This paper presents the probabilistic analysis for fatigue life of Glass/Epoxy laminates with impact-induced damage. For this, a series of impact tests were perfomed on the Glass/Epoxy laminates using instrumented impact testing machine. Then, tensile and fatigue tests carried out so as to generate post-impact residual strength and fatigue life. Two Parameter Weibull distribution was used to fit the residual strength and fatigue life data of Glass/Epoxy composite laminates. The residual strength was affected by impact energy and their variance decreased with increasing of impact energy. The fatigue life of impacted laminates was greatly reduced by impact energy and this trend depended on applied stress amplitude. Additionally, the variation of fatigue life was gradually decreased with the applied stress amplitude.

The paper investigates the relationships between dynamic elastic modulus and static elastic modulus or compressive strength according to curing temperature, aging, and cement type. Based on this investigation, the new model equations are proposed. Impact echo method estimates the resonant frequency of specimens and uniaxial compression test measures the static elastic modulus and compressive strength. Type I and V cement concretes, which have the water-cement ratios of 0.40 and 0.50, are cured under the isothermal curing temperature of 10, 23, and 50 $^{\circ}C$. Cement type and aging have no large influence on the relationship between dynamic and static elastic modulus, but the ratio of dynamic and static elastic modulus comes close to 1 as temperature increases. Initial chord elastic modulus, which is calculated at lower strain level of stress-strain curve, has the similar value to dynamic elastic modulus. The relationship between dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength has the same tendency as the relationship between dynamic and static elastic modulus. The proposed relationship equations between dynamic elastic modulus and static elastic modulus or compressive strength properly estimates the variation of relationships according to cement type, temperature, and aging.

Many successful developments and microscopic studies have been made on the high quality insulating materials. However, a little attention have given to the macroscopic interface in HV(High Voltage) insulating systems. In this study, AC interfacial breakdown strength and V-t characteristic of the interface between Epoxy/EPDM(ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) are investigated. Electrode system is designed to reduce the charges from electrodes and to have the tangential potentials along the interface between Epoxy/EPDM by FEM(finite elements method). The AC breakdown strength is observed when HV is given to the interface. It is shown that AC interfacial breakdown strength is improved by increasing interfacial pressure and oiling. In particular, it was saturated at certain interfacial pressure level. V-t characteristic is able to extend to the life time of the interface between Epoxy/EPDM. Oiling also plays a good roll in prolongation of the life time.
The variation in microstructure and mechanical properties during heat treatment was examined in a series of 0.27% C-1.0% Si-1.5% Mn steels with chromium contents in the range of 0 to 1.0 wt%. It was found that chromium decreased the martensite packet size through the austenite grain refinement and increased tensile strength in the as-quenched steel, about 70 MPa per 1.0 wt%. The 0.27% C-1.0% Si-1.5% Mn-1.0% Cr steel showed tensile strength of 1700 MPa in the as-quenched steel. The 0.27% C-1.0% Si-1.5% Mn-1.0% Cr steel revealed a full martensitic structure after air cooling from $900^{\circ}C$ to room temperature, showing air hardening characteristics. Tempering at $150^{\circ}C$ slightly decreased the tensile strength and increased elongation, which is in a good agreement with impact toughness result.

Porous concrete is defined as d type of concrete for which the fine aggregate component the matrix is entirely omitted. Although it had been used as a building material in Europe for over 60 years, low strength and high void ratio limited its application in the past. In recent years, however high void ratio of concrete has been recognized again and can be used as an environmental conscious material, for example, parking lots, draining light-traffic-volume pavements and as sea water purifying material. The result of an experiment on the void ratio of fiber reinforced porous concrete and its influence on the compressive strength and permeability relationship of concrete are reported in this paper. One-sized coarse aggregate of 5-10mm, and three absolute content of fiber(steel fiber, polyprophylen fiber) were used. The result of measured void ratio, permeability coefficient and compressive strength show a small variation. Void ratio, permeability coefficient and compressive strength of fiber reinforced porous concrete depend on contents of fiber and absolute volume ratios of paste to aggregate.

The density of coarse grained materials which is used in rock-fill dam or the piling the ground are used as $1.85\sim2.10g/cm^3$. Hereupon, the effect of variation of density on shear strength of ones was analyzed from the results of large scale shear test. The sample for the test was obtained from the local quarry sites. The test conditions are that density(1.85 versus $2.10g/cm^3$), material size range$(76.3\sim2.0\;mm)$, water content(air dry condition) and uniformity coefficient(5.0) Test result shows that the shear strength of $2.10g/cm^3$ is relatively larger than that of $1.85g/cm^3$.

SiC direct bonding technology is very attractive for both SiCOI(SiC-on-insulator) electric devices and SiC-MEMS(micro electro mechanical system) fields because of its application possibility in harsh environments. This paper presents pre-bonding techniques with variation of HF pre-treatment conditions for SiC wafer direct bonding using PECVD(plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition) oxide. The PECYD oxide was characterized by XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectrometer) and AFM(atomic force microscopy). The characteristics of the bonded sample were measured under different bonding conditions of HF concentration and an applied pressure. The bonding strength was evaluated by the tensile strength method. The bonded interface was analyzed by using SEM(scanning electron microscope). Components existed in the interlayer were analyzed by using FT-IR(fourier transform infrared spectroscopy). The bonding strength was varied with HF pre-treatment conditions before the pre-bonding in the range of 5.3 kgf/cm$^2$to 15.5 kgf/cm$^2$.
The moment-curvature relationship of reinforced concrete beams made of normal- and high-strength concrete experiencing complex load history is studied using a numerical method that employs the actual stress-strain curves of the constitutive materials and takes into account the stress-path dependence of the concrete and steel reinforcement. The load history considered includes loading, unloading and reloading. From the results obtained, it is found that the complete moment-curvature relationship, which is also path-dependent, is similar to the material stress-strain relationship with stress-path dependence. However, the unloading part of the moment-curvature relationship of the beam section is elastic but not perfectly linear, although the unloading of both concrete and steel is assumed to be linearly elastic. It is also observed that when unloading happens, the variation of neutral axis depth has different trends for under- and over-reinforced sections. Moreover, even when the section is fully unloaded, there are still residual curvature and stress in the section in some circumstances. Various issues related to the post-peak behavior of reinforced concrete beams are also discussed.
In general, the strength and stiffness of laminated composite cylindrical shells are very sensitive to the variation of slenderness parameters, some coupling-stiffness parameters, lamination angles, stacking sequence and number of layers. In this paper, the effects of these factors on the strength and buckling reliabilities of GFRP laminated cylindrical shells are investigated based on the proposed strength and buckling limit state models. As these factors have various and complicated effects on the strength and buckling reliabilities of GFRP laminated cylindrical shells, the results should be incorporated into the design formula such that optimum design technique and design code which provide uniform consistent reliability for balanced design in practice

Comparison of shear strength and shear energy of the 48Sn-52In solder bumps reflowed on Cu UBM were made with variations of reflow temperature from $150^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$ and reflow time from 1 min to 20 min to establish an evaluation method for the mechanical reliability of solder bumps. Compared to the shear strength, the shear energy of the Sn-52In solder bumps was much more consistent with the solder reaction behavior and the fracture mode at the Sn-52In/Cu interface, indicating that the bump shear energy can be used as an effective tool to evaluate the mechanical integrity of solder/UBM interface.
