Measurement of Distance and Velocity of Moving Objects using Single Camera Pseudo-Stereo Images

  • In this study, a new algorithm for measuring the velocity and distance from a camera to a moving object by using pseudo-stereo images obtained from a single camera with a stereo adapter is proposed. The proposed system is similar to a parallel visual stereo system using a two-camera system, but because this system can obtain pseudo-stereo images form a single camera, it has advantages not only in the aspect of cost but also in stereo conformity by arrangement and the calibration of the left and right stereo cameras upon image processing.

  • To apply stereo vision system to obstacle recognition system of AGV, we constructed algorithm of stereo matching and distance measuring with stereo image for positioning of object in area. And using this system, we look into the error between real position and measured position, and studied relationship of compensation.

  • In this paper, we investigate a real-time environment recognition system based on stereo vision for moving object. This system consists of stereo matching, obstacle detection and distance estimation. In stereo matching part, depth maps can be obtained real road images captured adjustable baseline stereo vision system using belief propagation(BP) algorithm. In detection part, various obstacles are detected using only depth map in case of both v-disparity and column detection method under the real road environment. Finally in estimation part, asymmetric parabola fitting with NCC method improves estimation of obstacle detection. This stereo vision system can be applied to many applications such as unmanned vehicle and robot.

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 객체의 인식률을 높이고 객체 검출 품질이 보장되며, 환경에 강건한 3차원 공간 스캔용 ToF-Stereo 융합 센서 시스템을 제안한다. ToF-Stereo 센서 융합 시스템은 ToF 센서와 Stereo RGB 센서의 센싱 값을 융합하는 방식을 사용하며, 하나의 센서가 동작하지 않더라도 다른 하나의 센서를 이용하여 계속해서 객체를 검출해 나갈 수 있다. ToF 센서와 Stereo RGB 센서의 센싱 거리, 센싱 해상도, 빛 반사도 및 조도 등에 따른 품질이 달라지므로, 신뢰도 추정에 기반하여 센서의 기능을 조절할 수 있는 모듈을 두었다. ToF-Stereo 센서 융합 시스템은 ToF 센서와 Stereo RGB 센서의 센싱 값을 결합하고, 신뢰도를 추정한 후 신뢰도에 따라 센서의 기능을 조절하여 두 센싱 값을 융합하므로 3차원 공간 스캔의 품질을 향상할 수 있다.

스테레오 추적 시스템을 이용한 보행자 높이 및 3차원 위치 추정 기법 (Estimation of Person Height and 3D Location using Stereo Tracking System)

  • In this paper, an estimation of person height and 3D location of a moving person by using the pan/tilt-embedded stereo tracking system is suggested and implemented. In the proposed system, face coordinates of a target person is detected from the sequential input stereo image pairs by using the YCbCr color model and phase-type correlation methods and then, using this data as well as the geometric information of the stereo tracking system, distance to the target from the stereo camera and 3-dimensional location information of a target person are extracted. Basing on these extracted data the pan/tilt system embedded in the stereo camera is controlled to adaptively track a moving person and as a result, moving trajectory of a target person can be obtained. From some experiments using 780 frames of the sequential stereo image pairs, it is analyzed that standard deviation of the position displacement of the target in the horizontal and vertical directions after tracking is kept to be very low value of 1.5, 0.42 for 780 frames on average, and error ratio between the measured and computed 3D coordinate values of the target is also kept to be very low value of 0.5% on average. These good experimental results suggest a possibility of implementation of a new stereo target tracking system having a high degree of accuracy and a very fast response time with this proposed algorithm.

  • In this study, stereo vision system is applied to a mobile manipulator for effective tasks. The robot can recognize a target and compute the potion of the target using a stereo vision system. While a monocular vision system needs properties such as geometric shape of a target, a stereo vision system enables the robot to find the position of a target without additional information. Many algorithms have been studied and developed for an object recognition. However, most of these approaches have a disadvantage of the complexity of computations and they are inadequate for real-time visual servoing. Color information is useful for simple recognition in real-time visual servoing. This paper addresses object recognition using colors, stereo matching method to reduce its calculation time, recovery of 3D space and the visual servoing.

  • This ppaer describes the development of the stereo camera system(KASS-1) and the control of the vergence of the stereo camera to fix a gaze on a moving object in real-time using a stereo disparity. The motion energy and the stereo disparity of a moving object from the stereo image are used to control the vergence of stereo camera to keep stereo disparity constant. The disparity from the rotating stereo camera is introduced not only from the moving object but also from the background. In this paper, the background disparity error due to the vergence control of the stereo camera is eliminated by compensation algoithm, and the vergence of steereo camera system can be controlled continuously using the disparity of a moving object only.

  • This paper presents a stereo camera system that provides a Pair of stereo images using a Biprism. The equivalent of a stereo Pair of images is formed as the left and right halves of a single CCD image. The system is therefore cheap and extremely easy to calibrate since it requires only one CCD camera. An additional advantage of the geometrical set-up is that corresponding features lie on the same scanline automatically, The single camera and Biprism have led to a simple stereo system for which correspondence is very easy and which is accurate for nearby objects in a small field of view. Since we use only a single lens, calibration of the system is greatly simplified. Given the parameters in the Biprism-stereo camera system, we can reconstruct the 3-D structure using only the disparity between the corresponding points.

  • Human visual system infers 3D vision through stereo disparity in the stereoscopic images, and stereo visioning are recently being used in consumer electronics which has resulted in much research in the application field. Basically, stereo vision system consists of four processes, which are cost computation, cost aggregation, disparity calculation, and disparity refinement. In this paper, we present and evaluate the existing various methods, focusing on cost aggregation for stereo vision system to comparatively analyze the performance of their algorithms for a given set of resources. Experiments show that Normalized Cross Correlation and Zero-Mean Normalized Cross Correlation provide higher accuracy, however they are computationally heavy for embedded system in the real time systems. Sum of Absolute Difference and Sum of Squared Difference are more suitable selection for embedded system, but they should be required on improvement to apply to the real world system.

  • Generally, stereo pair images are necessary for 3D viewing. In the absence of quality stereo-pair images, it is possible to synthesize a stereo-mate suitable for 3D viewing with a single image and a depth-map. In remote sensing, DEM is usually used as a depth-map. In this paper, LiDAR data was used instead of DEM to make a stereo pair from a single aerial photo. Each LiDAR point was assigned a brightness value from the original single image by registration of the image and LiDAR data. And then, imaginary exposure station and image plane were assumed. Finally, LiDAR points with already-assigned brightness values were back-projected to the imaginary plane for synthesis of a stereo-mate. The imaginary exposure station and image plane were determined to have only a horizontal shift from the original image's exposure station and plane. As a result, the stereo-mate synthesized in this paper fulfilled epipolar geometry and yielded easily-perceivable 3D viewing effect together with the original image. The 3D viewing effect was tested with anaglyph at the end.
