Recently, the main concerns of enterprise management activities is how to strengthen the competitiveness to quickly respond to changes and sustain the growth in business environment. As IT(Information Technology) has become to be viewed as a key driver for the business competitiveness, new paradigms, such as business and IT alignment, IT-driven product/service innovation and so on, are regarded as the hot topic in many industries. However, previous studies related to IT evaluation, which is more critical than any other IT activities, have focused on quantitative IT deployment, utilization and its economical effects. Therefore, this study presents the newly-developed evaluation domains and items based on four pairs of relative concepts in industrial informatization, and their multi-dimensional analysis methodology which explains various types of IT characteristics of enterprises. And finally, pilot tests at 2 companies in financial service sector will be performed in order to verify the practicality of the evaluation system.

In recent years, the main concerns of enterprise management activities is how to strengthen the competitiveness to quickly respond to changes and sustain the growth in business environment. In order to achieve competitiveness and sustainability, a large variety of production informatization systems, such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), have been introduced to manufacturing companies. However, there have been many problems owing to the reckless introduction of those systems. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the informatization level of the manufacturing company before introducing production informatization systems. This paper presents methodology and system to evaluate the informatization level of manufacturing company. The proposed evaluation method, based on the traditional questionnaire approaches, considers the various characteristics of the company. And then, we proposed models for calculation and production informatization level using 450 results of conducting a survey. Finally, a web-based system was developed for the evaluation of informatization level.

There has been rising demand within the South Korean government and among various industries in recent years on the need for strengthening the competitiveness of the software industry, which they highlight as being a core element for national competitiveness. This strategy would require enhancing the job competency of software developers. This study's results show that computational thinking (CT), which is one of the more creative solutions to the problem, has a positive effect on the enhancement of software developers' job competency. Furthermore, the study finds that the software development tasks of simulation, algorithms and procedures, and parallelization (in that order) serve as influential elements for software developers, which differs from previous studies' findings. The South Korean government thus should emphasize education in these areas in order to enhance the nation's job competence. Because simulation, especially, has the greatest influence among these areas, there is a particular need to strengthen that area.

Recently, with achieved US$ 500 Billion international cumulative construction order, the Korean government presented overseas construction industry visions for international orders of US$ 100 B and entering the top five countries in global construction market. Also, Korean companies are developing strategies for expansion of international markets especially focused on company competitiveness as a target market. Therefore, this study aims to analysis of competitiveness for the Cambodian building construction market, which presents abundant development potential. The results of IPA result were as follows; construction order information and supply chain management are needed for public tender projects and F/S, global project financing, and supplier relationship management are needed for construction investment projects. However, this work is still considered to provide the basic data that can help Korean construction companies who plan to enter the Cambodian building construction market strengthen their medium and long-term capabilities.

The total amount of overseas plant orders obtained by Korean construction companies in 2015 decreased by approximately 51% from the previous year. While a chemical plant sector has the highest portion of the plant orders by accounting for 63% of the plant industry, its orders also decreased by approximately 43% in the same year. Recently, plant construction companies in overseas projects have been dominating the engineering sector owing to their advanced technology, experience, and accumulated knowledge. Therefore, measures must be taken to secure the competitiveness of domestic companies in the global plant industry. Especially, productivity management is an important issue to strengthen the national competitiveness with the development of construction technology. As the productivity influences long term growth, we analyze productivity obstacle factors by using the revised IPA, a technique to measure attribute importance and performance. With the identified factors, we suggest improvement plans and measures to enhance productivity of overseas chemical plant projects. This study will help the companies to come up with medium and long term measures by discussing results and implications it provides.

Recently, design automation of installation drawings and design elements has been required in the elevator industry. This is recognized as an important role in securing adaptability on site, reducing design errors, and enhancing export competitiveness. However, in case of a small company doesn't have enough resources to develop the program, and it is difficult to develop a design automation program. Therefore, it is necessary to have an automatic drawing generation program that enables small companies to easily invest and use, while allowing users to concentrate on productive tasks. In this paper, we propose an automatic drawing generation program using parametric coding technique. This program is linked with the web service and automatically creates the drawing when the user enters the site information on the web. This is useful for elevator installation and maintenance due to reduced drawing time for elevator drawings.

