Recently, Construction Projects are being much bigger and more complex. So the importance of Construction Planning and Management is increasing and increasing because of the Construction Projects is involved in a variety of construction-related subjects. Competitive of the Construction Industry decided Cost, Construction Duration and Productivity. But they were just focused on Cost Saving instead of Construction Duration and Productivity. However, they have to finish construction projects using minimum cost and duration with quality and function of required level for successful Construction projects. Thus, current high exchange rate and high period, it is clear to decrease construction cost and to do economic construction in huge Construction Projects and it means more advanced Construction Schedule Management needs for economic construction. But Construction Scheduling Planning, basic of Construction Schedule Management, adjusted contract period without Pre-Planning, just depending on experience and ability of Construction Engineer. Because of that, this study suggests new Duration Estimate Method using Stochastic Model in BIM Environment for advanced Construction Schedule Management. Existing Duration Estimate Methods are just modified wrong points of them or analyzed effective factors of construction schedule. However, New Duration Estimate Method is just consists of Stochastic Model and BIM Environment without existing Duration Estimate Methods. So, new method has creativity and specialty. After this research, it would be a great model in construction industry field.

We develop a dispatching policy for stochastic scheduling simulation especially for a continuous manufacturing system with machine breakdowns. The proposed dispatching policy computes an urgency index with the consideration of re-heating, setup cost and remaining due date. Prioritized by the index, we execute swapping or reassigning material sequences so as to minimize the total penalty cost. To evaluate the performance of the proposed policy, a discrete event simulation is developed. With 200 data sets and 20 iterations, we compare the performance of the urgency policy with those of SPT (Shortest Processing Time) and FCFS (First Come First Serve) which are the most common policies. The result shows that the proposed policy consistently gives the lowest total costs by reducing the penalty costs for lateness.
Wireless mobile networks that exploit generalized PF scheduling can dynamically allocate network resources by using scheduling parameters. There are limitations to predict throughputs by the conventional stochastic approach in general. Moreover the limitations make it difficult to find appropriate scheduling parameters for achieving the demanded throughputs. This paper derives a prediction algorithm that predicts throughputs of the networks by using deterministic approach. A throughput adjust algorithm and a throughput switching algorithm are derived from the prediction algorithm. The performance of the throughput prediction/switching algorithms is evaluated by a simulator based on IEEE 802.16m system.

Resource allocation, such as joint rate control and scheduling, is an important issue in cognitive radio networks. However, it is difficult to jointly consider the rate control and scheduling problem due to the stochastic behavior of channel availability in cognitive radio networks. In this paper, we propose an asymmetric joint rate control and scheduling technique under reliability constraints in cognitive radio networks. The joint rate control and scheduling problem is formulated as a convex optimization problem and substantially decomposed into several sub-problems using a dual decomposition method. An algorithm for secondary users to locally update their rate that maximizes the utility of the overall system is also proposed. The results of simulations revealed that the proposed algorithm converges to a globally optimal solution.
In this paper, we study a cross-layer and end-to-end optimization problem for the integrated wireless and wireline network that consists of one wireline core network and multiple wireless access networks. We consider joint end-to-end flow control/distribution at the transport and network layers and opportunistic scheduling at the data link and physical layers. We formulate a single stochastic optimization problem and solve it by using a dual approach and a stochastic sub-gradient algorithm. The developed algorithm can be implemented in a distributed way, vertically among communication layers and horizontally among all entities in the network, clearly showing what should be done at each layer and each entity and what parameters should be exchanged between layers and between entities. Numerical results show that our cross-layer and end-to-end optimization approach provides more efficient resource allocation than the conventional layered and separated optimization approach.

Vehicle Scheduling Problem (VSP) is a generic name given to a whole class of problems involving the visiting of "stations" by "vehicles," where a time is associated with each activity. The studies performed to date have the common feature of a single objective while satisfying a set of restrictions and known customer supplies or demands. However, VSPs may involve relevant multiple objectives and probabilistic supplies or demands at stations, creating multicriteria stochastic VSPs. This paper proposes a heuristic algorithm based on goal programming approach to schedule the most satisfactory vehicle routes of a bicriteria VSP with probabilistic supplies at stations. The two relevant objectives are the minimization of the expected travel distance of vehicles and the minimization of the due time violation for collection service at stations by vehicles. The algorithm developed consists of three major stages. In the first stage, an artificial capacity of vehicle is determined, on the basis of decision maker's subjective estimates. The second one clusters a set of stations into subsets by applying an efficient cluster method developed. In the third one, the stations in each subset are scheduled by applying an iterative goal programming heuristic procedure to each cluster.

A major concern in Concurrent Engineering is the control and management of workload in a period of process. As a general rule, leveling the peak of workload in certain period is difficult because concurrent processing is comprised of various processes, including overlapping, paralleling looping and so on. Therefore, the workload management with resource constraints is so beneficial that effective methods to analyze design process are momentous. This study presents the Timed Petri Nets approach of precedence logic networks, and provides an alternative for users to analyze constraint processes to resolve conflicts of resources. Another approach to Continuous Time Markov Chain using Stochastic Petri Nets is also proposed. These approaches are expected to facilitate resolving resource constrained scheduling problems more systematically in Concurrent Engineering environment.
We propose robust MILP model for scheduling and design of multiproduct batch processes in this paper. Recent stochastic modeling approaches considering uncertainty have mainly focused on maximization of expected NPV. Robust model concept is applied to generate solution spectrum in which we can select the best solution based on tradeoff between robustness measure and expected NPV. Robustness measure is represented as penalty term in the objective function, which is Upper Partial Mean of NPV. We can quantify solution robustness by this penalty term and maintain model as MILP form to be computationally efficient. An example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed model. In many cases sufficient robustness can be guaranteed through a little reduction of expected NPV.

Traditional maintenance planning is based on a constant maintenance interval for equipment life. In order to consider economic aspect for time based preventive maintenance, preventive maintenance is desirable to be scheduled by RCM(Reliability-Centered Maintenance) evaluation. The main objective of RCM is to reduce the maintenance cost, by focusing on the most important functions of the system and avoiding or removing maintenance actions that are not strictly necessary. So, Markov state model is utilized considering stochastic state in RCM. In this paper, a Markov state model which can be used for scheduling and optimization of maintenance is presented. The deterioration process of system condition is modeled by the stepwise Markov model in detail. Also, because the system is not continuously monitored, the inspection is considered. In case study, simulation results about RCM will be shown using the real historical data of combustion turbine generating unit in Korean power systems.

Islanded operation of a microgrid can ensure the reliable operation of the system when a large accident occurs in the main grid. However, because the generation capability of a microgrid is typically limited, a microgrid operator should take islanded operation risk into account in scheduling its generation resources. To address this problem, in this paper we have proposed two unit commitment formulations based on the islanding scenario that reflect the expected and worst-case values of the islanded operation risk. An optimal resource scheduling strategy is obtained for the microgrid operator by solving these optimization problem, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is investigated by numerical simulations.
