In order to predict inelastic displacement response without nonlinear dynamic analysis, the equal displacement rule can be used for the structures with longer natural periods than the characteristic period, $T_g$, of earthquake record. In the period range longer than $T_g$, peak displacement responses of elastic systems are equal or larger than those of inelastic systems. In the period range shorter than $T_g$, opposite trend occurs. In the equal displacement rule, it is assumed that peak displacement of inelastic system with longer natural period than $T_g$ equals to that of elastic system with same natural period. The equal displacement rule is very useful for seismic design purpose of structures with longer natural period than $T_g$. In the period range shorter than $T_g$, the peak displacement of inelastic system can be simply evaluated from the peak displacement of elastic system by using the inelastic displacement ratio, which is defined as the ratio of the peak inelastic displacement to the peak elastic displacement. Smooth hysteretic behavior is more similar to actual response of real structural system than a piece-wise linear hysteretic behavior such as bilinear or stiffness degrading behaviors. In this paper, the inelastic displacement ratios of the smooth hysteretic behavior system are evaluated for far-fault and near-fault earthquakes. The simple formula of inelastic displacement ratio considering the effect of $T_g$ is proposed.

This study is a case study to identify the spatial composition and structural problems of existing schools for spatial innovation as a future school that can operate a credit system for old high schools and establish a mid-to-long-term arrangement plan as a credit system operating school capable of various teaching and learning in the future. The study results are as follows: First, most of the problems of the old high schools entailed that there was very poor connectivity between buildings as most of them were arranged in a single, standard design-type unit building and distributed in multiple buildings. In addition, the floor plan of each building is suggested to be a structure in which student exchange and rest functions cannot be achieved during the break period due to the spatial composition of the classroom and hallway concepts. Second, in the direction of the high school space configuration for future school space innovation, the arrangement plan should be established by reflecting the collective arrangement in consideration of the shortening of the movement route and the expansion of subject areas due to the movement of students on the premise of the subject classroom system. Moreover, it is desirable to provide a square-type space for rest and exchange in the central area where communication and exchange are possible according to the moving class. Third, as the evaluation criteria for relocating old high schools, a space program is prepared based on the number of classes in the future, and legal analysis of school land use and land use efficiency analysis considering regional characteristics are conducted. Based on such analysis data, mid-to-long-term land use plans and space arrangement plans for the entire school space such as the school facility complex are established.

Adolescence is a period of transition from child to adult and is a very important period in which to think about the direction to go in the future and establish one's ego. However, the level of life satisfaction experienced by Korean youths in the adolescent period has been shown to be the lowest among OECD countries. It is very critical to understand which factors are important in determining the level of life satisfaction and how they affect it. In this study, to analyze the factors which affect the life satisfaction of youths and their learning attitude - essential school activity prior to life satisfaction in the youth period, we firstly focused on the relationships with their parents, peers and teachers as potential factors affecting their learning attitude and life satisfaction. This study found that Parenting Style, Peer Attachment and Relationship with Teachers significantly influenced Life Satisfaction either directly or indirectly. We analyzed the structural relationships among these factors using the structure equation model, discussed the analysis results and concluded with further research directions.

A study using numerical analysis techniques was conducted to examine the scour effect of pier-type dolphin structures installed in the domestic marine environment, and the effect of scour on horizontal bearing capacity was examined. In this study, we designed the berthing structures, taking into account the environmental and ground conditions of the target maritime area, and after calculating the predicted scour area, stability evaluation was performed by removing the ground elements of the area. The increase in scour depth was found to induce a direct decrease in horizontal bearing capacity due to soil loss in contact with the foundation, establishing a relationship that increases horizontal displacement. However, in the foundation designed to withstand the design load by reflecting the safety rate, the increase in horizontal displacement formed by possible scour is not large, which did not have a dominant effect on the horizontal bearing capacity of the foundation. In the future, research is required to analyze the impact of each factor and formalize evaluation and design techniques to evaluate the scour safety of marine foundations and pier-type structures installed in various ground conditions and structural formats.
The characteristics of the skin shear stress distribution for the fixed length of the ground anchor are extremely nonlinear and the engineering mechanisms are complex relatively. So it is difficult to design the anchors simulating the actual behavior by considering various soil conditions and nonlinear behavior. Due to these limits, constant skin shear stress distributions for the whole fixed length of the ground anchor are usually assumed in the design for the sake of convenience. In this study, to assess the pull-out behavior of the tension-type ground anchors, the in-situ pull-out tests in weathered-soil conditions were carried out. Based on the test results, the skin shear behaviors for the fixed length of tension-type ground anchors were established and the multi-linear slip shear model predicting this behavior and an analytical technique applying this model were proposed. From the similarity between the results of the in-situ pull-out tests and those of the analytical technique, the applicability and availability of the multi-linear slip shear model and the proposed analytical technique were verified. The maximum shear stress was developed at the start point of the fixed length acting with the smaller load than the maximum pull-out load but the minimum shear stress was developed at the start point of the fixed length and the maximum shear stress was developed at the point apart from the start point of the fixed length after the maximum pull-out load.
Carbon fiber is an excellent structural material, which has been proven in many industries, and the shipbuilding industry is no exception. In particular, in advanced maritime countries, special ships of the Navy and Coast Guard with carbon fiber composite hulls have already been deployed. In Korea, carbon fiber composite materials have been applied to a 10-ton class leisure craft or a 30-ton class patrol, but no research has been done on a hundred of tons or more vessels. In this study, the feasibility study of a 500-ton patrol vessel with a carbon fiber composite hull was conducted through an analysis of similar cases abroad. As a result, it was recognized that the developed hull can be reduced in weight by about 21% to 25% compared to the existing aluminum or FRP hull. It was also confirmed that this light-weight effect can induce the improvement of the maximum speed and the improvement of the operating range via simulations.

