Time series analysis results show the SVD is a candidate of on-line monitoring of welding penetration when the covariance matrix of a full penetration is used as a mapping function. As the reconstructed embedding vectors from the chaotic scalar time series are manipulated by the covariance matrix, the mapped tim series lie on a hyper-ellipsoid which the lengths of semi-axes are the squared eigenvalues of the covariance matrix in the case of full penetration. These visualize by two dimensional stroboscope views. The other cases like partial penetration, are different in the sense of sizes and shapes. Here we test two types of time series; the ion current and the X-ray. The ion current is better than the X-ray as an on-line monitoring signal, because the difference of the eigenvalue spectrum of the ion(between the pull penetration and partial penetration) is bigger than those of the X-ray.

In a screw-type centrifugal pump, the pump head deteriorates from single-phase flow to the choke due to an increased air entrainment at a wide tip clearance compared to that of a narrow tip clearance. Moreover, at a narrow tip clearance, the pump head became partially higher in a two-phase flow than that of a single-phase flow near the best efficiency point in low void fraction region. Therefore, we observed the internal flow pattern by using a stroboscope and we measured the mean size of bubbles from the images obtained with a high speed camera. Then, we investigated the influences of the mean size of bubbles, tip clearances and flow patterns on pump performance.
Swirling flows are found in very wide range of applications, for examples, cyclone separators, spraying machines, heat exchangers and jet pumps, ect. Relatively, little work has been done on the swirl flow using flow visualization techniques. This study deals with many visualization techniques to study on swirling flow. These techniques are related to oil films methods, smoke, dye liquids, liquid crystal, stroboscope light, smoke wire, white light, naphthalene sublimation, LDV(lase doppler Velocimetry) and PIV(particle image velocimetry). The present work has handled single, annular, carved tube, swirl expansion and swirl wake using several visualization methods in the vertical and horizontal circular tube.

The slip frequency is included in feature frequency for fault diagnosis of rotor bar, so rotating rotor speed is needed. In this study, rotor slot harmonic(RSH) method is suggested for speed estimation of induction motor. When the rotor is rotating, motor current signal include the harmonic signal of back-emf voltage related with number of rotor slot. So from the power spectrum of current signal, the rotor speed can be founded. This method of rotor speed estimation gives the slip frequency, and the feature frequency of rotor bar fault can be calculated. Comparing with stroboscope speed meter, the error rate of suggested method is less than 0.1[%].

This paper proposes an algorithm to estimate the screw torque from parameters of induction motor and current of DC motor without strain gage and torque cell. The parameters of friction torque search for damping ratio and electromotive force constant use the motor torque and angula speed signals be generated in the induction motor, make use of oscilloscope and stroboscope for precise measured of experimental data, measured physical parameters through experimental. In addition the screw torque estimated use of measured current signals from induction moor. The results, theory and simulation recognized well coincidence.
The motion of a spinning table-tennis ball is investigated in both theory and experiment. The equation of motion of spinning table-tennis ball is made using aerodynamics and calculated by C++ program In theoretical part, gravity, drag force and lift force are regarded as main force. Velocity, angular velocity, mass and Drag and lift coefficients are considered as a independent variable. Experiments are made by a digital stroboscope, a digital camera and a mirror, and snap multi-exposed images were took as a dependent result In experimental part, both magnitude and direction of velocity and angular velocity are changed in each situation. The predicted three-dimensional trajectories of spinning balls are compared with experimental trajectories. As a result the theoretical trajectories were predicted within 10% of experimental trajectories.
This paper presents the smart fan which is operated by a small conventional motor and an ultrasonic sensor. The smart fan generates cool wind with regulated speed of wing by the distance between the user and the fan. In this research, an 8-bit microcontroller (ATmega128) and an ultrasonic sensor (NT-TS601) are utilized for the system control and sensing information. In order to obtain the speed information from the encoderless DC motor, a stroboscope is used, which provides the voltage variation by the motor speed. The proposed smart fan makes the user feel cool, convenient and safe at a low cost.

Spray and Mixing characteristics of the unlike impinging triplet injectors (F-O-F, O-F-O) were investigated with the variation of the momentum ratio of oxidizer to fuel. The spray pattern was measured using a backlit stroboscopic photography technique, and mixing efficiency was measured using a mechanical patternator. Kerosene/water were used as a propellant simulant. From the experimental results, it is found that a O-F-O type injector has a good atomization. And as the momentum ratio increases, the mixing efficiency decreases rapidly.

This study investigates the flow characteristics of fuel droplets between twin spray for the 4-hole injector used a 4-valve gasoline engine. The injectors for this study were the three types of 4-hole gasoline injector in which orifice diameter was 0.24mm. The spray behavior of twin spray was investigated by means of visualization employed stroboscope. A PDPA system was employed to simultaneously measure the size and velocity of fuel droplets. The 3 dimensional mean velocities. droplet size distributions, SMD and joint probability density function of velocity and droplet size are analyzed at the center of the spray and the center region of twin spray. As a result, the configurations of injector exit such as orifice interval and length of outlet, are very important factors that affect the flow characteristics of fuel droplets at the center region of twin spray.

This study investigates the characteristics of spray, such as evaporation rate and spray trajectory, for a 4-hole injector which is applied to a 4-valve motorcycle gasoline engine. Three dimensional, unsteady, compressible flow and spray within the intake-port and cylinder have been simulated using the VECTIS code. Spray characteristics were investigated at 6000 rpm engine speed. Furthermore, we visualized fuel behavior in the intake-port using a CCD camera synchronized with a stroboscope in order to compare with the analytical results. Boundary and intial conditions were employed by complete 1-D simulation of the engine using the WAVE code. Fuel was injected into the intake-port at two time intervals relative to the position of the intake valves so that the spray arrived when the valves were closed and fully open. The results showed that the trajectory of the spray was directed towards the lower wall of the port with injection against the closed valves. With open valve injection, a large portion of the fuel was lifted by the co-flowing air towards the upper half of the port and this was confirmed by simulation and visualization.
