In this paper, a range image segmentation method is proposed. This method consists of an initial segmentation stage by discontinuous edge detection and surface type labeling based on the sign of the principal curvatures. Initially type labeled image is oversegmented, this image is merged via stepwise optimal region merging stage based on polynomial function approxiamtion. The successful segmentation results are presented for two synthetic range images with noise and a real-world ERIM range image.

The present paper deals with the optimum design of reinforced concrete cylindrical shell tanks in according to ACI 318-89 code. The purpose of this investigation is to find the optimum values of the steel ratio and the effective thickness of reinforced concrete cylindrical shell tanks. The analysts is carried out using a simple computer programming, SMAP(segmented matrix analysis package). The optimization is carried out using GINO programming. Optimum results for cylindrical shell tanks with uniform, stepwise and piecewise linealy varying thicknesses are presented.

The feature of resolution enhancement by derivative operation is linked to one of the multivariate analysis, which is multiple linear regression with two options, all possible and stepwise regression. Examined samples were synthetic mixtures of 5 vitamins, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin phosphate, nicotinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride and ascorbic acid. All components in mixture were quantified with reasonably good accuracy and precision. Whole data processing procedure was accomplished on-line by the development of three computer programs written in APPLESOFT BASIC language.

The rhodium(II)-catalyzed reactions of diazo compound derived from Meldrum's acid with a variety of styrenes have been examined. These reactions provide a rapid route to the preparation of cyclopropanes with a variety of substituents on the benzene ring. The mechanistic pathway for the formation of these products has been also described in terms of a stepwise mechanism.

Recently, the prestressed concrete long-span bridegs are increasingly built at various locations in the world. The mechanical and structural behavior of prestressed concrete bridges is very complex because of nonlinear and time-dependent material behavior and sequential change of structural system due to stepwise construction. These factors may cause construction errors with respect to design value and monitoring system is needed to minimize or to protect construction errors. This study presents the basis development of monitoring system for precise construction of large scale prestressed concrete bridges.

The direct impacts of individual materialism on price perceptions and price perceptions on patronage behavior have been limited in previous research. This study examined the impact of materialism on consumer perceptions of clothing price and the influence that price perceptions have on store patronage by consumers. Using factor analysis and stepwise regression analysis, results indicated that materialistic values revealed four factors (pursuit of happiness, acquisition centrality, success, and practical-consuming). Materialistic four values influence consumer attitudes toward the positive and negative roles of price. In turn, patronage is predicted by positive and negative price-perception. Implications and future research directions are also discussed.

The service quality scale is developed after testing validity and reliability through the result of inquiring into the literature and the interview of university students. The stepwise regression analysis using MINITAB is used to analyze the survey results.

The computer simulated CVD phase diagrams were completed by the stoichiometric algorithm. Three kinds of SiC/C FGMs: stepwise, semi-continuous, and continuous specimens were prepared according to the simulation. These three types of FGMs and SiC non-FGMs were compared through various thermal test and measurement. In overall judgment, the semi-continuously deposited FGM specimens out of three kinds showed excellent thermal properties as well as a good adhesion to each sub-layer.