In an attempt to shed light on the effects of overseas internships on foreign language development, this study investigated the differences in English compositions written by 10 Korean university students who joined an overseas internship program for 15 weeks. For data collection, the participants each wrote an English composition before and after the internship. Data collected was analyzed to discern differences in the two writings, and statistical analyses were carried out of the results. Results showed that the participants appeared to have attained lexical fluency, generating longer sentences embedded with multisyllabic, more diverse types, more complex and less redundant words in more complicated structures after the internship. This study revealed that overseas internships facilitated the growth of linguistic abilities. Korean SMEs need to enhance the global capacity of their human resources via overseas internships to strengthen their global competitiveness, apart from improving their industrial competencies such as productivity and product quality.

Busan Port is operated separately by a number of terminal operators, resulting in a large number of ITT (Inter-Terminal Transportation) volumes. The occurrence of ITT volume causes various problems such as additional transportation cost, empty truck trips, truck delays and terminal congestion, weakening Busan Port's competitiveness. Among them, the empty truck trip problem is a representative factor, that exacerbates the cost problem of the ITT operation at Busan Port. But the ITT backhaul rate at Busan Port remains low. To strengthen the transhipment competitiveness of Busan Port, it is necessary to increase the ITT backhaul rate. In this paper, to improve ITT backhaul rate, we present a mathematical model for maximizing backhaul transport using buffer space. And we analyzed the improving effects of backhaul transport using buffer space through experiments based on actual operating data.

This study sought ways to strengthen the competitiveness of local governments using public diplomacy, especially in Chungcheongbuk-do, at a time when it is urgent to revitalize the local economy by attracting investment from domestic and foreign companies due to changes in the global supply chain. The main issues that have recently emerged in the global business environment include strengthening the localization of the global value chain, diversifying reshoring and supply chains, and creating an efficient global value chain through digital transformation. Therefore, this study emphasized the necessity of a strategy for public diplomacy based on these changes, and derived the response conditions and detailed strategies of Chungcheongbuk-do through SWOT analysis. In addition, based on the ABCD model, we set up a Chungbuk-type public diplomacy strategy and suggested strategic implications for upgrading Chungbuk's competitiveness.

Purpose - In this study, we aim to explore new distribution strategies for sustainable growth in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, focusing on SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in Korea, and suggest ways to upgrade the government's official distribution channel to the next level. Design/methodology - First of all, this paper explored the prior research, the current status of sales support for SMEs, and the changes in the distribution industry due to COVID-19 pandemic. Based on Moon (2016)'s ABCD strategic model - Agility, Benchmarking, Convergence, and Dedication, the study then derived directions in which official distribution channels should move and the new distribution strategy for Korean SMEs to secure competitive advantage. Findings - First, in terms of 'Agility', in order to upgrade official distribution channels, which are currently at some competitive disadvantages compared to private distribution companies, we must quickly introduce technologies for the 4th industrial revolution, such as AI, Big Data, etc., and establish precise strategies to strengthen the capabilities of SMEs. Second, in terms of 'Benchmarking', the use of "Chamelezones" has been increasing to enhance the competitiveness of offline stores in line with recent ontact trends. Therefore, official distribution channels should also benchmark such cases, strengthening their competitiveness by utilizing offline spaces more efficiently and effectively. Third, in terms of 'Convergence', in line with the rapidly changing trend of the times, official distribution channels should also promote active partnerships with media commerce, e-commerce and ICT platforms, as well as cooperation with private retailers, and focus on creating synergy effects through them. Finally, from the perspective of 'Dedication', digitalization should be promoted step by step, finding the sector that can accelerate digital among the value chains of official distribution channels, and continuing to discuss how to digitize it realistically. Originality/value - Based on this analysis, we have presented strategies and implications for innovating official distribution channels for SMEs, which will contribute to enhancing the competitive advantage of official distribution channels in the post COVID-19 pandemic era.
