Determination of Epipolar Geometry for High Resolution Satellite Images

  • The geometry of satellite image captured by linear pushbroom scanner is different from that of frame camera image. Since the exterior orientation parameters for satellite image will vary scan line by scan line, the epipolar geometry of satellite image differs from that of frame camera image. As we know, 2D affine orientation for the epipolar image of linear pushbroom scanners system are well-established by using the collinearity equation (Testsu Ono, 1999). Also, another epipolar geometry of linear pushbroom scanner system is recently established by Habib(2002). He reported that the epipolar geometry of linear push broom satellite image is realized by parallel projection based on 2D affine models. Here, in this paper, we compared the Ono's method with Habib's method. In addition, we proposed a method that generates epipolar resampled images. For the experiment, IKONOS stereo images were used in generating epipolar images.

  • The distance detection system receives stereo video input through 2 CCD cameras. Using a decoder, the image is changed to the YCbCr4:2:2 format and only the Y signal is saved in the 4*256*8bit shift register of the Dual-Port SRAM. As a result of the matching procedure, the Depth value, which is the distance information, is saved in SRAM, and the Depth Map is made and output to the TFT-LCD screen.

A Method for Projecting Multiple Stripe Patterns for High Precision 3D Measurement (고정밀 3차원 측정을 위한 다중 줄무늬 투영 방법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a novel method of projecting a multiple stripe pattern whose intensity profile is sinusoidal. The sinusoidal stripe patterns are plated with chromium on a piece of glass, and the glass is placed within an optical projection system. By linearly moving the glass along the direction of the stripe pattern, the projection system generates the motion blurring effect, and as a result, produces a blurred stripe pattern whose intensity profile is sinusoidal along the perpendicular direction of the stripe pattern. The sinusoidal pattern improves the measurement accuracy of phase-shifting method. Experimental results are provided for three different types of stripe patterns: rectangle, diamond, and sinusoid.

  • Circular dynamic stereo has special advantages as it enables a 3-D measurement using a single TV camera and also enables a high accurate measurement without a cumbersome calibration. Annular particle streaks are recorded using this system and the size of annular streaks directly concerns to the depth from TV camera. That is, the size of annular streaks is inversely proportional to the depth from the TV camera and the depth can be measured automatically by image processing technique. Overlapped streaks can be processed also by our method. The flow measurement in a water tank is one of the applications of our system. Tracer particles are introduced into the water in a flow measurement. Since the tracer particles flow with water, three-dimensional velocity distributions in the water tank can be obtained by measuring the all movement of tracer particles. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of our method.

  • It is reasonable to use the stereo vision and image processing technique to digitize 3D coordinates of grid points and to evaluate surface strains on a sheet metal parts. However this method has its intrinsic problems such as the difficulty in enhancement of bad images inevitable error due to digital image resolution of camera and frame grabber unreliability of strains and thickness evaluated from coarse grid on the corner area with large curvature and the limitation of the area that can be measured at a time. Therefore it is still hard to measure strain distribution over the entire surface of a medium,- or large-sized stamped part at a time even by using an automated strain measurement system. In this study the curvature correction algorithm based on the grid refinement and the geometry assembling algorithm based on the global error minimization (GEM) scheme are suggested. Several applications are presented to show the reliability and efficiency of these algorithms.

  • One of the basic technology for implementing the autonomy of UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) is a path planning algorithm using obstacle and raw terrain information which are gathered from perception sensors such as stereo camera and laser scanner. In this paper, we propose a generation method of DVGM(Directional Velocity Grid Map) which have traverse speed of UGV for the five heading directions except the rear one. The fuzzy system is designed to generate a resonable traveling speed for DVGM from current patch to the next one by using terrain slope, roughness and obstacle information extracted from raw world model data. A simulation is conducted with world model data sampled from real terrain so as to verify the performance of proposed fuzzy inference system.

  • Many researchers have developed the techniques of an efficient 3-D sound system based on the psycho-acoustics of spatial hearing with multimedia or virtual reality In this paper, we propose an idea for the improved 3-D sound system using conventional stereo headphones to obtain a better sound diffusion from the mono-sound recorded at an anechoic chamber. We use the HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) for the sound localization and the wavelet filter bank with time delay for the sound diffusion. We investigate the effects of the 3-B sound depending on the length of time delay at lowest frequency band. Also the correlation coefficient of the signals between the left channel and the right channel is measured to identify the sound diffusion.

  • 실감 미디어에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라 고품질의 실감 미디어에 대한 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 실감미디어를 제작하기 위해 사용되는 일반적인 기법 중 하나인 Multi View Stereo 는 깊이 영상 추정 및 해당 깊이 영상을 이용하여 3 차원에 point cloud 를 생성하는 fusion 과정을 거치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 다중 시점 영상의 깊이 영상을 정합하는 fusion 과정을 개선하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법에서는 깊이 영상, 색상정보를 이용하여 기준 시점의 depth map 을 이용한 fusion 과정을 거친다. 실험을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘을 이용한 결과가 기존보다 개선됨을 보인다.

  • The 3D visualization of seafloor topography(ST) was realized to discuss the effective use by the 3D visualization of ST on the integrated navigation system(INS) for fishing boat. The software was to actually display the 3D visualization of ST using triangular irregular network, helical hyperspatial codes and stereo projection. The INS for fishing boat which applied the 3D visualization of ST will be utilized for safety voyage and the effective fishing work on the fishing ground.
