloti floor. Therefore, in this study, linear dynamic analysis and nonlinear static analysis for piloti buildings retrofitted by knee brace were performed, and seismic performance evaluation and torsion control effect of knee brace were analyzed. The results showed that the shear force of the column increased when the piloti building retrofitted by knee brace, but it was effective in controlling the torsional deformation. In case of retrofit between knee brace and column by 30°, the shear force of the column increased less than that of 60°, and the lateral displacement of column was decreased in the order of □, ◯ and H in cross-section.
X-ray image analysis is a very important field to improve the early diagnosis rate and prediction accuracy of periodontal disease. Research on the development and application of artificial intelligence-based algorithms to improve the quality of such dental X-ray images is being widely conducted worldwide. Thus, the aim of this study was to design a super-resolution algorithm for predicting periodontal disease and to evaluate its applicability in dental X-ray images. The super-resolution algorithm was constructed based on the convolution layer and ReLU, and an image obtained by up-sampling a low-resolution image by 2 times was used as an input data. Also, 1,500 dental X-ray data used for deep learning training were used. Quantitative evaluation of images used root mean square error and structural similarity, which are factors that can measure similarity through comparison of two images. In addition, the recently developed no-reference based natural image quality evaluator and blind/referenceless image spatial quality evaluator were additionally analyzed. According to the results, we confirmed that the average similarity and no-reference-based evaluation values were improved by 1.86 and 2.14 times, respectively, compared to the existing bicubic-based upsampling method when the proposed method was used. In conclusion, the super-resolution algorithm for predicting periodontal disease proved useful in dental X-ray images, and it is expected to be highly applicable in various fields in the future.

Following the earthquake in Gyeongju (2016) and Pohang (2017), South Korea is no longer a safe place for earthquakes. Accordingly, the need for shelters suitable for disaster environments is increasing. In this study, a lightweight composite panel was used to produce post-disaster housing for refugees to compensate for the disadvantages of existing evacuation facilities. For this purpose, an evaluation of structural performance and thermal environment for post-disaster housing for refugees composed of lightweight composite panels was performed. To assess the structural performance, a lateral loading test was conducted on a system made of lightweight composite panels. The specimens consisted of two types, which differed according to the bonding method, as a variable. In addition, the seismic and wind loads were calculated in accordance with KBC 2016 and compared with the experimental results. Regarding the energy performance, optimization of south-facing window planning and window-wall ratio and solar heat gain coefficient were analyzed to minimize heating, cooling, and lighting energy. As a result, the specimens composed of lightweight composite panels will perform sufficiently safely for lateral loads and the optimized window planning will lead to a low-energy operation.

Defects in aging infrastructures such as pre-stressed concrete bridges and cable bridges can cause a collapse of the entire structure. Defects, however, are often located inside of the structures that they are not visible from the outside. For example, in PSC bridges, because reinforcement steels are encased by exterior covers, corrosion and void on the reinforcement steel cannot be detected with a visual inspection. Therefore, in this paper, a new non-destructive evaluation(NDE) method that can detect defects inside of structures is presented. The new method utilizes sending of electrical signals, a method often utilized in electrical engineering to detect any discontinuities on power cables. In order to confirm the applicability and accuracy of the method, some experiments were conducted in the laboratory. And to overcome the hardship of conducting experiments on real structures due to their enormous size, simualtions were conudcted using a commercial program, COMSOL. The results of the experiments were analyzed and compared to confirm the accuracy of the simualtions.

To restore urban water cycle, it is necessary to improve domestic laws and regulations related to LID(Low Impact Development), which has been successfully applied to foreign countries. Thus, this study has intended to evaluate domestic legal systems related to space and environmental planning and to suggest directions to improve laws and regulations related to space and environmental planning toward extended application of LID in Korea. To reach this goal, this study has analyze the legal and institutional status of the foreign countries where LID has currently been applied, to derive the factors that laws and institutions are required to support LID based on the above analysis, to evaluate domestic laws and regulations related to space and environmental planning, and to suggest directions to improve the laws and regulations. After the evaluation, this study has found the following results. First, it was found that the concept and basic principles of LID and LID planning and associated methods were no longer mirrored in the space planning-related laws and regulations. However, these problems are not confined to LID, and result from thefailurein applying environmental planning to space planning overall. Second, it was revealed that the environmental planning-related laws and regulations defined the terminologies and targets of LID and suggested different measures to improve LID-related policies differently depending on the backgrounds ofenforcing thelaws and regulations and on environmental properties. Finally, this study has suggested the directions to improve laws and regulations related to space and environmental planning as follows. First, it is necessary to enact a law to support the extended application of LID. Second, the law to be enacted should be connected to laws, enforcement ordinances and regulations, and guidelines related to space planning. Third, environmental benefits provided by both structural and non-structural techniques of LID should be quantitatively measured.

