In this paper a fracture criterion is proposed for cracked cylindrical samples of high-strength prestressing steels of different yield strength. The surface crack is assumed to be semi-elliptical, a geometry very adequate to model sharp defects produced by any subcritical mechanism of cracking: mechanical fatigue, stress-corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement or corrosion fatigue. Two fracture criteria with different meanings are considered: a global (energetic) criterion based on the energy release rate G, and a local (stress) criterion based on the stress intensity factor $K_I$. The advantages and disadvantages of both criteria for engineering design are discussed in this paper on the basis of many experimental results of fracture tests on cracked wires of high-strength prestressing steels of different yield strength and with different degrees of strength anisotropy.

In this paper, computation results of reducible modeling, stress recovery and energy release rate were compared with the results of VABS, Virtual Crack Closure Technique. The result of stress recovery analysis for 1-D model including the stiffness matrix is compared with stress results of three-dimensional 3-D FEM. Energy release rate of composite beam with longitudinal cracks is calculated and compare verifications of numerical analysis results of 3-D FEM and VABS. The procedure of calculating energy release rate through dimensional reduction and stress recovery is intended to be efficient and be utilized in the life-cycle of high-altitude uav's wing, wind blades and tilt rotor blade.

A semi-infinite parallel crack propagated with constant velocity in two bonded anisotropic strip under anti-plane clamped displacement is analyzed. Using Fourier integral transform a Wiener-Hopf equation is derived. By solving this equation the asymptotic stress and displacement fields near the crack tip are determined, where the results give the more general expression applicable to the extent of the anisotropic material having one plane of elastic symmetry for the parallel crack. The dynamic stress intensity factor and energy release rate are also obtained as a closed form, which are the results applicable to the problem both of dynamic and static crack under the same geometry as this study. The stress intensity factor approaches zero at the critical crack velocity which is less than the shear wave velocity, but in typical case of isotropic or orthotropic material agrees with the velocity of shear wave. Also a circular shear stress around crack tip is considered, from which the stress is shown to be approximately symmetric about the horizontal axis. Referring to the maximum stress criteria, it could be shown that a brenched crack is formed by crack growth as crack velocity increases.
A numerical method, using a special mixed finite element associated with the virtual crack extension technique, has been developed to evaluate the energy release rate for kinking cracks. The element is two dimensional 7-node mixed finite element with 5 displacement nodes and 2 stress nodes. The mixed finite element ensures the continuity of stress and displacement vectors on the coherent part and the free edge effect. This element has been formulated starting from a parent element in a natural plane with the aim to model different types of cracks with various orientations. Example problems with kinking cracks in a homogeneous material and bimaterial are presented to assess the computational accuracies.
Delamination of multilayered inhomogeneous beam that exhibits non-linear relaxation behavior is analyzed in the present paper. The layers are inhomogeneous in the thickness direction. The dealamination crack is located symmetrically with respect to the mid-span. The relaxation is treated by applying a non-linear stress-straintime constitutive relation. The material properties which are involved in the constitutive relation are distributed continuously along the thickness direction of the layer. The delamination is analyzed by applying the J-integral approach. A time-dependent solution to the J-integral that accounts for the non-linear relaxation behavior is derived. The delamination is studied also in terms of the time-dependent strain energy release rate. The balance of the energy is analyzed in order to obtain a non-linear time-dependent solution to the strain energy release rate. The fact that the strain energy release rate is identical with the J-integral value proves the correctness of the non-linear solutions derived in the present paper. The variation of the J-integral value with time due to the non-linear relaxation behavior is evaluated by applying the solution derived.

When a saturated clay is sampled in an undisturbed manner from a bore hole, the sample extends vertically and shrinks horizontally under undrained conditions due to stress release. The conventional consolidation test specimen is trimmed from the expanded sample so that its diameter is equal to the inner diameter of the consolidation test ring, this test procedure does not reproduce the actual consolidation behavior. The measurement of sample extension was conducted by means of overcoring method found that the extension strains were 1 to 2%. To simulate the in-situ consolidation behavior, the consolidation test method that uses a specimen with a slightly smaller diameter than the inside diameter of consolidometer so that the specimen expands laterally to the inside of the ring.

Continuum formulations for the expressions of dynamic energy release rates and computational methods for dynamic stress intensity factors are developed for the analysis of dynamic fracture problems subjected to stress wave loading. Explicit volume integral expressions for instantaneous dynamic energy release rates are derived by modeling virtual crack extensions with the dynamic Eulerian-Lagrangian kinematic description. In the finite element applications a finite region around a crack-tip is modeled by using quarter-point singular isoparametric elements, and the volume integrals are evaluated for each crack-tip element during virtual crack extensions while the singularity is maintained. It is shown that the use of the present method is more reliable and accurate for the dynamic fracture analysis than that of other path-independent integral methods when the effects of stress waves are significant.

Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of myofascial release technique (MFR) on psychological and physical symptom in somatization with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Based on this, proceed to present an effective physical treatments. Methods: In this study, three subjects were applied ABA design for a total of 12 weeks. Intervention was performed three times per week, and only MFR for 6 weeks was applied to the patient for 60 minutes. General physical therapy consisted of a total of 60 minutes including hot pack, electric therapy, and ultrasound. In this study, we measured three times in the second baseline stage at the initial evaluation before the commencement of intervention, somatization, depression, anxiety, sleep disorder, and pain after 6 weeks and 12 weeks. Results: In this study, the application of MFR showed significant differences in somatization symptoms, sleep disturbance, and headache. There was no significant difference in depression and anxiety. Conclusions: As a result, the application of MFR in PTSD patients with somatization can be suggested as a useful intervention to resolve the psychosomatic problem.
In this study, considering dissipated energy in fracture process zone (FPZ), a novel criterion based on maximum strain energy release rate (SER) for orthotropic materials is presented. General case of in-plane loading for cracks along the fibers is assumed. According to the experimental observations, crack propagation is supposed along the fibers and the reinforcement isotropic solid (RIS) concept is employed as a superior model for orthotropic materials. SER in crack initiation and propagation phases is investigated. Elastic properties of FPZ are extracted as a function of undamaged matrix media and micro-crack density. This criterion meaningfully links between dissipated energy due to toughening mechanisms of FPZ and the macroscopic fracture by defining stress intensity factors of the damaged zone. These coefficients are used in equations of maximum SER criterion. The effect of crack initiation angle and the damaged zone is considered simultaneously in this criterion and mode II stress intensity factor is extracted in terms of stress intensity factors of damage zone and crack initiation angle. This criterion can evaluate the effects of FPZ on the fracture behavior of orthotropic material. Good agreement between extracted fracture limit curves (FLC's) and available experimental data proves the ability of the new proposed criterion.
This study was conducted to investigate effects of Dansambohyultang on serum gastrin, secretin release and CNS in rats and mice. One group of seven rats was intactly in normal condition, the other group of seven rats was respectively heated, starved, and stressfully immobilized. The third group of seven rats was provided with Dansambohyultang before the stress, and the forth one after the stress. And, gastrin concentration and secretin concentration were measured. Mice were studied with regard to convulsion time, total sleep time and analegic effects on cental nerve system. The results were as follows: 1. Gastrin concentration was significantly decreased, and secretin concentration was significantly increased. 2. Analegic effect by acetic acid method was recognizably observed. 3. Effect of total sleep time done by pentobarbital-Na was recognizably observed. 4. Anti-convulsion effects induced by strychnine, picrotoxin and caffeine were recognizable. It is inferred from above results that Dansambohyultang inhibits gastin release, stimulates secretin release and palliate the pain.