Roughness is the most important factor to maintain the road performance, and affects greatly on the design life in Jointed Plain Concrete pavements. Also, the factors the evaluate pavement‘s commonality is the three method such as functionality, safety and structural performance. In evaluating function of road, representative factors is the roughness, which has been used to determine maintenance time as key standard. As research for roughness is absence in pavement design. Applied roughness-model had a low-reliability in Korea. Therefore, it is needed to develop reliable model in road roughness. In this research, uniform specific is applied to distribute them after selecting the concrete pavements. Concrete pavement is divided by sections of 238. Total length of this sections has 281km and account for 16% of total road length in korean concrete pavements for selected sections. Considering the korean roughness-model, the evaluation of roughness is performed for the freezing index, average annual rainfall, condition for the base, the amount of traffic as well as spalling(%), cracking(%), age(year) at the selected section at the selected section. Also, additional sections is selected to evaluate various age which affects on the roughness. As a result of the analysis, it showed that spalling(%), cracking(%), age(year), and the condition of the base affected road roughness. When the correlation with the road roughness was analyzed, the reliable model for road roughness was proposed, and the ratio that can explain road roughness was R2-68.8% and P value-0 which is statistically meaningful.

For a member subjected to direct shear forces, forces are transferred across interface concrete area and resisted by shear transfer capacity. Shear-friction equations in recent concrete structural design provisions are derived from experimental test results where shear-friction capacity is defined as a function of steel reinforcement area contained in the interface. This empirical equation gave too conservative values for concrete members with large amounts of reinforcement. This paper presents a method to evaluate shear transfer strengths and to define ultimate conditions which result in crushing of concrete struts after yielding of longitudinal reinforcement perpendicular to the interface concrete. This method is based on the bi-axial stress field theory where different constitutive laws are applied in various means to gain accurate shear strengths by considering softening effects of concrete struts based on the modified compression-field theory and the softened truss model. The validity of the proposed method is examined by applying to some selected test specimens in literatures and results are compared with recent design code provisions. A general agreement is observed between predicted and measured values at ultimate loading stages in initially uncracked normal-strength concrete test.

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures strengthened with FRP materials would cause the loss of the reinforcing effect and the sudden failure of the structure due to the debonding of FRP. The debonding fracture strength of the FRP-strengthened concrete structures has been evaluated using the same strength method as applied in RC structures based on the debonding strain of FRP. However, the values of the FRP debonding strain are different according to design guidelines. Thus, this study carried out an experimental study on RC beams reinforced with GFRP and evaluated the debonding fracture strength of the strengthened beams from each design guideline. Since the debonding failure occurs prior to reaching the ultimate value of concrete compressive strain, this study accounts for the nonlinear stress distribution of concrete. This study also proposed equations that can evaluate the debonding strength of GFRP-strengthened RC beams with similar safety to the ultimate flexural strength of non-strengthened RC beams.
Purpose - This study examines the adverse press coverage that has increased in proportion to the remarkable growth of various kinds of franchise businesses in the food service industry. Today, the trust of franchisees in relation to their franchisor, and the maintenance of good relations between the two, has become a significant social issue. This study investigates relationship satisfaction and the long-term commitment between the franchisor and franchisee. Research design, data, methodology - We used a path analysis to investigate the relationship between justice and trust, trust and relationship satisfaction, justice and relationship satisfaction, trust and long-term commitment, and relationship satisfaction and long-term commitment. Structural Equation Modeling and a Sobel test were used to investigate the mediating effects of trust and relationship satisfaction. Data were collected from 237 Food Franchisees in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in order to test the theoretical model and its hypotheses. Two research methodologies are generally used in the distribution management field. For this study, an empirical method was used. Results - A causal analysis was carried out to test if the research model has a sufficient fit index (for instance, χ2 = 46.694, df = 10, p = .000, GFI = 0.946, AGFI = 0.850, RMR = 0.034, NFI = 0.966, CFI = 0.973), and the results showed that the model was sufficient, thus demonstrating the suitability of the research model. Each hypothesis had a positive influence, both on long-term commitment and relationship satisfaction. Justice with the franchisor had a positive influence on trust. Relation satisfaction cognized by franchisees was found to positively influence long-term commitment. The franchisee perception of justice in relation to the franchisor had no significant influence on long-term commitment. The study investigated the hypothesis that trust could mediate justice and long-term commitment, and that relationship satisfaction could also mediate long-term commitment Both trust and relationship satisfaction were found to be important for long-term commitment. Specifically, trust sub-factors and justice sub-factors influenced long-term commitment. Identification-based and knowledge-based trust were more important than calculus-based trust. Distributive justice was deemed more important than procedural justice; distributive justice should thus be strengthened. Conclusions - Both franchisor and franchisee were independent businesses. Evidently however, the franchisor could not ensure profit without long-term commitment from the franchisee. As for the success of the franchise business, the franchisor should carry out appropriate strategies leading to a satisfactory relationship. For example, transparency makes it possible to maintain and enhance trust and to improve relationship satisfaction. Just relations between franchisor and franchisee should make it possible to maintain and enhance the franchisee's trust. The franchisor should provide a variety of information with respect to the franchisee's business success. Finally, in order to improve the franchisee's long-term commitment, the franchisor should ensure a just approach with trust and relationship satisfaction among their strategies.