Management plan with repairing is essential for RC structures exposed to chloride attack since durability problems occur with extended service life. Conventionally deterministic method is adopted for evaluation of service life and repair cost, however more reasonable repair cost can be obtained through continuous repair cost from probabilistic maintenance technique. Unlike the previous researches considering only normal distribution of life time, PLTFs (Probabilistic Life Time Function) which can be capable of handling log and normal distributions are attempted for initial and repair service life, and repair cost is evaluated for OPC and GGBFS concrete. PLTF with log distributions in initial service life is more effective to save repair cost since it is more dominant after average than normal distribution. Repair cost in GGBFS concrete decreases to 30% of OPC concrete due to longer initial service life and lower repairing event. The proposed PLTF from the work can handle not only normal distributions but also log distributions for initial and repair service life, so that it can provide more reasonable repair cost evaluation.

In case of RC(Reinforced Concrete) structures which are constructed in coastal areas, chloride ions in sea water corrode the steel rebar in concrete. Especially in coastal areas, RC structures are affected by not only immersion of sea water, but also tidal of sea water and airborne chloride ions. In this study, marine environment exposure tests are conducted, considering 3 types of exposure environments(immersion zone, tidal zone, splash zone) and the exposure periods of 180 days, 365 days, and 730 days. Also, the concrete mixtures for this study are established, considering 3 levels of W/B(Water to Binder) ratio(0.37, 0.42, 0.47) and 2 levels of substitution rate of Fly ash(0 %, 30 %). In all exposure environments, Fly ash concrete has lower apparent chloride diffusion coefficients than OPC concrete. It is thought that fly ash's pozzolan reaction improves chloride resistance of concrete. Fly ash concrete has up to 63.5 % of decreasing rate in 180 days of exposure and up to 55.8 % of decreasing rate in 730 days of exposure, based on diffusion coefficients of OPC concrete. As a result of evaluation about effects of exposure environments, apparent chloride diffusion coefficients of fly ash concrete are evaluated in order of tidal zone, immersion zone, and splash zone. In tidal zone, It is thought that repeated cycles of wetting and drying of sea water cause the diffusion of chloride ions rapidly.
Purpose - The major objective of this study was to investigate the effect of franchisor's (economic and philanthropic) CSR in inspiring franchisee's loyalty for the franchisor. Another aim of this investigation also was to clarify the mediating role of economic and social satisfaction in the relationship between franchisor's CSR and franchisee's loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - This study explores the structural relationship between franchisor's CSR and franchisee's loyalty and in these relationships, the mediating role of relationship satisfaction. Data were gathered from employees(above manager) in food-service franchisee companies in Seoul, Korea. The questionnaires were distributed to managers of the franchise stores. A total of 251 questionnaires were collected. Data management and analysis were performed using SPSS 21.O and SmartPLS 3.0. Evaluation of measurement model and structural model was carried out using confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis. Result - The results of this study show as follows. First, economic CSR had positive effects on economic satisfaction and social satisfaction. Second, philanthropic CSR had positive effects on social satisfaction. Third, economic satisfaction and social satisfaction had positive effects on franchisee's loyalty to the franchisor. Conclusions - The important implications of this study have as follows. First, this study has found that economic CSR can create a high economic satisfaction and social satisfaction of franchisee. Second, this findings suggest that the philanthropic CSR can improve the social satisfaction of franchisee. Third, this results demonstrate, for the first time, that the economic satisfaction and social satisfaction of franchisees can play a crucial role to improve their loyalty for the franchisor and pursue mutual development by maintaining the stable business relationship with a franchisor. In this investigation there are at least three limitations. First, Because the research sample is limited to the foodservice franchisee in Seoul, it is not possible to be representativeness of the national franchisee. Second, CSR activities are mostly focused on large franchise companies. Therefore, there is a limit to the research approach. Finally, this study examined the effect of economic CSR and philanthropic CSR on the loyalty of franchisors, but in the future study, it is necessary to analyze the relationship between CSR and loyalty of franchise companies by collecting specific quantitative data such as re-contract rate and management performance of franchisees.
